One of the most well written and developed non-au fics I've read on AFF. I don't usually like non-au, as it's a bit strange to view the artist after. 

Anyway, the writing is well done, no complaints from me. The characters have well-developed backstories and jobs that make sense. The plot is pretty angsty and sad at times.

And there is tons of hardcore / XD Even the author has a giant warning on the foreword of the fic.

This is the fanfic that raised my 'hardcore' expectations so high, I don't believe I can find a fic with as hardcore as in 'The Client'.

It's a pretty long fic, with a total of 73 chapters, but an amazing read. 

Although I don't go back to read it often, it's a good read if you're interested in hardcore with context. (Which is the reason I don't go back to read it, because each chapter needs context of previous chapters or it's a bit difficult to understand, and it's pretty long)
