Hoseok lies on the lush new grass of spring, his eyes closed against the light of the sun only managing to dull the intensity of the rays. All is quiet around him and he revels in the first peace he has known from the roaring of his thoughts in weeks. He doesn’t let his mind wander; instead, he focuses on thinking nothing at all. The only thoughts that light across his mind are those of the cool breeze mingling with the warmth of the afternoon sun. How the breeze used to dance with your hair, how the sun warmed your cheeks. Damn, he thinks. He slipped. His brow furrows as he works to dispel the unwelcome intrusion, but he feels his resolve weakening. He is so occupied in his memories of the way melted ice cream tasted on the warmth of your lips that he does not notice the clouds that begin to cover the sun, shadowing his lids from the rays at last. A drop of water trails down his cheek but he cannot tell if it came from him or the sky above. He’s thankful when more droplets join the first as the clouds cry with him.
