Manic Pixie Dream Girl

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The Manic Pixie Dream Girl is a female character (though Manic Pixie Dream Boys do exist) who is pretty much a breath of fresh air. She is someone who's adventurous, easily wears her heart on her sleeve and has many quirks. Her main purpose is to basically pull a character out of his or her funk, so to speak, and get the character to loosen up and live more freely and spontaneously.

TIPS AND SUGGESTIONS:
- Manic Pixie Dream Girls can be a second love interest as the happier, more adventurous 1/3 of a love triangle. They can also be an option for a new romance of a character after a break up, usually to contrast with the ex-girlfriend who's likely the opposite in personality.

- Manic Pixie Dream Girls help the protagonist or another character find happiness without expecting anything for herself.

- Character development is essentially so they don't appear as static characters

EXAMPLES:
- Noda Megumi from Nodame Cantabile

- Suoh Tamaki from Ouran High School Host Club (Manic Pixie Dream Boy)

- Yuri from Angel Beats

- Ellie from Up

- Giselle from Enchanted

- Clementine from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

- Leslie from Bridge to Terabithia

- Midori from Norwegian Wood

- Phoebe from Friends

- Lois Lane from Smallville

- Penny from The Big Bang Theory
