Dark Times

A/N - Makes me happy to see some of you guy stil remeber me :) Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy ^^

MinJun leaned against the railing, a cup of something dark and bitter he had made the mistake of taking from Wooyoung on his right hand, the left holding on to his cue as he took in the view in front of him.

MinJun had always been selective in live, or unnecessarily picky according to Wooyoung. Time was precious and nonrefundable, and whom he chose to invested on matter. There was no need to put in more effort than it was required if at the end it just wouldn't be worth the trouble.

This though...

This man he wanted to pinned against a dirty door in the bathroom of this ty second rate club was worth all the effort and then some. He knew it wouldn't be easy from the get go, but that only help to enticed him more. He could tell from the way he carried himself, coy, holding back, yet there was a sureness about him that was both intimidating and a turn on, and that made MinJun want to break him even more.

He took another sip before setting it down, cussing under his breath as the nasty concussion burned his throat, and took a step closer to the table. His eyes discretely taking in the man that stepped away from it, analyzing his handy work and smiling to himself. He had introduced himself as Taec and MinJun couldn't help but think the name fit him. He was at least half a foot taller and build in all the right places. The dress shirt he wore rolled up to his elbows and the few bottoms he had undone were doing wonders to MinJun's imagination.

"Don't it up" Wooyoung snapped at him. His way of a warning, and MinJun turned his attention to the table, realizing why Taec had smiled the way he did and why Wooyoung looked about ready to take the cue from MinJun’s hands and do it himself.

It had been MinJun’s idea to challenge the two for a game, a way to get closer to his target, winning or losing didn't really matter to him at the time, yet something about that arrogant look made MinJun want to wipe it right of his face.

It didn't take much to turned things around. A corner shot and the first ball rolled smoothly to the far left pocket. Walking around the table he positioned himself for the next shot, finding the perfect angle, analyzing just the right amount of pressure need it. Just a sly tap and the cue ball followed the predetermined path. Another in. One more to go.

"You’ve been holding back” Taec’s friend was just as handsome if not more, but unlike Taec he was fully aware of his charms. His eyes studied every single one of MinJun’s moves and MinJun studied him as well, his gestures, his posture, the sly smile and the way he just commanded attention without even having to try. Everything about Chansung was sure to be a good time. And in any other occasion it was to him that MinJun would have directed his approach.

But tonight he was off the clock. Tonight was not about the easy prey, but the one that made MinJun’s heartbeat accelerate with anticipation.

“Lucky shot” MinJun added as he analyzed the table for his next play. It was a tricky one, the placing of his hands and the force behind his shot had to be precise.

“I could take it seriously if the stakes were high enough though.” A curve shot. The cue ball following the predetermined path. Wooyoung huffed in the background and MinJun walked around the table to position himself for the final shot.

"So what would motivate you to take this seriously?"  Chansung again, yet it wasn't him that MinJun looked at when he answered.

"That depends on how far you are willing to take it"

His eyes had a mischievous glimmer to them and Taecyeon almost let himself get carry away by it. It would had been easy as day to just give in. MinJun wasn't subtle about his approach, yet Taec kept holding back.

In one end there were the kids he was supposed to be looking after tonight, and in the other was the fact that nothing about MinJun was a good idea.

Yet none of that matter in comparison to the thoughts that ran wild in his head. The name was different sure, his posture, even small details about his face had changed, but Taecyeon was sure he couldn't be mistaken. Not when he looked into those eyes, pass the lust and the playfulness and lost himself in the darkness that was so familiar to him it was almost painful.

It had to he him.

"I think we just got hustle" Chansung said as they both watch MinJun execute a perfect straight shot and eliminate any hope they ever had of winning the game. He straightened up, tapping the floor with his cue as his eyes found Taecyeon's for what seem like the hundredth time that night.

"So, want a chance to avenge your pride?" He asked, and Taecyeon let his eyes linger on him a little longer. On the broad shoulders and lean body. The sharp line of his jaw and the way his eyes smiled with mischief as he smirked. Well aware of Taecyeon's glance on him. Taecyeon was searching. For what he couldn't say. A hint. The smallest sign that it wasn't his mind playing tricks on him.

Yet aside from the physical similarities nothing about this man was Him. Even the way he dressed, jeans and a black fitted blazer over a simple white V-neck tee-shirt, a gold thin chain hanging loosely over his neck. Simple. Classic. Confident. It was a world of difference from the boy Taecyeon remember. The one that used to wear clothes as bold as his personality and whose insecurities always held him back.

"I think we'll just admit defeat and call it a night"

"That was a bust” MinJun’s friend added, an almost amused look in his eyes as he exchanged a quick glance with MinJun.  A silent conversation going on between them, but Taecyeon didn't have time to be curious.

"I should probably go see what kind of trouble these kids have gotten into" he said to Chansung, then to MinJun with just the smallest hint of regret he added "It was nice meeting you guys"

Perhaps that bit of weakness was his downfall. Had he remained stoic and uncaring, had he never allowed himself one last glance the series of events that follow would've never come to be.

He was half way down the stairs when he felt his presence, almost at the bottom when MinJun’s hand rested on his shoulder.

