Yunhyeong sat in silence hearing his surroundings silently. He heard a groups of boys playing soccer and cheering as they make a goal. He heard some people chatting with each of their friends. He heard the wind slowly breezed passing through him. ‘It will rain soon’ he thought to himself. Suddenly, he could hear footsteps approaching his way and it definitely belonged to more than one person.

“Hey guys, look at this freak doing nothing!” an unknown boy shouted. “He must have no friends to just sit here all alone, haha!” another boy said. Yunhyeong was used to this kind of treatment so he just stayed silent and lets them continue. “I wonder if you’d die without this” the previous boy said snatching the cane from Yunhyeong’s hands. “N-No! P-Please don’t“ Yunhyeong begged. “So you finally open your mouth huh? This cane must mean really speacial to you” the boy stated as he exmine the cane. They continued to make fun of Yunhyeong until suddenly they become silent.

“Leave him alone.” A voice that Yunhyeong knows very well demanded. “What will you do if we don’t?” one of the boys asked. “I could report this to the principal, or even worse, I could handle all of you myself” He said calmly. Hearing his words, the boys ran away and left Yunhyeong’s cane to the ground. Probably because of how tall he is that they were intimidated by him, Yunhyeong thought to himself.

“Hyung, how many times have I told you to stop wandering off without anyone beside you? I couldn’t be by your side forever, you know.” Chanwoo scolded him as he gave back his cane. Yunhyeong just sighed, this was a normal conversation between them. “I should be able to do what I want without being harrassed!” Yunhyeong exclaimed. “I know, and I agree 100%, but you know how people in this school are mostly jerks. You need to be more careful, hyung.” Chanwoo said. Yunhyeong didn’t know what to reply, so he just stayed silent causing Chanwoo sigh. Drops of water started to fall from the sky, so Chanwoo leads Yunhyeong to the nearest shelter.

Yunhyeong and Chanwoo had been the best of friends ever since Yunhyeong moves in and becomes his neighbor. Ever since that day, they were basically inseperable. Even though Chanwoo was three years younger than him, he treats the latter better than any of his ‘friends’ who were the same age as him and Yunhyeong was grateful for that.

“Mommy, who are we visiting?” Chanwoo asked with an innocent voice. “We are meeting our new neighbors, Chanwoo. So please behave, alright? You don’t want to scare them off, do you?” Chanwoo shooks his head at the question. She then knocked on their neighbor’s door while holding on to the presents they have prepared for their new neighbors.

“Oh, look who do we have here?” A woman opened the door with a cheerful smile. “We live just across this house and decided to congratulate you and give you guys a visit” Chanwoo’s mom explained. “Oh, thank you! Please, come in and make yourself at home!” She insisted them. Chanwoo and his mom got in and immediately took a seat in the guest’s room. The woman then pinched Chanwoo’s cheek and couldn’t help but smiled at him. “I think my son is just as old as you are! You both would be the greatest friends! Yunhyeong-ah~” She called him.

“Yes, Mom?” Yunhyeong suddenly appeared, replying his mother’s call. “Come greet our new neighbors!” His mom approaches him and held his hand leading him to them. “He’s blind, so I hope you guys understand” she explained. “Oh, no worries.
