Do you like reading author's notes?

Or does it depend? And any reasons why or why not?

I always read author's notes as the reader. It is because I also write and it disheartens me when people ignore my notes near the end. U.U

Hmm.. As a reader, I would read author's note.. Because I understand how much time and efforts they take to write that chapter and also the struggles they are facing..besides commenting about the story, I hope I would give them words of encouragement too..

As a writer in the process of working hard, I leave notes in almost all my chapters. I used that to thank my readers, telling them I really appreciate them.. But after reading all the comments here, I think maybe I should stop..

As a writer I don't feel it's really important on every single chapter, and it doesn't need to be very long, two sentence will suffice!

As a reader, if I'm in love with the story I'll read it with a smile, unless it is too long! I'll just pass over it. But really, they never bother me even if I'm not interested to read them.

I always read the author's notes especially if I'm interested in the story

It depends. I usually leave author's notes, but it's something that's usually relevant to the story. I use it to share my thoughts or expound on things that may have been unclear in the chapter. As for using it to blog about my personal life, I hardly do that. I think there's a morr suitable venue for that and not in my stories.

Most of the time I do, but it does depend on the content of those notes.

I do enjoy author notes, but if they're in every chapter, it gets a bit much, I think.

It depends. If what the author says is interesting then I like to read them. :)

I do it. It's always interesting to see what's in the author's head at the time~

I use it to communicate to my readers, but I don't think it's necessary.

I love to! And as a writer, I usually write a one or two sentences in my a/n but it's always relevant to the story

it depends. i sometimes do and i sometimes don't.
as an author myself, i don't do author's note, unless it's relevant to the story.
other than that, no.
but like most have said, it helps to feel close with the author and makes them approachable.
it just gets annoying when they use it to rant about their lives, like others have said as well~

also it makes you know is the author is going through problems so you can cheer them up.

I lovedd itttt, because it makes you feel more clear or close to the writter or a least thats how I feel.

I do because sometimes the author will explain some stuff about the chapter, and some announcements for things. So yeah, I like reading the author's notes.

Yeah. Just cause it's there and feel a bit bad and very curious if i don't read it.

Yes bc it's interesting to see what the author has to say on his/her own story/chapter

For longer stories, yes. For shorter stories, no. Like Korekrypta said, too many writers use it to blog about their life. (I've done that too lmao I'm gonna stop that.) Also I feel like if there are author's notes, the author is more... er... approachable

No. And I say this as an author as well.

I will read an a/n if it's short and/or if it's relevant to the story/the author is giving information about updates. Too many writers use it as a platform to basically blog about their life. There's a whole area of the site for that in the blog posts section.

I don't mind it if the author uses an a/n to give a picture dump of stuff that's relevant to the story either.

As an author I wouldn't expect any of my readers to read through an a/n that wasn't relevant to the story or updating patterns either. I mean, the readers are there for the story, not the author's note.

I read them because I feel like I have to. It's like school, you have to go there whether you like it or not.
