Missing Wheein

Los(t) Angel(es)

AUTHOR’S POV

With difficulty Krystal got into the lift, she cruelly let the limping girl beside her slumped down lifelessly on the floor.

Krystal pressed the lift button and waited until she got into the 18th floor. The level was too high for her liking but it was her sister’s, who was a bit obsessed about her birthday.

While waiting, the maknae of f(x) took out her phone only to get it back into her pocket, no signal in lifts, so clever of Soojung trying to see if she got messages.

Looking around, finally Krystal landed her eyes on the girl, who was lifelessly, abandoned by Krystal, lying down on the floor, sleeping.

Krystal was about to look away when she saw that the girl was a bit shivering.

Another sigh was heard from Krystal, it was the nth time since she met the petite girl. Soojung collected all the kindness left she had for strangers to crouch and held the petite girl up. Luckily the girl was light, but Jungs never really tried hard. Krystal still half dragged the girl got out of the lift, walked in rushing manner into her apartment.

Luckily the older Jung could open the door in one go, she almost threw the petite girl away into the hard floor, but she could restrain herself since the door was finally opened.

After they got in, the first thing Krystal did was throwing the stranger onto the couch, then went back outside to lock the door and took off her shoes.

She really abandoned the stranger and took her time picking the food she wanted to heat up. Deciding at mac and cheese she plugged the microwave and did the heating up. She was about to get water when she saw the sleeping girl on the couch, more like head on couch, shoulder at the edge of the couch and feet on the carpeted floor.

Krystal was never been someone older in her peer so she didn’t know how to treat someone younger well. But she was called sunbae, didn’t mean she was older, Krystal smiled as she decided that she shouldn’t take care of the stranger. She was baby Jung after all.

When the microwave dinged, humanity kicked her senses again. The stranger was stranger but still now she was a guest in JungSis’ apartment, she remembered about the rule of being nice to guest that Jessica made.

Tapping her fingers onto the counter that separated the open kitchen and living room, Krystal thought that it would be better to get something for the stranger.

But what should she get for the hoobae girl?

Fried rice? Hainan chicken rice? Kentucky?

Steak?

“Ah… Steak… My long awaited steak that I should let go for tonight.” Suddenly the mac n cheese she made looked unappetizing.

Because of the steak thought.

What about Porridge? Krystal opened the cabinet and found a package of instant porridge that she remembered she had.

Now.

How did Jessica make this porridge alive?

Reading the instruction only to make Krystal giving up.

She needed to boil water and she was too lazy for that, leaving the porridge alone on the counter, Krystal headed to the couch, bringing her heated up mac n cheese.

When Krystal stood right beside the couch, humanity or we might call it angelic side of Krystal by now, her and made her putting down the bowl onto the coffee table in front of her.

She pulled the stranger’s feet with all her might and made the stranger lied down straight on her back.

Satisfied with what she had done, Krystal took a seat on a single seated sofa beside the couch and started digging in. She was really hungry.

It wasn’t even her second spoonful of macaroni when she heard a grumbling noise from the stranger’s tummy.

Krystal almost shouted her lungs out when she felt the obligation to do something about it.

Stomping on her feet when she walked back into the kitchen, Krystal thought she deserved an award of being a good kid.

Boiling water on the pot, she did.

-

Putting down the tray on the coffee table, the older girl looked at the sleeping girl. The girl looked much younger with her make up almost fully erased.

Krystal wondered if the girl was younger than her, she thought the stranger was older because of the fully make up face but seeing the situation now, she decided that they were at least same age. It would be easier for Krystal since she was a bit hard to be approached by someone other than same age persons.

The now eating macaroni girl learnt that the sleeping girl had a dimple. It showed when the hamster look alike girl moved her cheek while sleeping. Then another thing about the hamster like girl was learnt, she was actually cute.

But Krystal shrugged the fact off as she used her toe to wake Wheein up.

It wasn’t because Krystal was impolite, but she was too lazy and she had her hands full and the porridge couldn’t wait too long.

