Byung Hee snatched the remote control from the coffee table and switched off the television abruptly.

“This is getting worst,” he said with a hint of disgust as he glanced sideways at the other two guys in the room. “What do you think is happening here?”

Seung Ho shrugged his shoulders offhandedly while Chang Sun had a grim look on his face, as though he was deep in thoughts about something. Byung Hee knew that he was probably worried about his sister, who was supposed to come back to Seoul from her holiday with Cheol Yong since 2 days ago, but has not returned yet since and there hasn’t been a single phone call from her. On top of that, there were these new murder cases which had been floating around since the last 2 weeks...

“We probably have nothing to worry about. Maybe it’s one of those drunk and hit cases where the victims are just at the wrong place and the wrong time.” Seung Ho, being the eldest, always tried to keep the most rational mind out of them. To him, there was no sense in panicking if nothing was confirmed yet.

Chang Sun, who had been keeping quiet since just now, stood up suddenly and took out his phone from his jeans back pocket.

“I’m going to call them again and leave another message. This is getting ridiculous.”

The two older guys exchanged knowing glances with each other. Joon was just being Joon, always worried about nothing, always letting his imaginations run wild. And knowing Ji Yoon just as well, they can guess very well how annoyed the girl was going to be when she has to rush home just because of her brother’s over-anxious thoughts.

“Let it be Joon. I mean, no news is good news right? They probably just extend it for another couple of days, you know before they have to come back to the real world where the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.”

Chang Sun threw a somewhat confused look over his shoulders, as though he could not quite believe Byung Hee had just stated a sensible quote. Seung Ho snickered amusingly by the side. Even he was taken by surprise too.

But before Chang Sun could even make that call, a sudden knock came over the door, interrupting their supposedly peaceful evening. Byung Hee groaned out loud while Seung Ho got up from his seat to see who had decided to grace them with their presence.

“Don’t tell me you had asked Ji Hyun over. She would bring all the girls and...”

“Shut up,” Seung Ho retaliated with a smile. “I didn’t ask and I doubt that is her. She’s working the night shift tonight.”

He reached over for the doorknob and threw open the door, the smile never leaving his face to greet his new visitors.

But as soon as he saw Doo Joon’s and Jun Hyung’s serious grave expressions, his smile started to falter because he realised something must’ve gone wrong. Very wrong.

“Do you have a minute now?”

“Sure...” Seung Ho answered slowly. “Come on in. Joon and G.O are here too.”

As soon as the two men stepped inside the apartment, Seung Ho closed the door behind them and gestured for them to have a seat.

“It’s okay,” Doo Joon replied seriously. “We just came to check some things out with you guys.”

“What is it? Is everything okay?”

Byung Hee asked anyway but he knew everything was wrong. From Doo Joon’s and Jun Hyung’s worried and strained expressions, to their deep and concerned voices – something was definitely wrong.

“Have you been following the news?” Jun Hyung asked.

As soon as he said it, Seung Ho immediately knew where the conversation was heading. He met Doo Joon’s eyes for a brief second and he instantly knew what the Beast leader was thinking about.

“You don’t think...”

“There’s a whole different group out there, doing all these killings. Fresh new blood,” Doo Joon said grimly, his two fists clenched tightly by the sides. “You know what this means. New gangs are always desperate to make a name for themselves in the underground world.”

“Do you have any idea who they might be?”

Both guys shook their heads.

“Not yet. But we’re going to find out. If it’s true, I’m sure you guys know that we’re are all in deep trouble.”

Chang Sun, who had been keeping silent since they arrived, started to speak up suddenly.

“Yeah, they are desperate. Desperate for attention. And if they can successfully destroy the earlier groups, namely us, they would definitely earn the attention they are dreaming for.”

“Which means, they are all after us now.”
