Three Months Later   “Have a good day at school, son.”   At his mother’s words, Namjoon looked back at the door to see a smile on her tired face. He attempted one back before walking out into the hall. The fake smile dropped, and his usual tired expression was on his face as he pushed the elevator button.   Due to one of his brothers breaking an arm recently, his family’s financial situation had worsened. His father had been promoted, but his salary sometimes came in and sometimes didn’t. His own wages stayed the same.   Sighing, Namjoon ruffled his hair in frustration. He had extended his hours at the gas station, and it was driving him mad. His boss had recently broken up with his girlfriend, which meant that the anger would be taken out on the workers. It was hard enough to handle customers.   Deciding to pass on taking the bus, Namjoon walked down the street filled with people going their own way. He wondered whether Jungkook and Taehyung would come to school today.   After Nari’s funeral, they were the only ones he hadn’t lost contact with. The only reason was because they were in the same class.   But to be honest, he didn’t know much about what was going on with them recently. All he knew was that Jungkook sometimes didn’t go home and Taehyung still got beaten at times.   He was too busy with his own situation to take care of anyone else.   Three months since Nari left. Everything was slowly falling apart.   ~~   When Jungkook opened the door, the smell of alcohol pierced his nose. Cringing, he closed the door behind him and the light.   What greeted him were empty bottles of soju and a sleeping Yoongi.   Sighing, he took off his shoes and put down his backpack before walking over to the older boy.   It had been about a month since Yoongi had become like this. After the two funerals, he’d focused entirely on his work, extending his hours as long as he could. Figuring that was how he dealt with the pain, Jungkook had left him alone despite knowing it wouldn’t do any good.   However, that only lasted for two months until Yoongi realized it didn’t fill the void in his chest. Ever since, he’d resorted to drinking. Jungkook didn’t know how he managed to buy alcohol despite him not being of age yet.   “Hyung,” Jungkook looked down at Yoongi and called. Nudging him with a foot, he called again, this time a bit louder, “Hyung! Get up.”   “Go away…” came back the weary reply as Yoongi turned away from him.   Sighing, Jungkook gave up and started collecting the empty bottles to throw away. While walking to the kitchen, he discovered a chair blocking the door to her room. Looking back at his sleeping hyung, the familiar sorrow permeated his heart.   ~~   The sound of utensils against plates was the only thing heard in the dining room. Jimin picked at his food, not having an appetite.   “Honey, are you not hungry?” his mother asked from across the table.   Without answering, Jimin pushed away his plate and stood up. “I’ll go to school now.” Bowing to his parents, he grabbed his bag. But before he could walk out, his father’s voice stopped him.   “I better not catch you dancing again. Who did you take after to get into such an atrocious thing?” Shaking his head, he wiped his mouth with a napkin. “Don’t be a waste of everything we’ve done for you.”   His back aching from yesterday, Jimin bowed again without answering and came out of the room. All the way to school inside the family car, he didn’t say a word and looked out the window, his eyes grazing over everything that passed by.     “Park Jimin.
