Decline and Fall
"Haven't you heard of it?" she looked at me disbelievingly.
Ever since I've stepped into the college, it has been filled with gossip. No. Of course not the usual gossip. Today it seemed like, gossiping about whatever had happened was forbidden to be spoken out loud.
So, I simply looked at the ground and decided to rack my brain. I tried remembering every possible thing that could be the root of today's gossip.
I really didn't have any close friends over here since I lived far away from the city. Maintaining good communication in this way was still very hard even in this age of techonological advancement. So, knowing what big thing might have had occurred today or in this whole winter session was nowhere near my knowledge.
I looked back at the girl, whose name I reckoned to be Ara.
Pressing my lips together in a thin line, I shook my head. She sighed softly and beckoned me to lean forward. I nodded and followed her instruction.
