Ch 2 Splash

Heart Left At Sea

Over the next few years, they met almost everyday. Slowly she went from staying in the water to moving up on the sand with Jungkook while his toes and

her tail met the tide  It was her first time connecting with someone like this. The mermen in the village could never hold her attention. They were always

saying she should just marry her weapons in her forge because she would never give them a second glance. It wasn’t her fault that forging weapons was

infinitely more interesting than their personalities if you could even call them that.

She remembered the first time they kissed. They had decided to meet at sunset that day instead of at dawn. They had been goofing around when she

splashed him with her tail a little too hard. He was holding his eye.

“I think some water got into my eye.”

“Oh no I’m so sorry. Let me see.”, she leaned in to get a better look. She moved his hand away but then he captured her hand in his. The look of pain was

gone. Instead it was replaced by the familiar mischievous glint. Before she could get angry, he closed the distance between them. Her eyelids lowered

automatically. She could still see him painted with the warm pinks and oranges of the sunset. It was a lingering kiss. His lips were tender and gentle.

When they broke apart, neither could look the other in the eye without blushing furiously. But they soon got the hang of it. They just had to practice a few

more times.
