synopsis
two thousand and fourteen was a mixed year for sm entertainment, parting ways with talent from their most successful groups, dating scandals and mid-tier, not as successful as desired, comebacks and not to mention a lot of their idols circulating rumours around. admittedly, they had better years.
red velvet were the highlight of the year for a lot of k-pop fans, bursting onto the scene with two parallel comebacks to varying success, and with the big company effect and charismatic members, it wasn't any secret that they'd eventually see top-tier success.
but, behind every flight is a fall. and that fall was "generation seven" better known as "g7" after the questions were raised that it was a stupidly similar name to "girl's generation" sm's obvious powerhouse.
the seven member girl group made their debut in late may, with a cookie-cutter song and a lack of promotion after being met with meager success despite what people thought to be persistant backing.
flop queens, after red velvet's debut, they fell into something of obscurity, and struggled to even garner a comeback with management having their hands full.
the girls of generation seven despite their talent seemed trapped in their contracts without any sign of success after their debut.
many thought it wasn't possible for them to pull themselves out of their rut.
and they were determined to prove everyone wrong.

i know that it seems weird for sm to debut a group the exact same year as red velvet, even if it is before, but like i made this old fic before red velvet was a thing so yea. also this story will start circa 2014 and work up to present day detailing all their comebacks and activities and lives along the way if that wasn't obvious yet !! i hope y'all applying n thanks for checking this out anyway
