Description

A woman is considered to be lucky to have found the love of her life at twenty-three, but this chance has long escaped the grasp of Sandara’s hand. At the age of thirty-one, she is considered to be at the edge of spinsterhood, and she had lost all hope of ever finding love. Ten years prior, she had plans of settling down with the man she loved the most, the son of an invalid soldier, Lee Donghae, but she hastily breaks off the engagement swayed by her fears and obligations. She was an orphan at the age of fifteen and had lived under her Aunt’s care. Sandara looked up to her aunt and did her best to repay her kindness, so when her Aunt readily refused to acknowledge Lee Donghae to be her fiancée , Sandara complied with a heavy heart. For many years, the guilt and regret consumed her. She found herself enslaved to the ghost of the love she threw away, and constant questions of “what ifs” haunted her. To fill the void of her lost love, Sandara dedicated most of her adult life in fulfilling her dreams of opening her very own pastry store. She was struggling to make ends meet, as her family’s fortune perished due to her Aunt’s health failure.  In a series of events, Donghae returns to their hometown as a rich and successful businessman, he finds Sandara and her Aunt in the brink of financial distress and he ultimately becomes the tenant of the villa that Sandara’s father had once owned. Time has passed yet it did not alter his captivating looks, and Sandara finds herself completely and utterly shattered by his cold gestures. Is it too late for love to find its way back?

Foreword

It was something magical. If ever there were two hearts in unison, a mind that worked in harmony, a kindred spirit. It was as if he was made for her, and her for him. There was no one out there, who understood her in the way he did. It was the kind of love you meet only once in your lifetime. But now, he was before her. Like an old friend, his eyes drew her in. Yet it lured her into the depths of perpetual estrangement. It was torture to finally see him, and long for him at the same time.  There were many things left unsaid, and now she wonders if she dares utter them. Helplessly bound by the shackles of the past, she wanted to find her way. However with each step she takes, she becomes unsure of whether she is finding her way back or away from the love she once threw away.

Chapter 1: i can already tell i will like this very much. it reminds me of the mills and boons books that i used to read . now let me tell you a little story about those books. when my mother was younger, she moved out from her small hometown to the city to find a job. she boarded a dinghy little room. if i remember correctly, there wasn't even any flooring in that room, just plain..soil/dirt. with the little money she had to spare she would buy mills and boons books. they were her source of escape. to make the long story short, she met my dad, they had me and my siblings, and when i grew up old enough (old enough to read romance novels that is); she brought out her precious stash of mills and boons books and passed them on to me. so you can probably already get a jist of how much i liked..loved those books (80s edition). Modern books do not seem to come at par with the magic with those old books. Going back, your story, or your chapter 1 reminds of the feeling i have whenever i read those books. so thank you!!
