Ji Yong POV
I was listening to her side of the story. So, apparently Lee BoNa threatened her to destroy everyone she knows.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” I asked. I was still standing facing the balcony.
“I was afraid. I thought she would destroy you if I stayed by your side.” She said with a faltering voice.
I know she may look like a victim of BoNa’s stupid games but I just can’t believe her decisions were the best. “I’m sorry, I just don’t get it. You should’ve told me. You should’ve trusted us. But you decided to make public your relationship with him. You decided to hurt me. I would’ve prefer Lee BoNa destroying me than you.” It’s so difficult to say it, but I just can’t forgive her. Not only she destroyed all the love I once felt, but she also decided unilaterally to put an end to what we used to have.
“You’re so obnoxious!” She exclaimed. I turned to look at her. “Like if you’ve never made a mistake! Let me remind you that everything started because you didn’t trust me enough to tell me all that happened. Who knows! If you would’ve told me the truth back then, we’d probably be together.” She was angry. I started getting angry too. “Do you want to know why I can’t forgive you? You released an official statement. Do you know how hard I fought to keep my relationship secret with Lee BoNa?”
“Yeah right! So secret that everyday you were seeing with her all over Seoul!” She said.
“Sooner or later nobody will remember it, because we never confirmed it. But you on the other hand, everyone will remember the great love you shared with him… of all men on earth it had to be him! Why him?” I asked almost shouting.
She took a deep breath. “Let’s stop this. It’s obvious we won’t get anywhere.”
“You’re right. Let’s stop talking about useless things. The only thing I care about is my child.” She looked at me surprised. It appeared that she was hurt by what I blurted.
“You will see him whenever you want in America, I won’t be staying here.”
My phone started ringing. “Hello?” I shouted. I didn’t even looked at the screen to see who was calling.
“Yah! Why are you shouting?” She said.
I immediately apologized. “I’m sorry Omma! I just picked up without looking.”
“Are you with Emi?” She angrily asked.
“Yep.” I softly replied. If there’s anyone in this world I’m scared of, it certainly is my mother. I told her about Emi’s pregnancy yesterday. She knows that Emi is dating another man so she was obviously confused and disappointed. She loves Emilia like if she’s her own daughter.
“I want to speak with her.” She said. I walked towards Emi; she looked at me with a puzzled expression on her face. I tried to hand the phone to her.
“Omma, wants to speak with you.” I whispered. She shook her hands, the look on her face was begging me to me help her get out of this.
I tried to hand the phone to her once more. She finally grabbed it.
“Anyeonghaseyo Ommoni!” She timidly greeted her.
“Yes, I’m fine. He’s fine too.” She made a pause. “No, I don’t know its yet.” She looked at me. “In speaker?” She put the phone on speaker.
“The both of you will take the next plane to Jeju.” Emi and I looked at each other.
“Omma!” I exclaimed.
“No excuses. You will be here by the end of the day. Your father wants to see Emi and you.” I know it was useless to try and stop this. I took a deep breath and agreed to it. “Will be there.” I said and hung up.
“Yah! michyeosseo!” Emi shouted. “I just can’t leave… like this.”
“So, why didn’t you say anything?” I asked. “Call Omma and tell her you won’t be able to make it.” I knew she wouldn’t be capable of doing it. She stared at me for a while with judging eyes. She then headed to her room; I could hear her speaking with her staff. She was trying to change some meetings and giving instructions about the official statement of her breakup with that . I stayed in the living room, sitting on a couch; her place hasn’t changed at all.
She suddenly exited the bedroom and headed to the kitchen. “You should leave. I’m taking a shower and I’ll pack my suitcase. You’re buying the tickets by the way.” She said without looking at me. She was about to close the door when she stared at me. “Aren’t you leaving?” She asked a little bit annoyed. I crossed my arms and smirked. I know I was being childish but I was enjoying this a little bit too much. She rolled her eyes and walked away.
I called Nan Gook and arranged everything for our departure. I rented a private jet since it’s obvious that this trip had to be done in the most secrecy. After I hung up, I stared at her bedroom door. I walked towards it and stayed there for a while with the doorknob in my hand. After a while of doubting I decided to open it. I could hear the sound of the water falling. Her bedroom was impeccable. I bit my lower lip and started remembering the taste of her body. I may not love her anymore but the idea of having her still makes me go crazy. I was about to enter the bathroom when I saw the door of her walking closet. I entered without thinking too much. Her side of the closet was perfectly organized. The other side where my clothes used to be now had his clothes. It wasn’t full but it was obvious that they were spending some time together. I clenched my fist and left her apartment. “And this is why I’ll never forgive her.”
It was passed midnight when we arrived at my parent’s house. Mom opened the door. “Mom, how are you?” I asked while giving her a hug. Emi was standing near the door. She was looking down.
Mom looked at me for a good minute. “You’re not eating well! You’ve lost weight.” She whispered with that motherly tone that makes you feel guilty. I slightly smiled. Dad walked towards Emi and tapped her shoulder. “Why are you behaving like the first time we met you? Come in!” He happily said. Emi looked at him and bowed her head.
Once we were in the living room, Mom turned her attention to Emi. “Aigo! I can’t even see your belly. Are you taking care of yourself?” She worriedly asked.
“Yeh Ommoni.” She replied still looking down.
Dad looked at Mom. It appeared as if they wanted to say something but didn’t dare. Finally, Dad cleared his throat. “We know the both of you are busy but we are very happy to see you together.”
“We’re not…” Dad interrupted me. “Kure! Let’s go to sleep. Emi must be tired.” He said as he stood up from the couch.
“I want to apologize for making the both of you worry.” Emi nervously whispered. She was playing with the strap of her purse.
“Let’s talk tomorrow.” Mom said. “You’ll be using Ji Yongie’s room like the last time.”
