And They Met Again
Love at RiskChapter 1 – And They Met Again
Mo Yeon started gathering the documents laid out on the table with the help of her assistant. She then smiled at the couple in front of her.
“Well that’s all for today. We will resume discussions tomorrow” Mo Yeon said.
“Thank you, Atty. Kang. Will the meeting still be here?” the husband, Park Tae Min asked.
It was Mo Yeon’s assistant, Choi Min-ji who replied, “Yes sir, it will still be here at 3:00 PM tomorrow.”
“Oh it’s good that the meeting is still at 3:00 PM,” the wife, Park Ji Su said. She then turned to her husband with a smile on her face, “We will have ample time to bring Jin Woo to school then.”
Mo Yeon smiled at the exchange. Jin Woo is the couple’s 4 year old son whom she is also very fond of. The child is very charming and smart for his age. The four of them went out of the conference room and went to the playroom where Jin Woo and the children of the company’s staff are playing while waiting for their parents. Mo Yeon urged the other senior partners of the law firm to provide such facility for their staff’s children. Upon seeing his parents, Jin Woo immediately ran towards their group. The child then pulled on her slacks and she bent down so that she could be eye level with him.
“Aunt Mo Yeon I want to go back here tomorrow. Can I?” Jin Woo said with a cute pleading look on his face.
Mo Yeon ruffled the child’s hair and said, “Of course you can!”
The child then enthusiastically clapped his hands and looked at his parents, “Dad, Mom did you hear that? Aunt Mo Yeon said I can go back!”
The couple laughed with Tae Min telling his son, “Of course you can. But for now we have to go home.”
The couple shook Mo Yeon’s hands with Ji Su leading the child away from them however Tae Min remained in front of Mo Yeon which made her curious. Tae Min motioned that they go to a room to talk in private. As soon as they entered an empty conference room, the man handed Mo Yeon a sealed envelope. Mo Yeon gave her client a curious look. Tae Min then said, “Atty. Kang, I will explain what those documents are tomorrow. But for now, I will entrust these to your care. Those are very important pertaining to the case that my wife and I are involved with.”
Though still confused, Mo Yeon received the documents. “Alright, I’ll safe keep these for you.”
Tae Min smiled gratefully, “You know, Ji Su and I have considered you are more than our lawyer but also a trusted friend. I would like to thank you for all the help you’ve given us not just for this case but in other matters as well.”
Mo Yeon also gave one of her longest clients a reassuring smile, “Don’t mention it.”
“Anyway, I should go. You know how Jin Woo can get when he’s bored,” Tae Min said.
Mo Yeon laughed at that and said, “I’ll see you tomorrow then.”
Tae Min then turned the doorknob to open the door and gave Mo Yeon another grateful smile before exiting the room.
Mo Yeon stepped out of the conference room. Her meeting with the partners and associates of the law firm just ended. She was on her way back to her office when Min-ji frantically approached her.
“Atty. Kang, come quick you should watch the news” her assistant informed her.
Knowing that her assistant will not be acting this way if there’s nothing urgent she decided to follow her at the firm’s pantry where the television is set up. As soon as she arrived, the other staff cleared a path for her so she could enter. She then watched in horror as she was able to finally digest the contents of the news, Tae Min and Ji Su was ambushed by unknown assailants. She was still digesting the news when their firm’s receptionist came in and called her.
“Atty. Kang you have an urgent call” the staff said.
“Alright. Kindly transfer the call to my office.” she grimly said.
“Yes ma’am,” the staff acknowledged.
She then walked towards her office and as soon as she arrived, she notified the receptionist that she is ready to take the call.
“This is Atty. Kang speaking, may I know who is on the line please?” she said.
