I kept looking at my watch, hoping the train would arrive soon. It was almost time; I couldn’t afford to be late.

{Hwayoung’s Point of View}

Silence draped over the room. The incessant tick of the clock only made me more impatient as I looked out into the balcony. I watched the gap below my closed room door. The light flicked off. Outside my room, I could hear my father dragging his feet into his room, sleepy. This was my cue. Counting to thirty, I quickly slipped out of my nightdress and slipped on a shirt and the grey hoodie Yoochun gave me for my birthday. I took another look at the closed door, nerves drumming in anticipation. It was exactly fifteen minutes to midnight. Fifteen minutes to Christmas. I walked out into the balcony, moonlight cascading on me, highlighting my pale skin and soft features. Lifting myself onto the ledge, I carefully reached toward the ladder fixed on the wall. It was meant for escaping when there’s a fire, but I always thought it served a better purpose. Glancing into my room one last time, I climbed down and slipped out into the cold night.

The gentle breeze caressed my cheeks as I walked down the street. I shivered in excitement. He was finally coming back.
