The purple monster sauntered up to Irene and put his tiny arm around her petite shoulders.

''Sup babe,' he said to Irene with a slight wink.

Irene blushed.

'I told you not to call me 'babe' in front of other people.'

'I can't help it,' he shrugged, 'you're just so beautiful.'

Irene giggled softly.

Seulgi stared in confusion. She wasn't sure whether she should throw up or run, run far away.

'Oh, how rude of me!' he exclaimed, putting an arm up to his snout and turning to look at Seulgi. 'Who might you be?'

'I'm Seulgi,' she answered not daring to look into his beady eyes.

'Hiya, Seulgi!' he grinned, 'My name is Barney, nice to meet ya!'

Seulgi didn't even have any options anymore. She was definitely going to throw up.

'What a great name!' She complimented, throwing him a forced smile.

Barney? What kind of name was that? Sounds like something you'd hear on a children's TV show.

Ten seconds of awkward silence followed. 

'So, how did you guys meet?' Seulgi asked quietly.

'Oh, it's a long story!' Barney piped up with a large smile.

Seulgi wanted to punch that smile right off of his face.

'How about we talk about it over tea?' Irene questioned, 'There's a nice tea shop down the road, we can go there after school.'

'Sure,' Seulgi said happy to get out of there as soon as she could.

'Barney, I'll see you later,' Irene kissed the top of his snout and then he left in his red Ferrari.

Irene turned to Seulgi, 'I know this is a little weird but please give him a chance, he's a really nice guy.'

Seulgi couldn't believe what she had just seen.

'But, Irene he's a beast!'

Irene looked at her, offended, 'He's not a beast! He's a dinosaur!'

That was even worse.

'A purple one!' Seulgi fired back, 'What are people going to say when they see you walking around with a dinosaur on your arm? Have you even told your family?'

'Look, if you're going to judge us and our relationship then maybe you're not the type of person I want in my life,' Irene stated.

Seulgi was dumbfounded. 

Irene was really willing to choose a dinosaur over her. A talking one at that.

'Irene, you don't mean that.'

'Oh, I do,' Irene started fiddling with her coat buttons again, 'I think he's the one.'

No one said anything.

'I-I love him.'

Seulgi was done. This was too much for her. All those years she'd dreamed of Irene falling in love with her only for Irene to fall in love with a talking dinosaur.

She walked away.

'Where are you going?' Irene chased after her.

'To school, we're going to be late,' Seulgi replied, 'we can continue this conversation later.'

Seulgi couldn't concentrate on any of her classes. How could she when Irene had dropped such a big bombshell?

This was so stupid that she wanted to laugh but she couldn't. Her heart was too broken.

Her classmates noticed something was up but were too intimidated to ask. Seulgi wasn't exactly the most approachable person.

What did Barney have that she didn't? 

Thoughts about today plagued her mind until the bell finally rang.

She felt a small tap on her shoulder.

A girl with dark hair and bangs looked up at her.

'Is something wrong?' 

'It's nothing, Wendy.'

'Ah, that's good I was starting to get worried. You looked kind of off today.' Wendy pulled a bag of mints out of her pocket, 'Want one?'

'No, thanks.'

Wendy figured that was her cue to leave, 'I'll see you then!'

Seulgi watched her walk away.

Her phone buzzed with a new text message:
Meet me at 'Marymond's Tea Shop' at 4 o'clock - Irene

Seulgi wondered if Barney would be there. Probably. She went to the tea shop anyway.

When Seulgi entered she was greeted with the strong scent of coffee.

She looked around for Irene and the purple fool but couldn't find them anywhere.

Giving up she took a seat and decided to wait for them to come.

'Can I help you?' A waitress came up to her and asked.

'I'm waiting for someone.'

Seulgi waited for twenty minutes and still they did not come.

Losing hope she started packing her things up ready to leave.

The tea shop door swung open and a loud bang made everyone look up.

'Ow!', 'That hurt!'

Seulgi sighed. That annoying voice was awfully familiar.

'Hey, Seulgi!' 

The purple dinosaur made its way to her seat.

'That is your name right?'

'Yes. Where's Irene?'

Barney shuffled awkwardly, 'She sent me here to talk to you...alone.'
