Pianoforte*60 years later*
Her fingers ghost the keys of the piano.
*CREEEEEEEAK*
A little boy pokes his head through the door.
"Oh, sorry," he apologises to the frail, old woman sat at the piano.
"No need to apologise, come here," she replies.
"Mum told me not to bother you when you're in here, though," the child protests.
"You're not bothering me, so you're still doing as your mother says if you come in," she reasons.
The boy runs across the room to the woman and clambers onto the seat next to her.
"Was this grandma Luda's?" His bright eyes looking up to Meiqi.
"Yes, it was."
"I miss her," the boy says sadly.
Meiqi sighs.
"I miss her too."
The boy opens his mouth but quickly clamps it shut again.
"What were you going to say?" Meiqi inquires.
"I was going to ask if I could play it but-"
Meiqi smiles at the lad as she ruffles her fingers through his hair, tucking a loose strand behind his ear.
"I think it's about time someone played it. Besides, it's what grandma Luda would've wanted."
A cacophony of noise fills the room.
'I kept my promise,' Meiqi thinks to herself.
'You never lost me.'
'Ever.'