The puppy eyed girl stirred and blinked twice before looking around.

“Mmm…” Half asleep the petite girl stared at her surround.

“Is this the hotel, Oppa?” Krystal almost smacked the stup…she meant the stranger, for calling her Oppa.

“Wake up.” Coldly, the older girl called up.

Wheein realized the situation she was in when she heard the cold tone from her…

“Oh, Sunbae-nim…” Even though her head was aching, she still sat up and bowed politely.

Krystal could see that the girl before her was trying to not showing how hurt her head was. She bit her lower lip, feeling guilty for being so cold.

“Cut the crap and thank me for making you a bowl of porridge.” Still didn’t get why the petite girl before her kept calling her sunbae, Krystal just pushed the bowl closer to where Wheein was sitting.

Wheein nodded, “Thank you sunbae-nim…”

“I’m not your sunbae.” The older girl could see the younger girl was mumbling to herself like ‘idol blahblahblah’ but she didn’t care much.

“Alright…” Awkwardly Wheein smiled toward Krystal, even though it was forced, Krystal couldn’t lie that it was somewhat cute.

“What’s your name?”

Wheein cleared first as she prepared herself to introduce herself, “My na…”

“Oh right, you need to drink, wait up.” Krystal left the younger girl when the girl was about to say something.

The younger girl just sighed when she was really left by the apartment owner.

“Here.” Krystal came back with a glass of water, she put it on the coffee table then sat back, folding her legs on the single seated sofa.

Wheein took the water, “Thank you…”

“Don’t mention it.”

Surprisingly, Krystal was actually nice. She seemed cold but she was actually a very nice girl. Wheein took note that Moonbyul didn’t make mistake when having a girl crush.

“So, your name?” Train of thought was stopped when Krystal asked the latter for the introduction.

Finishing the water, Wheein put the glass back on the table and smiled, brighter this time, “My name is…”

The doorbell rang, stopping Wheein and making Krystal left the girl for the 2nd time, “Oh wait, it must be my sister.”

Krystal left Wheein to open the door.

Wheein stared at the picture that was hung up on the wall.

Krystal & Jessica’s picture.

“It can’t be true…I’m in JK HOUSE! OMG! I’M WITH CELEBRITIES!!!”

Wheein almost squealed to herself when she realized something.

“What the hell is wrong with my sudden rapid heartbeat, I’m an idol too………………..”

The beagle idol forgot that she was one too.

-

“What took you so long?” It was the first thing Krystal asked when the older sister showed up at the door.

“Sorry, Kryssie. The team meeting took longer than I thought, we were going to add our denim collection, that’s why.” Jessica noticed the long face her younger sister had.

“But I buy you these!”

Krystal couldn’t help but peeking, she saw her favorite yoghurt in the smaller plastic, “Alright, forgiven.”

Jessica poked Krystal’s shoulder for acting like she was really angry.

The sisters laughed together as they walked arm in arm together into their shared apartment.

Jessica stopped laughing when she saw another human in the living room.

“Your friend?” Jessica smiled at nervous Wheein.

Krystal shrugged as she took the yoghurt and opened the package, digging in.

Wheein swore to God she never met someone so bipolar, it wasn’t even 2 minutes before Krystal staring at her with concern asking for her name, getting her water then now she acted like she didn’t care.

“Hello there, I’m Jessica, Krystal’s older sister, who are you?” Unlike Krystal, Jessica was a bit friendlier, even though Wheein could feel defensive tone from the girl, but Wheein could tell that Jessica opened up more to strangers.

“Hello, Jessica-sunb-ssi, I’m Wheein, Jung Wheein.” Krystal could tell that the girl almost called her sister sunbae too, but she was more interested with the same surname they shared.

“Jung? I’m a Jung too, my name is Jung Sooyeon.” Jessica smiled as she took another plastic, “Have you eaten yet? I’ve bought chicken for me and Soojung, but as always, we couldn’t finish it, so having another person will be necessary.”

