Don't Let Me Go - an Addicted (Heroin) Fanfiction

Waking up in Shanghai again was not Jingyu expected the moment he rode that ferry boat to Taiwan. But here, another dreadful morning in Shanghai, another day to face Nini, her lying face never fail to ruin anyone’s day especially Jingyu’s. Nini, to Jingyu’s surprise, immediately agreed to do the paternity testing. Today was the day they were going to draw blood both from Nini and Jingyu. Although this is not truly accurate, it would still determine paternity nevertheless.

They both agreed that after the child is born, a DNA testing will be held to confirm result. Better safe than sorry. Jingyu knew how manipulative Nini can be so he’s thorough every step of the way.

“Why are you so reluctant to accept your own child?” Nini asked.

“Why don’t you ask yourself?” Jingyu retorted.

“I don’t understand. You left me pregnant and you’re denying your own child. Just tell me if you don’t want responsibilities. I can raise my own child.” Nini dramatically said.

“You know why I left. Save yourself some shame will you? Or do you want me to tell the whole world the real reason I left? You think I don’t know about that day in Shanghai Park? Why I never showed up at our dinner date? Stop blaming me for all this.” Jingyu stared at Nini’s eyes meaning each and every word he said. As if threatening her that one lie from again and he would reveal her unfaithfulness to him.

“You knew about Feng?” Nini asked.

“I didn’t even know that bastard’s name. But don’t worry, I will not go after that guy. In fact, if I ever meet him one day, I’ll thank him. Do you want to know why? Because he took you away from me. God knows how much I dread to get away from your lying .” Jingyu said in full disdain.

“You didn’t mean that, did you?” Nini asked again.

Jingyu did not replied but just gave Nini a hard glare. Of course he did not mean those words because Jingyu truly loved her. It’s just that getting past her unfaithfulness is too much for Jingyu that’s why he said those words. But just because he did not mean those words before does not mean he did not mean those words now. Especially now that he realized how a big fool he really were when they were still together.

The doctors came in and then lead both Jingyu who was walking and Nini who was being pushed by a wheelchair to the laboratory for blood drawing.

“After this, you’ll realize that all your suspicions of me were wrong. Although I dated Feng, we never slept together. I was only fooling around with him.” Nini explained.

“It doesn’t change a thing. And I don’t really care.” Jingyu said indifferently.

The needle struck Jingyu and the Medical Technologist who did that apologized.

“Sir Jingyu, I missed the vein. I’m doing it again I’m sorry.”

“Sure you can. This kind of pain is nothing compared to what the woman behind you did to me.” Jingyu said.

Weizhou opened the front door of his adoptive parent’s place. Nothing was changed since the last time he was here. Except for the scent in the air. Maybe his adoptive parents changed the perfume in the humidifier.

“Mom, dad, your son is here.” Weizhou announced.

A faint footsteps was heard from upstairs going down. It was Weizhou’s adoptive father.

“You’re home my son.” Weizhou’s dad said. “Come upstairs, your mother wants to see you.”

Weizhou hugged his father and then went to the veranda where his mother is looking at their backyard. It was always his mother’s favorite spot in the house. And even for Weizhou himself. The view is calming, even though there was nothing much to see, just a few grass and a fence but this is home, where your heart is.

Weizhou’s mother was just smiling at him, no words just pure warmth. He rushed to her mother’s embrace and then just cried.

“Mom, I’m sorry for leaving. I’m not leaving without a word ever again.” Weizhou apologetically said.

“I understand little Wei. Your dad and I are sorry to you too for saying all those things too late.”

Jingyu stayed in his own apartment where Nini and him used to live. But this apartment is under Jingyu’s name so he can use it however he pleases. Jingyu was so preoccupied that he forgot about Weizhou. When he remembered he doesn’t have his phone number, Jingyu was dazed. How can he forget such a thing? Now it’s going to be hard looking for Weizhou again. But then he suddenly remembered that Weizhou is an author of poetry books so he rushed to the nearest bookstore to look for his book. The idea was to look for the author’s bio at the end of the book. Usually there was comments and suggestion email address in it and it is usually going to be a work email. Aisle after aisle, Jingyu finally located a Xu Weizhou poetry book and then hurriedly paid for it like his life depended on it. Soon as it was tendered, Jingyu removed the plastic protection of the book and just scanned for Weizhou’s email. It was a desperate move but he’s left with nothing but this move. At the end of the book, Xu Weizhou’s bio was described.

Xu Weizhou

A young author with the makings of an accomplished writer. He grew up in a small family with just his mother and father.

He dreamed to become an author since a very young age and his reason was because he wanted to describe the world as he see it, and to teach us how can someone could find beauty even in the most simplest things and forms.

As he read through the bio, Jingyu was touched at the last paragraph. ‘to teach us how can someone could find beauty even in the most simplest things and forms.’ It is just what would Weizhou say. Heck, the guy could write about how beautiful the air is and Jingyu would surely cry. He clutched for his phone and then wrote an email to Weizhou and waited.

Do you remember me? I think I left at the airport without saying a word. I apologize for the rush. Will you let me make it up to you?

Regards,

Huang Jingyu

Jingyu patiently waited for days just for the DNA results and it was already the 8th day and the results were yet to come out. Jingyu was also waiting for Weizhou’s reply to his email and it was also days since he sent that email wondering if that email actually came through and made it to Weizhou. Right now, he’s waiting for two emails. Either of the two keeps Jingyu’s nerve wracking from anxiety. And then with a buzz, signifying an incoming email, Jingyu’s eyes lit up. It was from the laboratory.

From: Shanghai General Medical Center Laboratory Department

Subject: Paternity DNA Test Results

Good day Mr. Huang Jingyu. This is the Laboratory Department of SGMC, the results of the DNA Test is out, attached below is the file of the result.

Best regards!

Jingyu’s first reaction was that of relief because after reading this email, he would be free from anxiety. Whether it was their child or not, it doesn’t change the fact that they were broken up. And no one, not even this child could make things up between Nini and him. He opened the file and as he was browsing for the result, he found a line that made all his questions become answered.

Further testing have shown that the findings of DNA in Zhang Nini, mother, and Huang Jingyu, father-in-question, have confirmed paternity testing that is mentioned in the following clause;

  1. Huang Jingyu, the father-in-question has indeed matched that of what Zhang Nini’s, mother, specimen and;
  2. Matching records of DNA that is indicated of paternity is definitely possible until further testing with the child is held.

After reading the file, his phone rang. And rang again, and once more. He was just focusing on the possibility that he became a father. Maybe a few months ago, if he received the same email, he would’ve been the happiest man on earth. Nini maybe a lot of things but she’s pretty good with kids having a degree in child psychology. She would have been the perfect mother, if she wasn’t such a cheater. She would have been the perfect wife, if not for her shamelessness. Jingyu would have been the happiest father, with a beautiful wife. The day Nini decided to cheat on him, was the day Jingyu would have proposed. This is exactly the reason why Jingyu cannot forget nor forgive what Nini did to him.

DING! A new email has arrived.

How are you? I’m replying from my personal email so from now on use this to reply to me. My work emails are monitored by our boss so it’s really not recommended to use work email for personal use unless you have a proposition.

You were so out of your mind when we part ways at the airport. I hope you’re doing fine. You can make it up to me but you have to buy me a drink.

I miss having you around.
