Taking an elevator up to the highest floor of Kwon Enterprises, Jiyong stared uneasily down the stretched hall once the steel doors slid opened. The moment he stepped out, two guards standing next to the elevator bowed their heads respectfully at him. However, he took no notice of them and Instead marched determinedly down to the last door marked the CEO's office; his own office. Without knocking, he barged inside to find a figure dressed in a dark suit, sitting on a black leather chair behind his desk.

The view from his seat overlooked the beautiful scenery and nightlights of downtown Seoul.  As the figure spun away from the tall glass windows, he looked dauntingly at Jiyong and began his intimidation. “Ah, my young nephew, you have finally arrived.” He placed his hands on the wooden desk and leaned forward. “Don't be a stranger now, have a seat.”

Still standing, Jiyong made no attempt to move. He had come with a purpose, and he wasn't going to get distracted so easily.

“Oh, I'm sorry, am I in your seat?” The man mocked with a baffling grin.

While Jiyong watched his uncle pretend to get up, he took an angry step forward. “I don't have time for your games.”

Immediately, the smirk on his uncle's face disappeared while he leaned back against the chair once again. “Then you must have made a final decision. The girl, or the empire?”

Turning his head away, Jiyong let out a frustrated sigh. “You're already sitting on my chair, aren't you?” He could hardly believe the greedy man his uncle had become since the death of his father. As per the late Mr. Kwon's will, Jiyong was named the sole benefactor of the Kwon's business empire. Rumors broke out regarding the jealous state of his uncle, but Jiyong never anticipated for him to take such drastic measures against a blood-relative.

“The clock is ticking,” The suited man urged for Jiyong to announce his final decision. He pushed forth a contract that would transfer all of Jiyong's wealth to himself. “If you want the girl, just sign the documents.”

Clang!  Clang!

A whirlwind from above nearly hurled Seunghyun and Bom into the air. As they looked up, they spotted a helicopter landing on the empty lot of the area.  When the chopper was no more than a few feet away from touching the ground, Dara’s head emerged from the side opening. Screaming at the top of her lungs, she called out to them.  “Hurry, this is your only exit off this island.  Climb on before it’s too late!”  She extended out her arm for them to reach it.

The unpleasant sounds of bony, bloody fists banging hard onto the rusted steel door caused little concern compared to the thought of what would result if the island self-destructed.

With Seunghyun’s arm around Bom’s shoulder, he leaned onto her for support while she used what was left of her strength to help carry him towards the helicopter.  “He’s been badly wounded, take him first.” She unwrapped Seunghyun’s arm and handed it to Dara, whom with much effort tugged him safely onto the chopper.

“Bom,” Seunghyun’s voice came out hoarse and soft, almost like a whisper.  With so little strength left in him, he desperately reached out through the staggering pain in his shoulders for her hand.

A burst of flame shot out from the shattered windows of the abandoned warehouse, and through a distance, Dara could already see more chaos erupting.  “The explosions, they’re coming this way!  Take off, now!” She instructed her half-brother, the pilot.

“Bom…” Seunghyun’s bloodshot eyes looked down at the pale face of the love of his life.  Again, he repeated her name, and though he held tightly onto her arm, he was too weak to pull her up onto the chopper with him.  “Bom, don’t let go…”

Tears streamed down uncontrollably from her eyes, how could she ever let go?  Not of his hand, but what they had between them.  Time and time again, her saved her from death, and beyond anything, he was the only man in her life that she felt such a strong connection to.

Faster and faster, the rotor blades of the helicopter spun around until the image blended into a perfect circle.  Seungri had taken Dara’s words, mostly fearing for the majority's safety, and had prepared the chopper for take off.

“No, stop, don’t take off.  Dara, please, help me.  Help me lift Bom on first,” Seunghyun pleaded desperately as he jerked forward to fall flat on his abdomen upon the uplift movement of the helicopter.

“My leg!” Bom quickly shouted and lowered her head to find that a hand had grabbed onto her leg just above the ankle.  “Let go!” She tried to fight off the zombie-like figure by kicking her leg, but its grasp was too firm.

Seeing the pain through his eyes, Dara turned to face Bom and reached out for the older girl, but before she could...

“Noona, she’s dragging us down, we can’t possibly go up high enough to avoid the explosions this way!” Seungri shouted for attention, “Do something, fast!”

Bom’s wide brown eyes stared into Seunghyun’s; despite the roaring volume of the rotor blades, she had heard the pilot’s remark.  Knowing it wouldn’t be easy, she took a deep breath and gave Seunghyun one last smile.  “I love you,” She then whispered and released her hold on Seunghyun’s hand.

A dozen more explosions erupted nearby below the helicopter, causing it to rock back and forth in midair.

“No!” The moment Seunghyun felt her slipping away from him; he used his legs to push himself more towards the edge of the helicopter opening.  For a moment, he dangled from the chopper and appeared to be on the verge of falling out.  Yet the quick hands of Dara grabbed hold of his waist. It had to take a miracle for someone so tiny like Dara to pull up a big man like Seunghyun. But it happened, and she managed to lure him back in.

Successfully, the helicopter ascended away from the blasts and into the cool dark night...

Jiyong set down the pen on the table surface after scribbling his signature above a line on the contract.

“Smart choice,” His uncle clapped his hands in excitement, “Business was never your thing to begin with anyway. You always told me you enjoyed a simple life with the police dogs down at the old station, right Inspector Kwon?”

Before Jiyong could come up with a remark, a faint noise of an explosion from afar alerted him to look out the window. A burst of flame had shot up in the air like the display of fireworks. In that very moment, he knew the time had come. “Bom...” Jiyong muttered in awe. Despite lacking the details of what was happening or had happened on the foreign island off the coast of the nation, he knew she was gone.

Like a true villain off of a movie, Jiyong's uncle let out an evil laugh. While he securely sealed the signed documents ready to be shown in court, the phone inside the room rang audibly. Reaching for the receiver, Jiyong's uncle voiced, “Speak.”

“Master Kwon, Subject #001 is completed and ready to be released.”

Setting the phone back into place, the suited man pointed to the exit to show Jiyong his way out. “You may now claim your prize at the hidden chamber of the science laboratory.”

While Jiyong turned for the door, he took one last look at his surroundings. The office once belonged to his late father, a charitable man well respected and admired within the society. From the tiniest piece of furniture to the whole building itself, Jiyong's father had worked hard for them over the years. “I'm so sorry, dad.” Jiyong whispered into the air while his eyes reddened with tears. It had only been a month since his father's death and he already could no longer hold onto their family treasures. “I'm so sorry to disappoint you.”
