Three Unread Messages

Three Unread Messages

Slipping your arms through your grey duster jacket complimenting your white t shirt and deep navy denim jeans, you lifted your black shoulder bag from your chair as you settled it on your shoulder. Digging out the keys from your pocket, you followed Joonkyung out of the recording studio after a long night of finally finishing up the lyrics to one of the songs on his album.

Twisting the key while it sat in the door handle, you removed the key before you checked the door. Joonkyung thumbed through something on his phone before slipping it into his chestnut leather jacket. Walking down the long hallways, the two of you left the darkened hallways as the lobby filled with moonlit cast shadows from the large windows on the face of the building.

“Do you need any help out to your car?” Joonkyung offered knowing that the parking lots can be scary for a lady especially at the late hour that you two had stayed til.

“I’ll give you a ride if you do” You counter-offered as Joonkyung nodded his head with a shy smile.

“Thank you” He whispered as the two of you crossed the emptied parking lot.

Unlocking your car, he trotted up to the drivers door and opened it for you. Thanking him as you slipped in, he took your bag and closed your driver door before placing your bag behind the driver’s seat on the back seat. Rounding the trunk of the car, he slid into the passenger seat, he made sure that you both had seatbelts on before allowing you to head off to the apartment complex that you both conveniently lived at.

Pulling into the parking garage, the two of you spotted an emptied parking spot. Maneuvering the car between the two lines, Joonkyung quickly made his exit as he jogged around the hood of the car to your door. Opening up your door, he held out his hand for you to use as your exited your car. Sliding your hand into his, you thanked him as he scurried off to retrieve your bag from the back seat. Watching him move around all worried, you couldn’t help but just smile and thank him as he handed you your bag.

“You know that I can still do things, right?” You giggled as you locked the car with a touch from your key fob.

“I know, but I just think you should take it easy. I am sure Jay acts the same way around you.” Joonkyung explained as the two of you walked towards the elevator.

“Actually… he doesn’t know yet…” You told Joonkyung as the two of you arrived at the elevator. Keeping your eyes forwards, you took a deep breath as Joonkyung fell speechless. “You can’t tell him though.”

It took Joonkyung a moment to register what you had just said, shaking his head that he wouldn’t tell Jay. The two of you stepped through the parted doors of the elevator.

“He should be happy with the news, so you shouldn’t have to worry about that.” Joonkyung tried to reassure you watching you play with your own fingers in nervousness.

“I hope so, it is just earlier than we had planned is all…” Your quiet voice told all about your insecurities and this challenge before you.

“Sometimes the best things in life aren’t planned” Joonkyung reassured as his hand lifted to rest on your shoulder.

The elevator sounded that you had arrived at Joonhyung’s floor. Bidding goodbyes to one another, you watched from within the elevator as Joonhyung entered into his apartment, sending you off with a wave goodnight.

Pressing the button of the floor that you lived on, you watched the doors close as tears began to coat your eyes. Hearing the chime that you had arrived, you wiped away your tears that threatened to fall with the long sleeve of your grey duster. Stepping out of the elevator, you headed down the hall a few doors before your fingers filed through the keys on your keyring. Sliding your house key into the deadbolt lock, you twisted the handle before stepping inside. Closing the door behind you, you tried to be as quiet as you possibly could. Locking the door once more, you slipped off your shoes and padded back to the bedroom.

Pushing the master bedroom door open just slightly, you saw Jay fast asleep on the large bed. Dropping your shoulder bag and your shoes by your bedside nightstand, you padded into the closet and began to exchange your work outfit for a pair of shorts and a large t shirt. Moving into the conjoined bathroom, you finished your nightly routine before retiring to your side of the bed. Leaning over, you pressed a soft kiss against Jay’s cheek before you curled against his warm back. Slipping ear buds into your ears, you put on some music as you relaxed after your long day.

Drifting off to sleep, the rays of sunshine bled through the sheer curtains a few short hours later. Jay adjusted himself as he turned over and wrapped his arms around your figure. Opening his eyes slightly, he saw your arms pressed against your own chest as your legs were slightly curled up. Adjusting you to fit better in his arms, he pressed a sleepy kiss on your forehead.

A few hours passed as he drifted between sleep and consciousness. Pulling out his phone, he played with the ends of your hair as he checked up on messages that he had missed. Receiving one from Joonkyung, he opened it as three messages sat unread.

Congratulations!

I can’t believe that you are going to be a dad!

Oh… I wasn’t supposed to tell you that…

Jay’s eyebrows furrowed together in confusion as he peered down at the love of his life between his arms. Brushing away the fallen hair from your eyes before tucking it from behind your ear. Carefully removing your earbuds, he placed them with your phone on the other side of you. Running his hand up and down your back in a relaxing, massaging fashion, he held you close while thoughts of a little one filled his mind.

A few more hours ticked by as his eyes closed in an attempt to fall back asleep, feeling you shift between his arms, he opened his eyes as he loosened his grip on you slightly as you stretched in his arms.

“Welcome home” Jay whispered as he pressed another kiss against your forehead

“It’s really nice to be home” You whispered softly as your hands gently brushed over his chest.

Silence washed over the two of you, tangled between the sheets of your shared bed. Your announcement pushed to the forefront of your brain as you couldn’t suppress it anymore.

“Jay” You whispered to get his attention

“Mhmm?” Jay hummed softly in reply

“What do you think of our family plans getting moved up a little?” You could feel your heart pick up pace as you couldn’t help but tilt your head upwards to look into his beautiful brown eyes.

“I wouldn’t mind having a little one come along in about nine months” Jay couldn’t suppress his smile, shown between his pink lips as he peered down at you, his feathery light touch dancing over your cheek.

“W-Wait… you know?” You tensed in his arms as you looked up to see him

“Joonkyung spilled the news through text.” He whispered, his fingers slowly brushing away some fallen strands of hair.

“I wanted to tell you first… but it was late and night and we were working and the word baby came up and every time I would get uncomfortable and he asked me why and it just…” You tried to explain yourself thinking that he was upset.

The worry and panic in your voice became evident as he cradled your face and pressed his lips against yours, taking a second your lips molded to his as he pulled you closer slowly. Conveying all of the love for you and the little one that he could muster within the kiss. Beyond happy about the news no matter where he had heard it from.

Chapter 2: Awwwwwwww I was waiting for the moment she'll tell him and it was incredibly sweet as expected!!!
I know it would have been better if she was the one to deliver the news herself, but his reaction was cute <3

The first chapter when they were working on the lyrics and such made me think of myself and how it's better to put efforts in planning first so that the project or whatever I'm working on turns great. Hahaha just telling you random things and my feelings ~~~

Thank u for writing this sweet story <333
