Responsible and caring : Hwari sees all the members of GJSN as her family and looks out for them and keeps them out of trouble, even those that are older than her by many years. She makes sure to do what she needs to do before playing. She makes sure to give them words of encouragement before important events and be updated on what is happening to them, and take note of how she can make their day better.

Friendly yet reserved : Hwari loves getting to know others and she believes the best way to do so is by talking to them, about anything under the sun. However, she lacks the maturity to solve her own and other people's problems, and this leads to her suffering from caregiver burnout when she tries too hard to shoulder the weight of others' burdens.

Strict and bossy : Hwari puts expects her members to be disciplined, put all their effort into training and get everything right. She makes sure she follows her schedules and the rules set for her exactly, and often reminds her fellow trainees to do the same, even scolding the members she cares enough about for not doing so. Her elder sister tends to be overly playful, so Hwari often has to keep Taeri disciplined.

Irritable and blunt : Though Hwari is a nice girl, she has a low tolerance for bull, and if others are being overly nonsensical, she will not hesitate to tell them off and say exactly what is on her mind, even if it is mean or hurtful. She isn't someone who will pretend to be nice to someone if she dislikes them, she always makes her true feelings known. She gets annoyed by Taeri a lot as her elder sister is often playful, lazy and undisciplined.

Naive : Because she has not experienced many setbacks, Hwari tends to believe she can do anything if she believes in herself and works hard. She knows that wanting something alone doesn't necessarily mean you will get it, and hard work is not a sure way to success, but she still believes she can do anything if only she tries.

Protective : Growing up, Hwari didn't have many friends as she was a shy kid and spent most of her time studying or reading. Therefore, Hwari greatly cherishes those who were nice enough to make the effort to befriend her, and would do anything to not lose them. Mess with them? Prepare for Hwari to come for you with no mercy.

Humble : Despite being a top student and one of the best vocalists in GJSN, Hwari isn't one to overestimate her abilities or blow her own trumpet. She tries not to let fame get to her head.

background. Hwari was born to a Korean American couple in 2002 with one elder sister, Taeri. Growing up, while Taeri preferred singing and performing, Hwari was more focused on her studies. However, as her elder sister liked to sing and was in the choir, Hwari secretly developed a love of singing, and would accompany Taeri to karaoke sessions. Hwari also told her parents she wanted to take vocal lessons when she was 8 years old, but she never managed to muster up the courage to perform on stage. Due to Taeri being fun-loving, playful and irresponsible, Hwari ended up playing the role of the elder sister to Taeri, however, she did not mind.

When Hwari was 10 years old, her family had to move to Japan due to her father's work. During that time, Taeri developed an interest in anime and cosplay, and Hwari would often watch anime and sometimes do cosplay tests with her elder sister. However, unlike Taeri, Hwari did not dare to go to cosplay conventions. Taeri had a Youtube channel where she did vocal covers, and after she turned 10, Hwari became slightly braver and occasionally did covers with her elder sister. Taeri's Youtube channel was noticed by SM Entertainment in 2014 and they invited her for a closed door audition in Korea. Hwari decided to sign up for an audition too. Both sisters later passed the auditions and became SM Entertainment trainees, and debuted in the girl group GJSN in 2017.

TRAINING. The trainee life was admittedly tough for Hwari, who was only in middle school when she first started training. However, she was obedient and never really gave her trainers or managers any trouble. In addition, having her sister there for her kept Hwari going, and inspired her to work to eventually perform on the same stage as her sister. After one year in the normal trainee program, both Hwari and Taeri were chosen to be in SLJK-G. The SLJK-G training program was harder than the normal trainee program, and Taeri even said it was "like being in the 18th level of hell", which Hwari agreed. At least she appreciated the fact that she wasn't being flaunted to the public.

— I want to become a more confident person.

which seniors do you look up to?

— SNSD and Red Velvet. I feel that SNSD is a very iconic group of the second generation of K-pop. For Red Velvet, I admire them for being able to do a variety of concepts well. I believe that as an idol, I should be able to do all kinds of concepts.
