Should I Block This Person?

I am a bit disturbed that this writer keeps mentioning me in every single one of their stories forewords. The weird part is I have never talked to them before this whole thing started, so I am starting to get a bit weirded out. It's not just one of their stories, but five, and it's just now starting to make me uncomfortable. Should I just block them or ask them to stop?

Edit: I know it is a function, but I did not know this, and I did message them in the perspective of someone who is unaware of this. I just want to discuss this with them, since it was just in an odd spot so it seemed weird to me.

@Emilieee I didn't even know that existed till today, I just feel awkward now and embarrassed so I apologized for it to them, no response but that is even more dreadful.

@Oreoyumyum304 Ah, okay, you sounded as if you were going to ask them to remove it below (though I read the edit, so I deleted the comment). It did throw me off when I first saw the function too.

@Emilieee Now that I am aware of it, it really doesn't bother me. I am not asking them to remove it, I just was clueless about the whole thing and I felt it was directed towards me. :P

@hopelesswriter I was unaware of this, and I am sure there are others who are just like me and find that disturbing.

@KalaCR I am an easy person to creep out, but as someone who was unaware about this function, it seemed disturbing.

the feature is provided by asianfanfics, you can't really ask them to stop using it since that's their right, no matter for what kinda story...what you can do...the easier solution...just don't go into their story if it makes you uncomfortable...i assure you your name won't appear without your knowledge or anything. it only appear for those who go into the stories. i don't use this feature, sometimes when i check out fics...i see my name...but no biggie really, if they're using that 'you' coding/function....they don't even know your/any readers... name...it's just a standard default setting thing...

@Oreoyumyum304 I mean, I feel like it's personal preference. I rarely find things creepy so maybe that's why it doesn't really affect me xD

@KalaCR It's creepy when they have it as an introduction, they had it written like this "Dear -You-", where it feels like they are directing it towards you and it's externally unsettling in that sense.

@_Roxas_ They are using it as an introduction for a boy x boy story, I found out that it may be just a function on here. They used the "You" function where it insert username on here (Before this I had no clue of the function) as an introduction instead of addressing it as "Dear Reader..."

Pretty sure they're using the "you" function. Personally, I would just unsubscribe from the story and not read it if it bothered me. Some people do like the "you" function since it makes the story seem more personalized.

@stardrop That's understandable, but they are using it in every single one of their forewords for a boy x boy stories, where I see the function unnecessary. For the people who do not have a clue about the feature is certainly is creepy I feel like they should address it as "Dear Reader...", I messaged them saying something along the lines of me being creeped out because the thing is messaged to me and me personally, I asked for a response so that we could sort things out.

@Korekrypta That is disturbing. I am going to message them, because I think it's very creepy, and if I mention it to them in a subtle way (as in telling them seeing my username constantly like that and feeling like it's directed more towards me and such), so that they stop using the feature if it is going to make people.

There is a trick you can do to have an author's name on a story if they're logged in. (<you> tag). I use it a lot. If you're unsure about it, you can ask their subscribers what they see. If they see their own name then that's fine. If not, then you should consider asking them to stop first. If they keep doing it, block them.

I think you'll find that the writer is actually using the "you" feature, which means that there's a bit of coding in the foreword that they're using which automatically registers your username and supplies it there. Everybody else viewing the same story will see their own username in the same place, and if you create a new account and log in using that, you will find that the name that shows up is the one from the new account.

I personally don't like this coding feature very much because it can often come across as a bit creepy (especially if it's used a lot), not least because not everybody knows about it, but that's most likely what is happening.

There is a function where the page automatically adds your username, a lot of authors use this for you x your bias fanfics to make you feel like you are the main person in the fanfic! I'm sure the author doesn't want to bother you personally but just use this function to make the reader's name appear!
