He wandered around the maze aimlessly, eyes staring dead ahead, the blood dripping from his wounds. He took another turn, and another one. Turned around when he had found another dead end, and sometimes, just sometimes, he didn't bother stopping at all.

There was once a time that he remembered what he was doing here.

Remembered what he was trying to find.

Then, in flashes, his memory would return.

The roar of a terrifying beast. The beauty of a sweet, gentle smile. The smell of jasmines, and then...

He winced and regurgitated, hit by a wave of nausea and fear. He felt the sharp, torturing pain from his abdomen and gazed at his soiled clothes, at the river or red that flowed from his body.

He would wake up at the same place he started his journey, doomed to wander around the maze again. Always would he see the decaying cadaver by his feet, the one that looks eerily like him. But then, he blinked and the memories and pain faded away.

All he remembered was to wander around the maze, always walking, always turning a corner, and another one, and another one...