"Your friend said you could probably use the help" He leaned closer as he spoke, his voice loud as he tried to be heard over the music. "So who are we looking for?"

Taecyeon didn't get a chance to answer. The first thing he noticed was the flash of pink running pass him, and immediately he ran after him. He caught up with BamBam before the kid had a chance to get far.

"What's going on?" BamBam’s eyes opened wide when he noticed whose hand had grab him, his mouth quickly running through an explanation not even he was able to make sense of.

"Where's Jackson?" Taecyeon screamed over the music. It was the first thing that came to mind. The worst case scenario already playing out in his head.

"Mark..." was all the kid said and Taecyeon was already running out in the direction BamBam was previously heading. Cursing himself for forgetting his main reason for been here tonight.

The parking lot was mostly deserted, a few onlookers crowding around a commotion not far from the where Taecyeon stood. That's where he headed, BamBam following closed behind.

Contrary to his previous assumptions it was Mark and JB standing front and center. Jinyoung hanging back as he held on to an obviously intoxicated Jackson.

"What’s going on here?” Taecyeon was not the type to start fights. He avoided confrontations if the problem could be solved with words, yet nothing about the group that stood in front of him said reasonable and understanding.

"I got this" JB growled through his teeth. The temper he tried so hard to keep in check slowly leaking from every pore in his body. Taecyeon understood the kid. Knew getting him to stand down wasn't an option.

He knew the situation wasn't ideal. He understood he should in no type of form encourage what was about to happen, but he also knew these kids. He knew the situation wouldn't have gotten to this point unless there was a strong reason behind it, and he understood, that getting them to back away first would only wound their pride. The only thing they had that was truly theirs. He understood because at one point he had been there.

He took a step forward, half his body shielding a fuming Mark when a familiar figured brush passed him. MinJun stood front and center, and the glimpse Taecyeon caught of his eyes sent a shiver down his back.

"Now is this really necessary?"

There was nothing menacing about his posture. Nothing threatening about the way the corner of his mouth twisted into a cynical smirked. Yet this wasn't the man Taec had met upstairs. There was nothing charming or inviting about him and by the glimpse of recognition in the eyes of the men that just seconds ago had been ready for an all-out brawl, Taecyeon figured there was a lot more to MinJun that he didn't know.

"Are these kids friends of yours?" One of the men questioned and Taecyeon sensed JB's anger grow, but he held back. Taecyeon's warning glance keeping him rooted in place.

"So we pick fights with college kids now? I wonder if he knows what you guys do with your free time"

MinJun’s words sounded like a taunt and by the sour expression on the man's face Taecyeon figured they were as much.

"One of this days..." The man whispered through clenched teeth, but to Taecyeon's relief he took a step back. His companions doing the same.

"One of these days what?" MinJun went on "You'll finally grow a pair and come at me like you've been wanting to. Go ahead. Try it. I'll tell him I started it."

"Don't temp me..." The man took a step forward and MinJun smile only grew wider.

"Please. Try it." He taunted "Do us both a favor and swing"

There was something familiar about the way MinJun smiled in anticipation. About the way he taunted, the way he poked all the right buttons. It reminded Taec of someone he knew well. Of once upon a time when he was young and stupid and infatuated with a boy as gutsy and fearless as the man that now stood in from of him.

"Is not worth it" One of the other man said, getting his friend to take a step back. MinJun still standing at the ready as he watched them retreat.

Every muscle in Taecyeon's body relax as the crowd dispersed and the hand that had unconsciously been gripping at Mark's shoulder loosen. The reason why they were in this situation suddenly coming back to Taecyeon.

"What were you two thinking?!" Anger and concerned leaked with each word and Mark's gaze dropped. Embarrassed.

"I could've handled it” JB said in response and it took everything in Taecyeon not to swing at the kid himself.

“No you couldn't” MinJun said in response to JB’s stubbornness. “That guy would've beaten you stupid and you would've gotten both you and your friends hurt. Now tell me how is that handling it?”

“You don't know that”

“Oh but I do. I was stupid like you once. A real idiot.” MinJun smiled as he said it “Got my beat more times then I care to admit. What's you name boy?”

For a second Taecyeon thought JB would resist further, but to his utter surprised he responded.

“Im Jaebum. And who are you?”

“A friend of Taec’s” MinJun seem amused by the gutsy kid. “Minjun. Remember that and stay out of trouble kid. You just cost me what could've been a fun night”

He spared one last glance at Taecyeon and hesitated as if to say something, but seemed to think better of it.

"I would say see you around but something tells me you don't frequent this type of places?"

It was the same guy from upstairs all over again. Taunting. Flirtatious and oh so intriguing.

"I don't" Taecyeon said before his mind could stop him "But I let me take you out to lunch when you have the time. As a thank you for helping these idiots at least"

MinJun thought about it for just a second and yet to Taecyeon it felt like a life time. He should've known he was hooked right there and then. Should've taken the opportunity to find a way out before it all blew up in face.

Instead they exchanged numbers, a promise to take Taecyeon on the offer, and then he was gone. Getting lost in the crowd. Into a world Taecyeon had walked away from a long time ago.

A world he was now willing to walk right back into of it meant seeing him again.
