Location: The Coffee House

Time:11:07 pm

 

I start sweeping the floor, grouping all the confetti together, seeing the brightly coloured pieces all mix together. I look back down at my watch, 11:10. Just when can I go home? I continue sweeping when I hear familiar chimes tingling, I feel the wind and all the confetti flies up in the air. My skin is met with the cold air and it makes me shiver.

 

“Are you still open?”

 

(Time:11:11)

 

It felt as if my heart stopped. I felt my palms become sweaty. The hairs on my arm stood up. For some strange and unknown reason I heard melodious bells sounding and when the voice spoke again I felt butterflies.

 

I turn my head to see who the owner of the voice is. It’s a man, dressed in black. From head to toe. “Ah, I see. I guess you’re not open. What was I thinking? It’s a cafe. Well, the opening day of a cafe.” He chuckles lightly. His voice smooth and soothing but still quite deep sounding.

 

“I guess I’ll leave then.” He turns to leave and reaches for the door.

 

“Um, it’s fine. You don’t have to go, I’ll take your order.” I utter. I observe him intently as he turns back to me. I drop the broom and walk over to behind the counter. “What would you like?” I ask, staring into his eyes. “I’d like a whit
