Eunji and Wendy do good within their constraints. Irene meets Seulong and they get some closure on Doma. Moonbyul and Joy are absolutely chaotic delights, as always
Chapter 27: this chapter was so cute and emotional UGH after every new (or old) B+R chapter i always need to go lie down for one reason or another lmao. this one was no different. there were so many moments that made me go [old_man_clutches_chest.png]... let's make a list shall we
- joy/byul's care and trust for seulgi and irene (they are the official seulrene enablers now, as they have become in real life as well apparently lol) also the dynamic they have with each other is so fun.
- wendy :( she has all this trauma. literal war flashbacks. she sees the destruction and doubts if she was the cause of it, even though she knows it was the magitek armors :((( baby. seeing this scene from the last chapter on her pov was so..... wendy and irene, they're both so overcome by loneliness and guilt. and like this parallel about being left behind. wendy internally pleading irene to not leave her, seulgi saying she'll never leave irene again.... PAIN (this theme extended thru the whole chapter tho like. eunji feeling guilty about how she left wendy but also knowing there was no other way, then irene dreaming of loneliness, even seulong thinking no one would know to come for him. tasty.)
- btw petition to replace cyan's storyline in the game with seulgi/seulong. (a little story for you: when i was playing ffvi i tried to name every character as their counterpart in B+R, and so after many calculations i figured i should name cyan seulgi. which i did. and then proceeded to literally never use cyan ever and i got so mad) anyway kang siblings were cute :( seulgi's family overall. canon dynamics. also the way they interacted with irene, i love. specially seulgi's mom by the end lol that kind of stuff always cracks me up. also when seulgi had to interrupt the flashback bc she was embarrassed at the dramatics lmao
- the way irene had to be constantly pushed back down on the bed. she is so
- i had completely forgotten seulgi had gone blonde until my re-read from last month. it gave me so much whiplash
- somi coincidentally piloting the sky armor for eunji lol i wonder in what kind of Shenanigans™ will these two get into. ALSO. somi learning how to get in and turn on the sky armor by watching the others. that brings us to yet another little story. i wasn't sure who gau was while i was playing (and i know not everything is a direct parallel to the original) but i had a hunch it was somi. so i named my gau somi and this pretty much validates my choice whether you intended it or not. so. SOMI YOUR FRIEND! FRIEEEEEND!!! I JOIN YOU AGAIN
- (i read that phrase so many times. i spent so many hours farming in the veldt. i'm the one having war flashbacks now)
- your descriptions of the poisoning in doma...... that was so ed up and you captured it perfectly lol (but like a nervous, anguished lol)
- NEXT CHAPTER IS YERI TIME EVERYBODY SCREEEAM. i'm excited. time to be SAD. (i wonder how you will adapt this..... i know it's gonna be better than the game bc so far Everything Has™ (maybe i'm biased but i don't care. in haro we trust))
- ok so NOW. I HAVE SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST. THE SEULRENE. god i was losing it constantly. just. They™. you can now retire your "seulrene bait writer" card (i mean you could have eons ago but anyway) bc this is IT. like the whole symbolism of seulgi getting past the freezing cold to get to irene, irene's OWN feezing cold. It Kills The (wo)Man™. irene dreaming about the loneliness and the cold and waking up with seulgi by her side. and then the hands. oh my god. seulgi holding her hand and then irene grabbing seulgi's hand when she interrupted her brother. and then seulgi noticing irene was going Thru It™, getting her brother to leave, and dropping the bomb that its been A WEEK. and the whole scene that followed. god. irene wanting to get up, seulgi having to pin her down, irene only calming down when seulgi opens up about her worry over irene, and then we have them holding each other while irene cries. i can't. i can't do this. goodbye

(i just finally finished playing thru FFVI and i want to read all of this again but it's like 4am... i remember having really really loved this chapter even before listening to the song for the first time, and when i first heard it i loved it so much that it pushed me into looking for the game and asking you about it and then the rest is history. idk why i'm even leaving this comment here i'm just in my feelings. i'm always saying irene is my favorite character in b+r but joy..... damn, joy. now i'm gonna go lie down, figuratively bc my emotions but also literally bc i need to sleep. expect more comments from me soon lol. thank you so much for this fic, again. can't wait to see everything else with completely new eyes now)

Just. Wow. I can imagine the last scene happening vividly. Diamond Dust, what a sight. You wrote every scene so well, it's very easy for readers to get immersed.
And that drawn picture at the beginning of the chapter is really good.
I hope someone find Irene soon. I'm worried about her.
Totally not surprised that Seulgi was the one who messed up the plan, since she's only civilians after all, and her emotions would be dominating here in her own hometown rather than her logic. Hope nothing worse would happen to her family.
I guess Wendy got some sort of flashback (or regained more of her partial memories) during the fight? Gahhh I wish they're all safe.
If we're following the game, then this would be the beginning of Leeteuk's betrayal towards the Emperor, starting with him being unsatisfied and angry, then the takeover of power.
Somi better stay hidden.
