* hover over pic for more information. it's funny how easily life can begin at one moment and end the other. no matter how hard jinri tries to grasp onto it, life slips away like sands between her fingers. or the water that rushes through her toes when she's nine and carefree. and her parents are smiling and waving for her to come back because it's time for them to go. the beach would still be here in the morning. they promise. then she blinks and suddenly she's fifteen going on sixteen. her parents aren't smiling anymore. her dad reeks with alcohol and stains of knee high debt. her mom is soaked in tears and decides she isn't strong enough to stay. the beach will have to come another day. taking a deep breath, she's eighteen and her father leaves her with a bloodstained bathroom filled with i.o.u's and 'sorry kiddo. i tried'. she thinks maybe she never left the beach at all. now she's twenty two suffocating under the currents of the past. there's no such things as dreams. just jobs to get her by, money to make and people to serve. despite all that jinri still has hope. hopes of one day returning to shore with a fist full of wet sand. with her life in control.

setting: post apocalyptic. scientists predicted by year 3010, the world would go into rapid extinction & become a place no longer sustainable for humanity. in 2097, scientists declared life on mars. by 3005, more than three fourths of civilization have left earth for another home.

the time is now 3008, the earth is now in a state of chaos. barriers have fallen. food is now scarce. everyone is looking for a way to go to mars. seoul is no exception. when the seoul tower finally crumbled in late 3006, the city itself. no longer is it a city of hopes in dreams. no such thingas love. but in the midst of turmoil, choi jinri still held faith.

background: scavenging for food with her family & lover, everything fell apart when the seoul tower collapsed. saved by her lover, she was pushed to the other side where she stumbled away to safety. only to be hit in the head by flying debris. when she woke up, she finds herself alone in the deafening silence. no sign of her family anywhere.

since then, she's been on her own on a mission to find her family, whom she believes are on their way to a safepoint in order to go to mars.
