30th December, 2010

The snow fell on the glass window and in a short while, the snow had fully covered the whole window. Taehyung let out a sigh before he looked towards the door. He took a pillow from the couch, hugging it tightly to his chest. He lay down on the couch, still hugging the pillow. Another sigh escaped his lips as he stared at the ceiling. Why isn’t she here yet?

Taehyung pouted as he sat up and took his phone from the coffee table. The screen lit up and Taehyung immediately sat up with a huge smile on his face. He immediately unlocked his phone and read her message.

[Raenie] Tae… I’ll be slightly late. Something important came up with Yoongi. I’m sorry.

The smile on his face disappeared and was replaced with a frown. Was her boyfriend more important than her best friend?

[TaeTae] It’s okay… I’ll cook us something to eat. Make sure you stay warm, alright?

Taehyung placed his phone on the coffee table and placed the pillow back on the couch. He stood up and walked inside the kitchen. The house was quiet and empty. His parents were out of the country for business and had called to talk with Taehyung in the morning. They had chatted for a good half an hour before ending the call.

He opened up the fridge and took out some ingredients. He had decided to cook spaghetti, which was both Jirae’s and his favourite. Time past and Taehyung had already cooked finish. He settled the two plates on the dinning table before he walked back towards the coffee table to take his phone. The sky was already turning dark and Jirae have not arrived at his house yet. He let out a sigh as he looked at his phone. There were no messages from her. He looked towards the door, hoping she would walk through the door any moment.

As if on cue, the door bell rang. Taehyung brightened, a huge grin on his face. He ran towards the door and unlocked it. "Taehyungie!" Jirae exclaimed as she engulfed Taehyung into a hug.

The boy was slightly taken aback by her surprise hug yet, he wrapped his arms around her and hugged her back. "I'm sorry I'm late, Tae!" she said, a smile plastered on her face. Taehyung shook his head. "It's alright. Come in, it's cold outside."

Jirae picked up the things that were settled on the ground before walking in. Taehyung looked at her weirdly. "Is that for me?" Jirae shook her head as she playfully rolled her eyes at him. "Nope, it's for me. It's my birthday today."

She placed the giant lion doll, which had birthday balloons tied around it's right wrist, on the couch. Taehyung let out a scoff. "Happy birthday, Rae." The girl threw her head back and laughed. "Happy birthday, you dork."

He grinned at her as he motioned for her. "Let's eat."

Jirae nodded her head. She walked towards the kitchen and placed the white box inside the fridge. Taehyung raised a brow at her but she simply ignored him. She settled down in her seat. "Aren't we eating?" she asked with a sly smile on her face. Taehyung gave her a suspicious look before he sat opposite of her and started eating.

"Say, Taehyung-ah."

The said boy ate a spoonful of spaghetti as he looked up at Jirae with raised brows.

"Do you like anyone now?"

Taehyung stopped chewing on his food, thinking deeply about her question. How does it feel to be in love? Jirae immediately took note of his behavior. "Oh! My Kim Tae have grown up already!" He scrunched his nose as he shook his head.

"How do you even know if you like someone?"

"The feeling of loving someone can be absolutely amazing. You would want to be with this person all your life. This person can always cheer you up no matter how ty your day was. You want see this person everyday, every hour, every minute, every second. Their happiness means the most to you. You like everything about them, even their flaws. To others, that person have many flaws but to you, this person is perfect. Not forgetting to mention, your heart beats extremely fast whenever you're around them or thinking about them. Yet, loving someone can also be the worst feeling. Especially if your love is one-sided."

Jirae looked up at her best friend once again, seeing his reaction. "So do you like anyone?" She didn't get a reply since Taehyung was deep in thought. Her words left him speechless. It was everything Taehyung felt. Yet, she said those were the feeling one should feel when you're in love. Love was a deep word. The feeling was much deeper than liking someone. Taehyung's eyes doubled.

"Tae?"

The boy shook his head. "I don't like anyone, Raennie."

"Ayyy," she teased, not believing his words. Nevertheless, she stood up after eating finish before heading towards the kitchen. She took out the white box that was in the fridge and walked back to the dinning table. Taehyung watched as she opened up the box, taking out a cake from the box. "I baked you a cake!" She smiled at the boy. "I lied when I told you something important came up. I was actually baking a cake."

Taehyung couldn't help but smile brightly at her, his heart fluttering in his chest. "It took longer than I expected. Failed it once and baked another," she smiled sheepishly as she rubbed the back of her neck. "I hope it's edible."

Taehyung was about to cut the cake when she quickly stopped him. "Hold on, Tae. I haven't sing you your birthday song." She quickly ran back into the kitchen and took out a lighter. She lit the candles and started singing the birthday song. Taehyung smiled at her as she sang. She was indeed the most beautiful person in his life.

When she sang finish, Taehyung made a wish before blowing out the candles. He cut the cake and served her a piece before taking one for himself. He cut a small piece and popped it inside his mouth.

Jirae watched his expression with much expectation. "How is it?" Taehyung gave her a thumbs-up and nodded his head. "It's really good!" The girl immediately heaved a sigh of relief as the smile he loves the most came on her face. The male couldn't help but to smile along with her.

This was indeed the girl that he had fell hard for.

28th July, 2012

Taehyung watched as the male wrapped an arm around her waist before he lowered his head and pressed his lips against hers. The girl wrapped her arms around his neck, bringing him closer.

Taehyung immediately tore his eyes away from the couple. He pressed his lips into a thin line, attempting to keep in his cries. His heart was aching. He hated that his best friend was so in love with another man. He hated that his best friend was kissing and touching another man who wasn't him. He hated the fact that he had fallen in love with his best friend. Who knew loving could be so hard and painful?

He tucked his hands into his pockets and leaned against the wall. He leaned his head on the wall and closed his eyes, waiting for time to past before she would finally hang out with him.

Taehyung opened his eyes slowly when he felt a tap on his shoulder. He glanced to his side and the corner of his lips immediately curled up into a small smile. "Hey you," he said as ruffled her hair affectionately. Jirae whined and glared at the male while fixing her hair before giving him a slap on his arm - which wasn't a girly slap.

Taehyung scrunched his nose as he rubbed his arm but still had his signature smile on his face. He threw an arm over her shoulder. "Let's get to class before the bell rings," he said as he dragged her down the hallway. "What should I get for Jimin?" The girl asked, shifting her eyes her best friend. Taehyung hated that name so much. The guy that managed to steal her heart within just a second. What was worst was that even after 12 years of being by her side, she never once fell for him.

"For what?" He asked, pretending to not know the answer to his question. "For our first anniversary of course." Taehyung rolled his eyes. "You get him everything every monthsary and he doesn't give you back anything in return. Why bother giving him something?"

"Tae," she whined, punching his stomach lightly. The said boy let out a sigh.

"Get him a ring." Jirae immediately shook her head. "I got him that last monthsary."

"Bracelet?"

"First monthsary."

Taehyung listed everything he had in mind, with them all being rejected either because she had already given Jimin that or because she knew Jimin wouldn't like it. Taehyung threw his hands in the air. "What does he like to do?"

"Dance. The two of you have similar interests." But I would still hate him. Taehyung faked a smile. "Get him headphones then." Jirae immediately brightened at his words. "Oh my gosh. That totally reminds me. He was complaining about his old and broken headphones which also reminds me that yours are broken too. You're a genius, Taetae!" She immediately wrapped her arms around his waist to give him a short hug. The two entered their class. "By the way, I'll get you new headphones soon," she said before
