Forever is a long time, don't you think?

The Fallen Six

He sat on one of the roofs, the midnight breeze gently blowing over his face as he looked down and into the window of a mortal.

A mortal that highly interested him.

As he watched her sit at her desk, doing her homework, he contemplated spreading his wings. It would cover the moonlight shining into her room, causing her to look, but he knew it was a bad idea.

She wasn't supposed to know his kind existed, anyway.

"Jinhae! Go to bed!" a middle aged, womanly voice echoed out of the window, and to Changjo's ears.
He couldn't help but smile. "Jinhae..." he whispered quietly, letting the tips of his wings brush against the cold concrete tiles of the roof.

"Yeah yeah, I'm going," Jinhae replied, closing her books, and eventually turning her desk lamp off.

Changjo waited for a few seconds, before standing up and ruffling his wings. A mix of silver and midnight blue, his feathers blended perfectly into the night. He took off gently, and dived, heading straight for Jinhae's window. He stopped his flight a second before colliding with the wall, effortlessly keeping himself airborne as he raised a hand, and gently tapped  on the glass.

She always loved to keep him waiting.

Changjo tapped gently once more, rolling his eyes as she came over, and opened the window.
"Jonghyun, you know you can't fit in here, right?" she said, looking at him. Her eyes had a mix of wonder and pure adoration in them. Was it on purpose? Changjo wasn't too sure.
"That doesn't matter. I can keep myself in the air anyway." he replied, his tone a little cocky.
"You're not even supposed to be here." she said quietly, leaning on her desk so she stick her head out of the window.
"That never stopped me before, did it?" Changjo crossed his arms.
"You're so full of yourself." Jinhae sighed, closing her eyes.

Changjo laughed quietly for a moment, before moving a little closer. Jinhae opened her eyes again, almost falling backwards at how close he was. Distracting herself from his flawless face, she looked at his wings. Silver from the arches, she followed the trail until they began to turn a dark, dark blue, blending so much into the night that she didn't know where his wings stopped and where the sky began.

"Jinhae, I have something to tell you." Changjo whispered.
"Go for it." she replied, focusing her attention back onto his face. His perfect, angelic face.
"This is the last time we'll see each other." he said.

What he said didn't really matter to Jinhae. It was the way he said it. Emotionless. Cold.

His old self before she began to make him human. Bit by bit.

"Have you been ordered to do so?" she asked quietly.
"No. I'm taking precautions. I don't want them to know about you. Not while I still have wings."
"Are you saying you're going to get yourself into trouble to become fallen?"
Changjo sighed. "No."
"So this is it, huh?" Jinhae laughed wryly.

Changjo looked at her, she looked back.

"I have to erase your memory." he said, his voice sounding like he was in extreme pain.
Jinhae pursed her lips. "All of it?"
"You can't hold the thought that I'll come back."
"But you will. You always have."
"That doesnt mean anything now."
She rested her chin on her hands, her eyes defiant. "I'm not going to let you."

Changjo's lips curved up into a smile, his wings continuing to keep him high in the air. It didn't take much effort to keep himself airborne. "Jinhae. You know the rules."
"But your friends know about me anyway!"
"You're 17. You have a life ahead of you. Don't let me stop you from living it." Changjo felt a little piece of himself fall away as he continued to look at her.
"Screw you, you're immortal."

He couldn't help but laugh. "Give me one last kiss, before you forget meeting me."
Jinhae smiled, reaching her hand out to grab the collar of his custom made shirt, a hole in the back allowing him to freely move his wings. He moved forward even more.
"Before I forget falling in love with you, that is," she replied, gently pressing her lips to his.

He pulled away, placing two fingers on her forehead. "If we ever meet again, I promise you that we'll be together."
Jinhae rolled her eyes. "You're such a sap."
"You made me feel like a human, what can I say?"
"You can say 'I love you'?"
"And you said I was the sap."

They both smiled at each other before Changjo's eyes turned a bright white. "I love you," he whispered.
"Forever?" she asked, mesmerised by the amount of power he held in his hands.
"Forever."

A bright light shone, the source of it coming from Changjo's fingers as he began to take away every memory associated with him. He saw all the moments, flashing quickly, one after the other. When they met, when they began to talk, when they laughed without a care in the world.

He bit his lip as he decided to leave one memory behind.

The memory of his kiss. The feeling of warmth, security and love it all held.

As he finished, Jinhae was asleep, leaning over the edge of the window. Changjo sighed, taking her body gently out of the window, cradling her against his chest before he flew a small distance away, turning back to dive towards the window, folding his wings and landing gracefully in her bedroom. He carefully stood up, and walked to her bed, setting her on it and pulling the covers over her.

He stood quietly, looking at her one last time. The way her dark brown hair was messily arranged around her face and onto the pillow, her long eyelashes resting against her cheeks, the way her lips were curved up in a small smile as she continued to sleep.

She would remember nothing of him. Except that kiss.

He walked toward the window, jumping out and taking flight once more, flying upward to where he belonged. A single tear running down his cheek as he rose even higher, disappearing above the clouds.
