Introduction: Hello, my name is Y/N. I’m from New York and I’m 21 years old. I just graduated college and I’m a professional photographer for the New York Times.

Reaction to WGM: My mom freaked out when I told her I was going to be married. It was really funny. *laughing* Honestly, it’s definitely going to be an experience because I’m having a Korean husband. I am kind of worried about communicating with him because I only know how to speak English and Spanish. I don’t want to confuse him.

Any past relationships: I’ve only had one boyfriend in my life and that was when I was in high school. He was a jerk to me and I was stupid enough to fall for him. He cheated on me after 2 months. I’ve dated but never got into another relationship.

Were you ever in love: I thought I was in love back then. I guess I don’t really know what love is. That’s what makes me so nervous about being married to my husband. Wow, I feel weird for saying married and husband. *laugh*

I was in the backseat of the van, getting driven around Seoul to where I was going to meet my “husband”. The cameraman sitting next to me hands me a red mission card. I open it and read the mission. “Today, your husband will come to meet you. You will make a welcoming dessert while you wait at the meeting location.” I chuckle because I was an expert at making desserts, thanks to my mom teaching me. “I think I’ll make a cake. I wonder if he likes strawberries.” I sighed and look out the window, watching the buildings pass by until we finally reach our destination: A beach house. “Wow!” I got out of the van in excitement. “When is he coming?” The cameraman checks his watch. “In about 3 hours.” “Oh, that’s a lot of time.” I suddenly remembered the mission. “The cake! I have to make the cake!” I ran inside the beach house with the camera crew following me. I find the kitchen and noticed all the ingredients are laid out on the counter for me to make the cake. After an hour and half, my cake was finally complete. I made a cake with a strawberry layer in the middle, covered it in white frosting and covered the sides with strawberry slices. The top of the cake had a heart in the middle made out of strawberry pieces. Now I had to get ready to meet my “husband”.

An hour and a half later:

Introduction: HAHAHAHA…! Hello, my name is Key from SHINee. Nice to meet you.

Reaction to WGM: Aaaaah, I can’t believe I’m doing this show. I was upset when Taemin was picked first for WGM. But he had a happy marriage with Naeun so I hope it will be the same for me.

Feelings on meeting wife: I was told that she’s from the States. New York, they told me. I haven’t been to New York in a while. New York does have a lot of pretty girls so I’m nervous to meet my wife. My mom thought it was weird that I was going to have an American wife. It might be because of cultural differences. I’ll have to wait and see.

Key is driving to a beach house. As he parks his car in the driveway, he is given a red mission card. He opens the card. “Your wife is waiting on the patio with a special surprise for you. She is nervous to meet you.” Key laughs. “I’m nervous too!” He exits his car and walks around the beach house to get to the back. “This is a nice house. I wish I could live here.” He looks up and saw a woman sitting in a chair, her back facing him and her hair was moving thanks to the gentle breeze. He covers his mouth and laughs quietly. “Oh, I’m so nervous.” He walks up the steps of the patio.

Before you met your wife: I was so nervous. My heart was pounding the whole time. I didn’t want to embarrass myself. I thought she looked beautiful even though I didn’t see her face then. *laughs*

I sat in my chair. My foot is bouncing from being so nervous. I heard footsteps and saw the backside of someone before he turned around and stepped onto the patio. He had white blonde hair and he was wearing a long coat. “Hello.” My ears perk up when he was greeting me. “You speak English? I mean, hello.” “Yes, I speak English.” He sat in the chair across from me, looking down at the cake. “Is this for me?” “Yes, it is.” His smile gets bigger. “Thank you so much. It looks delicious.” He looks up to me. “My name is Key. It’s nice to meet you.” He held out his hand for me to shake. “Key. Like house key?” Key bursts out laughing and I blush in embarrassment, hiding my reddening cheeks behind my hands. “Yes, like house key!” His laughing dies down. “What about your name?” “My name is Y/N.” “Oh, Y/N. That’s a pretty name.” “Thank you. Um, would you like some cake?” “Sure, thank you.” I cut up a slice of the cake I made and gave him a piece before I served myself a piece. “I will eat this well.” He took a bite. “Wow, this cake is really delicious.” “Thank you, Key.” Key pats his mouth with a napkin. “How old are you?” “I’m 21 years old.” “I’m 24. So that means you can call me Key oppa.” “Key oppa.” “Or just oppa for short.” “Oh, okay.” “Do you have a name you want me to call you?” “Um, just Y/N is okay.” “Then it’s settled.” “Okay, Key oppa.”

How you felt after meeting Key: I was worried about being able to communicate with him but when he said “hello” to me, my worries started to go away. Key oppa is a gentleman. Although I was still very nervous talking with him, I remembered that this was our first meeting so I can’t really communicate that well with him yet.

How Key felt after meeting Y/N: I thought she looked very beautiful. She looks very young and I thought she was 18 at first. My wife is young! *laughs* I knew that she was very nervous to meet me but I hope that we will be able to be more comfortable with each other as our marriage goes on.

“So what do you do, Key oppa?” “I’m a singer. The group is called SHINee.” “Oh, wow. That’s very cool.” “How about your job?” “I take pictures for the New York Times.” “That’s very interesting. Perhaps you can come to our concert and take pictures.” “Oh, sure. I would love to do that.” “My members might tease us because we are married.” I chuckle in nervousness. “Maybe your members are jealous?” “Actually, Taemin, our maknae, did the show last year with a girl group singer.” “Wow, did he like it?” “It’s a little different from our marriage but he did like having a wife and he was pretty upset when he had to leave the show because of our tour schedule.” “Oh, that’s too bad.” A cameraman left a red mission card on the table and Key grabs it and read it aloud. “The husband and wife will be living in this beach house for the duration of the marriage. Rest well tonight as Key will be performing in concert and Y/N will be an official photographer.” I gasp in delight. “Oh wow, your wish came true!” “Have you taken pictures at a concert before?” “Yes, I’ve taken lots of pictures at concerts. This will be easy.” “I should let you know about the other members then.” Key took out his phone and pulled up a picture of them, showing it to me. It looked like it was from a concert because they had their headsets on. He pointed to each member. “This is Onew, he’s our leader. And this is Jonghyun, Minho and our maknae Taemin. He’s the one who did the show before.” “Oh, I can’t wait to meet them.” “I think they are looking forward to meeting you too.” Key opens his camera. “Let’s take a picture.” “Oh, okay.” Key and I stood up and I stood next to him as he held up his camera. “1, 2, cheese!” He takes the picture.

Key’s reaction about mission: I think she will do an amazing job. She doesn’t seem to be as nervous as I originally thought so it kind of helps me feel a little more relaxed when I introduce her to the other members.

Your reaction about mission: I’ve done a lot of photography at New York concerts so I’m not too nervous about this mission. I am a little nervous about meeting the members though. Will they like me? I’m getting along with Key pretty well so I hope it will be the same with them. Wait a minute, do they speak English too? *Director shakes his head* Oh boy, this is going to be interesting.
