The Atmosphere
The sheer number of people in the main hall made my head spin. Students were everwhere and many had taken off their gravity belts so they were free floating above us. Proctor Hollins was standing on his little ledge, looking slightly ill.
"Attention students," His voice boomed over all the commotion and caused some to flinch, "I am Proctor Hollins and I'm in charge of this school. I'm hoping that I'll be able to help you all while you stay here.
"Now, there are many rules here at the Atmosphere and they aren't quite like any of the other schools," As I looked around at the others some looked legitimately terrified. There was a young boy who was literally shaking.
"You all have been given your gravity belts, please leave them on at all times- Unless instructed otherwise," The little boy continued to shake, but it started to seem like it wasn't because of Proctor Hollins.
"There is a very strict curfew of 10 p.m. and it is enforced by the lights being shut down and some of the air locks disengaged. There are many parts of this school that are off-limits to you students. This is mainly because there is no oxygen or it is due to maintenence," The boy's face started turning a bright red color and other students started noticing.
"The most important thing is that you should feel safe here. You all know what is happening on the ground but you will be safe in the Atmosphere."
The boy turned off his gravity belt and started floating towards the others. Once he was away from people, flames started shooting out of his mouth. Many students screamed and tried to get away from him, but no one seemed to move. Proctor Hollins, however, just sighed.
"Mr. Neddel, we have discussed this and you know it is not allowed for you to do that while around other students. See me in my office," He cleared his throat before addressing everyone else.
"It will take you a while to adjust to life up here but I have full confidence that you all will grow to call this place home."
