Chapter 5: Nostalgia

  "Kristoff." I replied. I averted my gaze at the water and focused at the boats instead.  "He's a special someone, he died years ago though." I added.     "Oh I'm sorry to hear about that." He said. "What happened?"   "A disease killed him. During that time, there was no cure. There was nothing I could do. I just watched him die." I smiled sadly. "But I guess he's in a better place now." I saw him nod.    "And I guess Kristoff does not like seeing you sad." He smiled at me. I nodded back at him.    "Life is pretty short huh?" He remarked. "You'll never know what's gonna happen next. Tomorrow might be your last day. We just have to live in the present."   There's a sudden pang in my heart. I guess normal human life is fun and happy. You get to age. You'll never know when you're gonna die. While here I am, forever stuck in this ever changing world. All I can do is watch, watch the world go by. I never felt the thrill of uncertainty. Being a normal human is fun.   I sighed silently.    "Do you believe in vampires?" I suddenly inquired. I'm curious to what he will say. I saw him smile a little.   "Well that's a surprising question. Hmm.. I used to. When I was little." He answered. "I remember watching Nosferatu. That guy gives me the creeps!" He faked a shiver.    "Ah! Nosferatu! I love that film!" I chimed. I watched it when I was staying in Munich. It was a hit but suffered huge setback because the film was an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker's novel. All copies of the movies were deleted except for one
