Lie to Me

Lee Eunbi was a fun person in parties, or at least she tried to be. That was one of the reasons everyone loved her so much. She was one of those people who started conversations and got the drinks and laughter going. It was all too easy for her: the smiles, the meeting other people, the catching other people's eyes. But one thing she never understood was why—why did that one senior never look at her the way everyone else did?   Eunbi stole yet another glance him a few seats away. The orange light bounced off the blonde in his hair. His sharp eyes were almost always smiling (and when they weren't, Eunbi wanted them to smile) as he joked and poked around with the other seniors. Just what would it take to make him look a silly sophomore's way for once?   Something vibrated in her bag, and Eunbi reached in to find her phone blaring a number she's seen one two many times. It was her sister. Eunbi looked at her watch, and then around the pub. It was thirty minutes past one, and her sister wasn't at Hyunwoo's table anymore.   "What?" Eunbi snapped into her phone.   "Hello?"   It wasn't her sister's voice. It was a man's.   "H-Hello?"   "Are you...hold on—what's your name again? Okay—Are you Lee Eunseo's sister?"    "Yes. Who is this?" Eunbi tried to keep her voice from shaking.   "Are you," the man on the other end paused, "are you near Anyang University, by any chance?"   Eunbi's eyes scanned the place one more time, feeling alarm slowly starting to creep up her arms when she couldn't find her sister at Hyunwoo's table. "Yes. Where's my sister?"   "Uh, yeah. Listen: your sister's drunk. We're outside this pub. The big one, two blocks away from the school where they're having the year-starter?" The man paused again, mumbling something Eunbi couldn't quite catch.   "What?"   "—anyway, it's late, and it's cold out. And...your sister's heavy. Could you come get her?"    "Oh, god. Uhm. Okay, I'll be right out."   "Cool."    Eunbi hung up faster than the stranger did. She grabbed her bag and coat and ran out of the pub without as much as a goodbye to anyone in the room.         Eunseo woke up the next day with a raging headache and a dull throbbing on her left foot.   "Jesus..." She rubbed her head, pushing her face into her pillow when she heard her bedroom door open. She knew it was Eunbi by the sound of her light footsteps. Eunseo groaned.   "I just don't understand why you insist on drinking when you can't hold your liquor, ever," Eunbi sighed as she pulled up the chair next to the dresser, automatically picking up a tube of eyeliner—Eunseo's eyeliner.   "If you're here to nag at me, leave."   "How do you expect to 'look after me' when you black out completely after one bottle?" Eunbi made quotation marks in the air, rolling her eyes and muttering under her breath. "Seriously, in what world does the younger sister end up taking her drunk older sister home?"   Eunseo slowly sat upright. The sun was shining in violently from the window, and Eunbi reeked of that cherry blossom perfume Eunseo disliked so much. It made the throbbing in her head worse. "How did you—we—get home last night?"   "Do you want me to tell you about how you had a guy lugging you around drunk outside the pub, or how that same guy had to get a taxi for both of us?"   "Oh god."   Eunbi stood up, the corners of her eyes now expertly winged. "You have class in two hours, and you need to wash your hair. Oh, and take it easy okay? You fell last night and I think you busted your ankle a little."   Eunseo groaned again. The last thing she remembered was popping open another bottle (she lost count, to be honest) and angrily pouring herself another shot as Minhyuk challenged her to it. She doesn't remember blacking out, or falling, or going home with Eunbi. She could only imagine what a stinking, drunk mess she must've been in front of Minhyuk, Hyunwoo, and god knows who else. Going to class was the very last thing she wanted to do right now.   "If you're thinking of skipping class, just think of the look grandfather will give you. He'll be really disappointed in his 'favorite grandchild'."   A pillow went flying across the room, falling just short in front of Eunbi by the dresser.   "Leave," Eunseo growled at her, "And for god's sake, buy your own damn eyeliner."         Eunseo walked down the hallway that morning limping. Eunbi was right, although Eunseo remembered absolutely nothing about the fall. And probably no one else did, too, because no one seemed to be looking at Eunseo weirdly, or whispering things behind her back (thank god). Which was why she tried to walk as normally as possible as if her ankle was the least of her problems (it wasn't), just to keep the whole act going, but it only made her face contort in pain.   And if that wasn't bad enough, there was a stranger staring at Eunseo from across the lockers.   Eunseo grit her teeth as the boy leaned against the lockers behind her coolly, but probably not as discreet as he intended. His eyes had been trained on her ever since she got there. He looked over his shoulder, as if Eunseo wouldn't notice if he stared that long. Eunseo could feel his eyes burning against her back as she carefully took out her books for her next class. Remnants of her hangover were still lingering in her senses, so she wasn't in the mood for things like this, and so early in the morning, too. Eunseo hoped that after she shut her locker door, he'd leave. Or at least blinked while he was at it.   "Hey."   Eunseo whipped around so fast, pain shot up her leg. She stifled a wince as she met the stranger's eyes. Deep brown orbs hiding behind strands of caramel-colored tresses. There was a band-aid across his left cheek.   Talking to him—or anyone, actually—was the last thing she wanted right now. But the stranger was oblivious to this.   "Did you get home okay?" he asked. Eunseo blinked.   "...what?"   "Last night." The stranger looked down at her feet. Eunseo shifted in her place, feeling herself growing self-conscious. "Did you get home safely?"   "Who...are you?"   The stranger made a face. Then he smiled. It was a small, undecipherable smile. "Right," he said, "Okay. See you in class."   Before Eunseo could say anything, the boy turned around and disappeared down the hallway. Growling under her breath, Eunseo slammed her locker door shut and stalked down the opposite direction.    "I really hope I don't."         This is it, Changkyun thought, as the new student from the year-starter took a seat up the highest row in the auditorium. Being a transferee, he was probably taking a few sophomore classes to make up for lost credits, which was the perfect opportunity for Changkyun to get him into "The Plan".   Jooheon nudged Changkyun, jerking his head towards towards the last row, telling Changkyun to s

Chapter 4: WOW AMAZING! I say this everytime I comment, but I just reeeaaaaally love your writing, from the descriptions that make me able to visualize, to the way you can just surprise like with that ending.
I sorta felt like Eunbi would want to help, but only because she thinks it's for her sister! What's going to happen when she finds out it's for her and Changkyun. And Wonho is making me fall, how is Eunseo not falling for this yet.
Anyways, looking forward to the next update!
