"After a while, my heart became cold. And every time I thought of loving someone, there was an inexplicable pain in my chest, as if my heartstrings snapped one by one." she said with a weak and nostalgic smile. 

Suho stared at her, the tip of his fingers tracing the edge of his mug. 

"So you blame the world for making you so cynical?" he asked, glancing back down at his tea. 
"I guess I am. I guess, I find it unfair that I ended up like this." She got up and walked over to the sink to start the dishes. Suho followed her and leaned his back on the counter next to her. 

"Then how did you two end up being friends? It seems rather unlikely that such a bright person would end up with... Well, you." he pointed to Hana sleeping on the couch with his mug. Kyungsoo was sitting on the floor next to her, brushing her hair away from her face. "No offence of course."

Mirae raised an eyebrow at him and bit the inside of her cheek, trying to suppress any profanities from rolling off her tongue.

"We found each other by accident, really." Mirae laughed quietly. "When we didn't have anyone else to turn to, we became friends by default. It sounds sad when you think about it, but it turns out that we were meant to find each other. To support each other. We bonded over dramas and music, and soon enough we became best friends. Even I often ask myself how this was even possible, but there wasn't a time I wasn't thankful."

Suho suddenly pushed himself off the counter and came closer to the sink. He passed his right hand under her left arm and began to wash the dishes with her. 

"I think it's amazing how much you care for each other." he said with a warm smile. "It's okay, I'll do the dishes. You must be tired."

Mirae glanced up at the man who was merely a few inches taller than her, and their eyes met. And after a long moment of silence, his face began to slowly close the gap between them.

“What if I were to mend your broken heartstrings?” Suho suddenly asked in a whisper.
