Epilogue
The Depths of ReasonTucking the final bag into place, Jinwoo heaved a sigh and brushed his dark hair off of his forehead. It had taken several months to find safe passage from Needle Gate to the coast, but now that he had hired a ship and rented a room near the docks, he felt as if he could finally breathe. He would stay in these rooms for only the next two days, then the ship would set sail for Arisan the following day. And from there, home to Noria.
He had sent word already through small air elementals, detailing his mission in Obarsan and only leaving out Amber. The Tower didn't need to know about her, and so he didn't add that in. If anyone asked where he got the spear, he would lie and say that he had found it in the Depths of Reason.
He still felt guilty for stealing her weapon, but the look of almost relief on her face when she realized she was free from it had eased most of that guilt away. The Tower needed to have the weapon: he had seen what she had been able to do with it, the magic practically singing to him as she weilded it. And the ancient Spear of Norindran was meant to be in the Tower, alongside what else he had taken.
Though he was still unsure than anyone should know about those. He had told Jihyo, one of his closest friends and a councilwoman of his Tower, but he knew that she would keep his confidences and secrets until he was ready to tell them.