Wheein stared at Jessica and Krystal, they both looked like Goddesses…But what mattered the most was, “Don’t they know about Mamamoo?”

At the thought of Mamamoo.

The members.

Had they realized that Wheein wasn’t with them?

Wheein suddenly stood up, “I-I gotta go!”

Jessica looked surprised while Krystal raised her brow.

“Where do you wanna go?” Wheein tried hard to remember the hotel’s name when Krystal asked the question.

“I-I had a hotel booked for me and my members, but I couldn’t remember the name.” Wheein tried to give clues for the sisters.

“Members? What group are you in? You aren’t a basketball player, aren’t you?” The sisters smiled at the thought of Wheein playing basketball. She was too tiny for that.

Wheein rolled her eyes, “I’m Jung Wheein from Mamamoo.”

Wheein smiled triumphantly as now she could let the Jung sisters knowing her identity.

It felt like a superhero opening up about their identity.

The petite girl waited for a series of, ‘Umm…’, ‘Oooh!’ , ‘Aaah!’ or ‘Yeah!’

But there was nothing.

Krystal was still eating the yoghurt as if nothing happened, she thought the name was somewhat familiar but she couldn’t recall.

While Jessica stared at Wheein suspiciously, Wheein knew that the oldest Jung knew something.

“Are you…” Jessica stopped then tilted her head to her side, thinking.

“Yess…?” Wheein knew that the oldest girl knew her.

“Is Mamamoo….”

“Yes yes!” Wheein was excited, the sunbae knew her group.

“Is Mamamoo the name of local single parented family support community?”

Wheein couldn’t help but letting her jaw dropped.

The middle Jung laughed her off, “Omg, Jessi. IT’S MAMA MAMA!”

The older of the Jung sisters realized the name then laughed her off too.

Wheein could feel her head became dizzy again. She sat down on the couch, didn’t know what to say to the laughing sisters.

There were no cold stares or intimidating gestures, there were two dorky sisters laughing their asses off because of not-so-funny thing.

“I’m sorry, omg HAHAHHAHA! Okay. Hhh. Are you hungry? Let’s just eat this first.” Jessica served the kitchen on the coffee table and gestured Krystal to sit beside her.

Krystal joined the table then opened to the chicken her sister took for her.

Quietly Wheein joined the sisters, she ate in silence.

“So, what’s Mamamoo?”

Wheein raised her head up to Krystal, the Sunbae was sure beautiful with her hair down and without make up.

“It’s a vocal group.”

“Aah, a choir girl.” Jessica’s statement made Wheein lost her soul.

Krystal nodded understandingly as she continued eating.

“What’re you doing then in US? You clearly couldn’t speak English from what I seen in police station. And…what did you do there?” Jessica looked at Krystal then to Wheein, police station wasn’t place for anyone.

What did the stranger do there and HOW COULD HER SISTER TOOK THAT KIND OF STRANGER INTO THEIR SHARED APARTMENT.

“I’m here for an event with my members and I was going to report something.” Jessica looked at the stranger, “What is it?”

“I….”

Krystal stopped eating as she felt the tensed situation.

Jessica got her phone with her, she almost dialed her manager number, she didn’t want a criminal in her house after all. She had enough trouble.

“I got lost…”

The sisters looked somehow relieved, but when they looked at each other, “BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA! I thought this girl killed her choir member.”

“MUAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Same here, Unnie. I thought this Jung was going to report herself for being a sasaeng fan.”

Wheein really almost sold her soul to the devil when she found herself smiling at the laughs the sisters shared.

It was contagious.

And finally Wheein joined the laughing spree, the sisters laughed even more because of the laugh Wheein let out.

It was the first laugh Wheein had that night.

-

"Any news?" Hwasa shook her head then cried along with her leader.

Moonbyul could only sigh, she missed the puppy of the group.

"I-It was my fault... I- shouldn't left her... It was my fault..." Solar kept blaming herself but Hwasa and Moonbyul hugged her tight saying that it wasn't her fault.

Tears streamed down on their cheeks.

They missed Jung Wheein.
