Blurry Lines
Description
Growing up, Yoo Nabi has always been closer to her father. Despite being busy career-oriented parents, her father has always found time to spend with her. Every night when she was a kid, she knew how her father always tried his best to come home before her sleep time to read a novel or tell a story to scare nightmares away.
Her father was always there— in her school performance and events during primary school, to her birthdays, graduations and all other important milestones in her life. For the other times, they spend the weekend for a beach getaway, sometimes at the forest to camp overnight, most of the time at the local park or as simple as hanging out at the gazebo in their backyard doing what they both always loved: music.
At first, it was always her Dad who played the guitar until she eventually learnt to play on her own. And then, she is given and blessed with a beautiful gift her father also has, a talent in singing.
Being a shy, reserved, quiet and highly introvert girl, Nabi finds herself comfortable in her father’s company the most. It is her safe home as they use music as their greatest and most meaningful bond.
So when her father died, it took a great toll on her, and brought her to great havoc and anguish despite being already at the age fifteen. It was a difficult time for her, not taking the expected loss very well. Well, perhaps not as well as her mother did as two years later, she introduced her boyfriend. Her mother’s boyfriend who could potentially be her step-father.
Time passed, she felt left out. Nabi felt like she doesn’t belong to her own family, to her own home. Perhaps, it was the cons of being an only child— when one of your parents pass, and the one that remains continues on with their life; finding a new partner and building a new family, leaving no remaining space for the solo child anymore. For some reason, they suddenly become the “add-on".
So when she couldn’t take any of it anymore and an incident occurred, she decides to take a trip back to her father’s hometown bringing along not only the memories her and her late father shared but also the symbol of their irreplaceable bond— music.
Arriving there, Nabi finds an unexpected company.
An unexpected company she strangely finds peace with.
An unexpected company she remarkably feels comfortable with.
An unexpected company she won't ever forget.
