Chapter Three

I Swear

Kino watched Angie Kim dance with a slightly pinched expression. She was brilliant and beautiful and incredibly graceful. According to what his manager knew of her she had studied ballet in New York and judging by the elegant lines of her form she had been very skilled at it. These factors made her a perfect dance partner which was something Kino should be happy about and he was, but he couldn’t help but find her beauty more worrying than anything else.

Jimin liked to pretend that she wasn’t bothered by the fact that Pentagon spent so much time at music shows in the company of beautiful female idols but Kino knew better. It bothered her just as much as it bothered him that so many of Jimin’s friends were attractive males that adored her. After all, hadn’t he started out as one of them?

The music came to an end and Angie walked over to him. She was dressed in black tights, shorts, and a striped crop top. Her long black hair was pulled back into some elaborate braid Kino couldn’t even begin to name. She smiled and two pretty little dimples revealed themselves.

Jimin was going to kill him. s already wanted to do it. They didn’t seem to find it very fair that he had a pretty girlfriend and now got to dance with another pretty girl as well. The boy ran a hand through his hair. He was going to have to tell Jimin soon. He could imagine the strained smile that would tug at as she tried to convince him she wasn’t upset about Angie. Suddenly he wished he hadn’t been so tired the last time he’d seen her so they could have had a few hours playing together in earnest. He missed her.

Kino glanced in Angie’s direction once more. He wondered what it said about his feelings for Jimin that he was alone with a beautiful girl and yet could only think of her. He had already admitted it to himself once before but had scared himself so bad he’d pushed the thought to the furthest corner of his mind. Now though it had pushed forward right to the forefront of his thoughts and he admitted once more to himself that he loved Jimin. That he was in love with her.

“Kino ssi?” Angie said softly looking at him with dark eyes full of concern. “Are you feeling alright?”

Kino sighed suddenly feeling guilty for thinking of his own problems when they were meant to be practicing. Angie was a very nice girl. It wasn’t her fault that she was pretty and had unknowingly caused problems for Kino. He smiled at her as best he could.

“I’m okay don’t worry. I just zoned out for a bit. Ah, what time is by the way, noona?”

She glanced down at the thin silver watch around her delicate wrist. “It’s almost 7pm.”

He nodded at her. “Thank you, noona. Do you mind if we end practice a little early today? I promised a friend I would go see their concert.”

She nodded smiling gently. “That’s fine. Whose concert are you going to go see?”

“Ah, it’s the JYP Nation concert.”

Angie’s eyes seem to positively sparkle. “You’re so lucky! I really wanted to see Twice sunbaenim perform.”

The excitement in the girl’s voice startled a laugh out of him. Most girls would be more eager to see Got7 or 2pm but Angie didn’t seem to care about them in the least.

“What friend are you going to go support Kino ssi?”

“Got7’s Yugyeom and 15&’s Jimin.” He answered, careful to mention Yugyeom first.

“Oh, Jimin sunbaenim! We went on her show a few weeks ago. She’s so cute.”

Kino smiled widely at the older girl’s words, immensely pleased to hear someone praise his girlfriend so genuinely. He resisted the urge to openly agree with her.

“I’ve never heard her sing in person though it must be great. Her voice is beautiful.”

She seemed so sincerely wistful at that moment that he felt rather guilty leaving her alone. He wondered if taking her along would be a bad idea. He hadn’t been too focused that day and had spent most of his time thinking about Jimin. Angie was older than him and could have scolded him but she hadn’t. She had merely worked harder. He felt bad thinking about it and thought that he could at the very least take her to go watch Twice perform.

“Would you like to come, noona?”

Her eyes seem to light up like fireworks.

XxX

Jimin stared in the mirror turning every which way inspecting her outfit closely. The concert had ended only ten minutes ago and the backstage was still a turmoil of activity. The girl had thanked all the staff very quickly and had made a beeline to the dressing room to check her phone. As she’d hoped Kino had left a message saying he was heading backstage to see her and so she’d gotten dressed in the outfit she’d picked out last night; a bright green crop top and jean shorts. She pushed her hair back over her shoulders and refreshed her bright pink lipstick before finally venturing out of the dressing room back into the crowded hallway. Many of the artists were still milling around talking to their invited friends and family as well as each other. Jimin smiled as she made eye contact with Yugyeom but merely offered a small wave as he seemed to be talking with his mother. Their stage had gone over very well. She had been worried at first about her dancing but judging by the big smile on Yugyeom’s face after they’d finished she’d done rather well. As she made her way down the hall in search of Kino she waved and bowed at staff members and fellow artists as she passed. She looked down at her phone and considered calling him for a moment when she happended to glance up and finally caught sight of him standing beneath the exit sign. He was dressed in a pair of fitted black jeans and a black military jacket. Jimin couldn’t help but smile as she walked towards him. Her boyfriend was rather handsome. Her smile began to fade though as she noticed the slim figure by his side. It was a girl. A very beautiful girl with delicate features, almond shaped eyes, and a small pink mouth. She was dressed in black tights, knee-high boots, and a dark green coat that cinched at her small waist. Jimin tried her best to seem unaffected as she drew closer but she was having trouble keeping the emotion off her face. Kino had come to her concert with another girl and Jimin wanted to kill him.

