Lost in Thought
Maybe I'm Missing YouJisoo was left alone with the sound of her heartbeat.
She knew that Jinyoung cared a lot about other people. But unlike Jisoo who was explicitly doting and open to showing that she worries about others, Jinyoung cared about others silently, when he thinks no one can see.
Like what did just now.
It kind of threw Jisoo off thinking how Jinyoung was so open about his worries about Jisoo– not to mention the tenderness of his touch– but then again he did think that she was sleeping, and Jisoo figured he wouldn’t have done that had he known that she was actually awake.
Jisoo reminded herself not to overthink, that Jinyoung only worried because he, being the observant guy that he was, probably noticed that Jisoo was exhausted from the long night of rehearsals she told him about last night when they were chatting. It was natural for friends to be worried about each other, and it was natural for Jinyoung to care about other people, although it isn’t too obvious to people who don’t know him all that well. He would’ve worried if it was Doyoungie, he would’ve worried if it were any of the members of Got7. He would’ve checked up on them too– in his cool, quiet, roundabout way that makes it seem like he doesn’t care all that much even though he truly does.
So Jisoo shouldn’t feel special for being on the receiving end of Jinyoung’s worries.
Right?
“Right,” she lifted her head off the vanity table and addressed her reflection. Then she pointed a finger to the mirror, warning herself, “Ya, don’t overthink. It’s nothing, it’s nothing, it’s nothing,” she repeated over and over, each repetition sounding softer and more unsure, “…but what if–”
Just then the door swung open and Jisoo’s manager came in, making her jump from her seat.
Finally!
“Unnie! What took you so long?”
Who knew that being alone with just her thoughts for a few minutes would be so difficult? Jisoo had gone from staring to the drink that Jinyoung had left as if doing so would give her answers to the questions she was asking in her head, to talking to herself on the mirror, trying to figure out not only Jinyoung’s intentions but also the unfamiliar feelings he stirred inside of Jisoo. (Now that Jisoo thought about it, those feelings have been there for a while– Jisoo had just been stubbornly avoiding addressing said feelings.)
It’s been like that for the last 30 minutes or so– but it felt even longer for Jisoo. Her mind kept replaying the words he had said and it was driving her mad that she was thinking about it so much when it didn’t mean anything.
Or so she thought anyway.
“I was on the phone with one of the bosses to coordinate some changes in your schedule.”
“For 30 minutes? Isn’t that a bit long?”
“Yea– wait, actually no. The last 10 minutes or so… I ran into Jinyoung in the hallway when I went to get coffee from the vending machine. He and I talked.”
“You talked to Jinyoung for 10 minutes? About what? What would you two even have to talk about for that long? He doesn’t even talk that much…”
“Jisoo-ya, why are you so jumpy? You’re talking so fast!” Her manager placed both hands on Jisoo’s shoulders, telling her to calm down. “Ah, it must be because of that drink. It’s pretty strong.”
Looking down to follow her manager’s gaze, Jisoo realized that she was clutching onto the drink with both her hands. She hasn’t even taken one sip of it, and it certainly wasn’t causing her jumpiness– its giver was. She shook her head and turned back to her manager.
“You didn’t answer my question, unnie! I wanna know what you guys talked about.”
“It’s not important, so I don’t have to answer your question. Anyway, why aren’t you ready if you’re so anxious to leave? Go change int
