Chapter 1

Mind Games

The sky was a dark shade of suffocating grey. The heavy clouds looked as if they were ready to fall out from its place. Small droplets of rain began to shower onto the ground below. On the front yard of a house, there lay a teenage boy. The boy slowly aroused from his sleep as drops of rain fell onto his face.

"Where is this place? I thought I fell asleep a few minutes ago at home?" Kuro thought. He could not tell the exact place where he was at. The words on the road signs in the neighbourhood were distorted like the images on the old, glitchy television in his granny's house. He slowly got up on his feet, wincing in pain on every step he took. His head was pounding as if it is about to explode. Due to the pain, he took small, baby steps towards the house that he was lying in front of for who knew how long.

As a typical teenager who didn't bother to mind his manners, he grabbed onto the doorknob and twisted it clockwise. Surprisingly, the door wasn't locked. It opened with ease, albeit it creaking loudly. He cautiously entered the house. To his dismay, the interior was much disheveled in comparison to its glamorous exterior. Chairs and tables were overturned, wooden flooring had large holes in it, and splinters of wood were all over the place. The amount of dust that covered the place was overwhelming and Kuro sneezed as some of it went into his nose. He couldn't comprehend the difference very well. Anyway, he continued walking around the area to see if there was anything that could relate to the family that lived here.

In the kitchen, the pungent smell of decaying food struck him like a lightning bolt. He couldn't help but throw up. "Like goddamn, how long has it been since I last smelt something THAT bad? Does the family not clean the food or anything? Jeez." Kuro thought out loud. There was nothing really out of the ordinary except the atrocious smell. There was a backdoor bolted shut with metal bars. Who knows what kind of secrets were hidden in there? As there were no tools for him to use to pry the bars off, so he used his bare hands and all his strength to try to pull it off. His efforts were proven futile and already exhausted from all the pulling. He took a close look at the door again and see if there was any weak point in the bars. The inspection took around 10 minutes and it was also proven futile. He was about to give up when he realized that there was a handlebar for him to push the door out and the bars were there because they were only for decoration. His sudden realization hit him in the face like a brick. ", if this goes out to my brother's ears, I'm done for." Kuro mentally face palmed over his stupidity.

As he pushed the door open and walked through it, he saw a gigantic walk-in freezer. The closer he walked towards the freezer, the stronger the smell got. "Are they butchers or what?  The 16 years of my life, I've never seen one that leaves their goods out to rot." The unpleasant thought of decaying meat hanging in there sent shivers down his spine. Nevertheless, he still opened up the freezer to see what's in store for him. Opening up the door, the sight left him stunned as it wasn't something that he was expecting to see. Inside, it was piled up with human skeletons with bits of rotting flesh and garments hanging on them. Some were hung on thick, steel chains by the neck and some were impaled through the head by a gigantic hook which was connected to the chains as well. Skull fragments from their shattered skulls were scattered beneath them. At that point, Kuro began to freak out. He quickly ran back into the house from fright.

"What exactly on ing earth was that?! The family must be cannibals!" he softly mumbled to himself with a glassy look in his eyes.

Still stunned from the experience, he walked upstairs with wobbly legs. Upstairs, the entire floor was empty. No furniture, no decorations, nothing. There were only two doors. Strangely, the two doors were connected to the same bedroom, and the condition of the 1st floor was the complete opposite from the one he had seen downstairs. With nowhere to go, he went into the bedroom.

The first thing he noticed, was a toppled over photo frame near the bed. He went over and picked it up and hesitantly turned it over as his mind was already going haywire from the shock he had experienced before. As soon as he turned it over, he was mildly disturbed. The photo was a group photo of him and his adopted brothers. Suddenly, the pounding headache kicked in again. This time twice as bad. He began to hear voices telling him various things. The giggling sound of him and his brothers playing when they were young rang in his head as well. "Shut the hell up!" Kuro yelled as loud as he could. But his brain wouldn't accept his plea. The sounds were getting louder and louder, to the point where he felt like his eardrums were about to be perforated. At the same time, the drizzle outside turned into a storm.

Chapter 1: Lol I had a similar experience! I went to a beach once and I had to go to the bathroom but when I reached the bathroom the door was chained up. There was a chain hanging from the front of the door where the door knob was to the side of the stall. I kept trying to open the lock but it turned out that it was all decoration... The real lock was just a small hook