XxX

Kino lingered nervously by the door looking for Jimin among the sea of people. He finally spotted her as she neared him. She was wearing shorts and a shirt that showed off a pretty pale sliver of her stomach. Suddenly the boy’s thoughts were not so pure and he pinched himself. Now was not the time.

“Kino yah.” Jimin called out to him and judging by the look on her face she had already spotted Angie next to him.

“Jiminie.” He responded pulling her into a loose hug. “You look pretty.”

Her eyes widened and she hit him on the arm. “Yah, you wanna die?”

The boy chuckled and resisted the urge to kiss her on the mouth. She did look rather lovely though with her long rose gold hair falling over her shoulders and framing her cute face. Her makeup glittered like stars beneath the lights and her skin looked almost translucent.

“You look like a fairy.” He blurted out and was reminded of how very not alone they were when he heard a giggle next to him. Angie was smiling widely in amusement. “Ah, Jiminie this is Angie noona. She’s my new dance partner.”

Jimin bowed in greeting at the other girl though her brow was furrowed. “Dance partner?”

Kino smiled. “Yeah, I’m going to be on Hit the Stage.”

Her eyes lit up and she hugged him. “Kino! That’s great!”

It took a great amount of self-restraint to keep Kino from pulling her body even closer to his. After a moment though the excitement on Jimin’s face died down and the boy could almost read her thoughts. She was obviously thinking about how many hours of practice that would entail. Kino looked over at Angie and smiled sheepishly.

“Noona, would it be okay if you waited here for a moment? I need to talk to Jiminie about something.”

The older girl blinked. “Oh, sure that would be fine.”

Kino nodded in thanks and took Jimin by the wrist.

“Kino!” The girl sounded annoyed but allowed her boyfriend to drag to a more private place.

The paired ended up in a small courtyard that was located on the roof.

“Uh, Kino I don’t know if we’re allowed to be up here.”

The boy shrugged. “It’ll be fine. We need to talk.”

Jimin frowned and looked up at the night sky. “Talk about what?”

“You’re upset with me, aren’t you?”

“I don’t know what you mean.”

Kino sighed. “Jimin if you’re angry with me just tell me.”

“I’m not angry but you’re pushing me closer to being angry.”

“So, then you’re not upset about Angie?”

Jimin’s eyes flashed. “Should I be?”

Kino frowned. “No, you shouldn’t but I know you are. We were friends before we started dating, Jimin. I know you. What I don’t understand is why you won’t just admit that you’re jealous so I can tell you you’re being ridiculous and make you feel better.”

Jimin stared at him. “You think I’m jealous.”

“I know you’re jealous. I’m very familiar with what jealousy looks like because I see it in my own eyes every time I get home from one of our dates after you’ve shown me yet another picture of a handsome guy you’ve made friends with.”

Her eyes softened. “You know that me having a lot of guy friends doesn’t mean anything. You’re the only one I think of in that way.”

Kino ran a hand through his hair and smiled despite himself. “See that made me feel better. Now say that you’re jealous so I can make you feel better too.”

She pouted at him obviously embarrassed. “I’m jealous Kino. Now, make me feel better.”

“Gladly.” He responded and pulled her closer wrapping one arm tightly around her waist and dipping his head down so that their lips were pressed against one another’s. He maneuvered them so they were up against the wall and took the opportunity to slip his hand beneath the hem of his girlfriend’s shirt touching the skin that he had found so pretty earlier.

Jimin pulled away with a sigh. “We can’t do that here.”

The boy took a deep breath. “Sorry.” He murmured even as he pulled her back into his embrace and buried his face in her neck. “Your skin is so soft.”

Jimin laughed at how frustrated he sounded and the young man allowed himself a moment to enjoy the feeling of having her in his arms. The moment was short lived however as he suddenly felt her stiffen. He straightened.

“What’s wrong Jimin?” He stared down at her and noticed that she was looking at something over his shoulder.

Kino turned and froze as he caught sight of a startled looking Angie and two clearly livid members of Got7.

XxX