“Omma!” I exclaimed.
“I rented a room in a nearby hotel.” Emi rapidly said.
Mom shook her head. “You’re staying here with us. We have a lot of things to do tomorrow.”
Emi and I looked at each other. “Don’t ask questions. Tomorrow we’ll tell you why.” Mom and Dad left to their room.
Emi and I entered my room. The only other available room is Dami’s, but she arrived yesterday from Seoul and is probably sleeping by now.
“I’ll sleep in the couch.” I said after turning the lights on and throwing my things on the floor.
Emi walked inside and placed her things near the desk. She took her coat off and started looking around. “It looks the same.” She said. I didn’t reply. She grabbed her toiletries and headed to the bathroom. I stayed inside the room. I walked towards the bed, took a deep breath and threw myself on it. I closed my eyes. What a day! I not only was physically tired but also emotionally.
I opened my eyes. The lights were off. I quickly sat on the bed. The lights from outside helped me to look around. I looked to the other side of the bed. Emi wasn’t there. I looked towards the small living area; she was sleeping on the couch. I sighed and squeezed my eyes. “What a ing gentleman!” I thought. I quietly walked to where she was. She was deeply asleep. I crouched and intently stared at her. I caressed her cheek while remembering the first time we came here; we had such a great time. If only I could go back in time. I placed my hand on her belly. “Are you okay?” I whispered. He suddenly kicked; I smiled, proudly. Emi slightly moved in her sleep. I quickly retrieved my hand. “Let your mother sleep.” I whispered again looking at her belly. I gently grabbed her in my arms to take her to the bed. While I was carrying her, I could smell her body scent. My heart started beating very fast. It’s no shocker that she still has some power over me. I placed her on the bed and headed to the couch to sleep for a few more hours.
The next morning, I could hear a lot of noise coming from downstairs. I yawned while stretching with my eyes closed. I looked towards the bed; she wasn’t there. As I sat down on the couch, I placed my hand on my back. “Ouch!” I obviously didn’t sleep well and now I had back pain. I took a quick shower and then I headed downstairs.
“Oh! The sleepyhead is up!” Dami Noona said. She was walking to the front door while looking for something inside of her purse.
I frowned. “Where are you going?” I asked.
“See you in a bit!” She exclaimed with a happy tone. She quickly left and closed the door.
I heard noises coming from the kitchen. “Mom must be making breakfast.” I entered and cheerfully exclaimed: “Omma! What are we having for breakfast?” I rapidly realized that Emi was in the kitchen by herself. She was cutting some vegetables. “Where is everyone?” I asked.
“They just left. They didn’t want to tell me where they were going.” She replied without taking her eyes off from the cutting board. I looked towards the kitchen's isle, on top of it there were some ultrasound pictures. I started looking at them. “So this little thing that looks like a bean it’s mine?” I thought while looking at the first picture. “You’re growing so fast.” In the last ultrasound you can see the perfect silhouette of the baby. I felt someone eyes on me; I raised my head. Emi was slightly smiling, but the moment we locked eyes she looked away.
“Did you show this to Mom?” I asked.
She nodded. “Ommoni and abeoji enjoyed it a lot. Dami Unnie is calling it Jellybean too.” She said while chuckling.
“Why do you call it that way?” I remembered Emi calling it like that when we met in Meca’s karaoke room.
“I don’t know. During my first ultrasound I couldn’t see anything. Gahee said that the dot on the screen was the baby. So I asked: the bean? And then Soo Hyun Oppa…” She immediately stopped talking. I felt nausea as I heard his ing name. I hated it so much that he was able to be there instead of me. She cleared and continued. “Long story short: If you see the first ultrasound picture, the baby looks like a Jellybean.”
“I won’t call it that way.” I said with disinterest.
“You don’t have to.” She softly said. She opened an upper cabinet door; she was standing in her tiptoes trying to grab a big pot. “If I stretch a little bit more, I’ll be able to get it.” She said. I quickly walked to where she was. I stood behind her. We both reached the pot at the same time. She had her hand on the pot and my hand was on top of hers. We both flinch after feeling the contact. She turned around; we were so close to each other that she leaned to the back placing both of her hands on the countertop. My heart started racing. “What are you doing?” She whispered while looking at my eyes. I wasn’t moving; I took a couple of steps towards her, shortening the space between us. We started breathing heavily; I placed both of my hands near her hands. I was mesmerized looking at her face. Her lips, her cheeks, her beautiful eyes… I started moving my head closer to hers. “I still want you, like the first time.” I whispered. She stared at me dumbfounded. She closed her eyes. I smirked. My lips were about to touch hers, when we heard the front door opening. I quickly walked away and sat down on a stool in front of the kitchen isle. At the same time, Emi took a deep breath, grabbed the pot and walked towards the stove.
“Hyung!” Daesung exclaimed. Seconds later SeungRi, TOP Hyung and Young Bae entered.
“What are you doing here?” I asked, confused.
They looked at Emi. “Have you been doing well?” Emi asked while grabbing both of her hands and looking down. SeungRi and Daesung quickly walked towards her and hugged her. “hyeongsu-nim!” Daesung exclaimed. Emi smiled.
Young Bae looked at me and then walked towards Emi. “Are you okay?” He asked. Emi nodded. These three forgive and forget easily… TOP on the other hand, is more difficult… to say the least. He and Emi locked eyes. He nodded once, Emi slightly smiled.
Minutes later, Mom, Dad, and Dami entered too. “What are they doing here?” I asked.
“They need to be here.” She replied. “Diego and Gaheessi will arrive later.”
I frowned. “What the heck is going on?” I thought. “What?” Emi asked.
Mom sighed deeply. “It’ll be a very simple ceremony. Today you're getting married.”
