Foreword

PROLOGUE

The room became all-white for a second as the lightning—followed by a loud thunder hit the earth. The woman in beige coloured cardigan moved closer to the window, she stared at the heavy rain outside. The rain was getting heavier as time passed by.

Beeeeeeeep

She walked to the kitchen, filled up her cup with the boiled water. The sweet scent of milk invaded the room. She took a sip at the warm liquid after she settled herself at one of the high chairs that faced the island table.

There was nothing left in the cup after some minutes. She cleaned and placed it at the cupboard above the sink, then she proceed into the master bedroom upstairs. She was opening the door gently, carefully. She didn’t want to disturb someone inside. She took care of herself, brushed her teeth and face, set down her cardigan aside and wore similar coloured satin nightie, then she climbed up the king-sized bed.

His broad back was facing her. He seemed so cold, so distant.

He was near, yet so far.

The thunder attacked the earth once again, she closed her eyes firmly, then she opened it again and decided to bring herself closer to the man beside her. She reached out for him, softly she wrapped her slender arms around his waist. She was hugging him from behind, seeking for his warmth that she craved so much, a warmth that she loved and missed a lot.

“Have a nice dream, Jiyong.” She wishpered at his ear. Her voice was so low, and trembling. She was hoping he could hear her voice, hoping she would be able to bring him out of his lonely, painful dream.

The man moved slightly, he turned around to face her. He pulled her closer to him, he too, was looking for the woman’s bodyheat. “Are you saying something, Dara?” He whispered back, his voice was hoarse and his eyes still tightly-closed.

“No...” She said, fingers caressed his tired face. “No, just go back to sleep.”

He snuggled closer to her. “Hmmm..” He mumbled then tightened his hold around her petite figure.

She weakly smiled, and uttered the three words she had never failed to tell, for this broken man in front of her ; “I love you, Jiyong.”

She didn’t expect any answer from him. She understood very well, after the tragedy, he stopped speaking his feeling out loud. She will never get any answer from him, not even a single ‘Yes’ for every ‘I love you’s’ she utters.

She believed, she forced herself to believe, his love for her was still there, hidden somewhere inside his heart and maybe, maybe someday he would get back into his true self. But the pain was also very hard for her to bear.

And she was right. Her confession was hanging in the air, silence filled the entire room. Nothing can be heard except the sounds of heavy rain.

‘What happened to you, Jiyong? What happened to us?’ She asked herself, a drop of tear fell from her equally tired eyes.

He seemed so cold, so distant.

He was near, yet so far.

His body may be right here, by my side. But his soul, was nowhere to be found.

His soul was lost, and trapped inside his own world. A world that I couldn’t reach, Nobody can reach.

No one can save him but himself.

Give me some feedbacks alright :)
