Seoul, 25^th January 2016,

The property of Kang’s family.

It was a very beautiful Monday for Mr. and Mrs. Kang to have a cup of tea together in their backyard. Whilst sipping down their English breakfast, they conversed about life, family, kids, education, but then…

“Mommy, daddy, I’m going to school!” their daughter yelled as she ran through the wide backyard of theirs, wearing her school uniform.

“Oh, my baby darling, go on. Go to school and make us proud!” Mrs. Kang hollered back and waved her hand, followed by her dear husband. Their daughter approached them while gasping for air from all the running. “Good God, mommy, why does our backyard have to be so big, it’s tiresome!” she complained, and continued “moreover, why do you have to drink tea out here. You can do that in the dining room, living room, or practically everywhere in the house.”

“Oh, you grumbling little child of mine! Stop complaining already, what do you want anyway that you come all the way running?” Mrs. Kang who was sitting, covered her face from the sunlight with the palm of her hand and looked up to meet the face of her one and only daughter. “Mommy! You offended me, I didn’t come here running because I need anything? I just wanted to meet you guys, it has been a very long time since your Europe trip that I have seen you. Aren’t you glad to see me?”

“Oh, what are you talking about little angel? Of course we’re happy to see you, and we’ve missed you too!” Mr. Kang finally spoke up. He was the merciless, intelligent and hard-working man that Mrs. Kang fell in love for, but there was only one thing that he cannot stand, and that is his own only daughter, Hanna.

Hanna checked her watch and gasped a little before finally hugging her mother and father, “I need to go to school for real right now. I’m so glad that you guys are here again now, I’ll be back soon, we need to have dinner together tonight, alright? Don’t be busy!” she ran back to the house and finally gone to school.

“Oh honey, do you see that? Our little munchkin is growing up already.” Mrs. Kang put both of her hands close to where her heart is, flattered by her own daughter behavior. “I know, darling, I know. She’s so lovely, she just takes a lot from you.” Mr. Kang said.

“Oh Honey!” Mrs. Kang pressed her lips to her husband’s, it wasn’t like they didn’t get enough time to do things in Europe, but it was just a grateful kiss. A thank you kiss for having a beautiful child and life with me and hold on to them.

“But, darling…” Mr. Kang pulled away, “does our angel have a boyfriend?”

Mrs. Kang cocked her head, lips pursed, “I don’t know either, I don’t think she has.  Maybe we can ask her later when it’s dinner!” and they were about to kiss again when suddenly someone called out, “Mrs. Kang! Mrs. Kang!” and approached them, it was their maid, Won-Na.

“What is it?” Mrs. Kang asked, clearly annoyed by the sudden interruption, “you’ve got a call!”

Mrs. Kang stood up and walked fast to the house and muttered under her breath, “How dare the phone got between me and my husband’s intimate moment. This cannot be tolerated!”

When she has reached for the phone with an annoyed manner, the one in the other line seemed to be explaining something important that her expression changed all of sudden. And when she finally ended the phone call, she ran back to her husband.

“I think our daughter will finally have a boyfriend.”
