Name. 전설, Jeon Seol
Nicknames.
LEGEND.  Proof that legends aren't made, they're born. You'd think it comes from a remarkable accomplishment of hers, an outstanding achievement or a noteworthy reputation, but, Seol was just destined to be a legend. Her name, Jeon Seol, is spelt the exact same way as the korean word for legend. To her friends from and prior to high school, she's always been 레전드 (lejeondeu) or, to close friends, 레전. That's how all her work is signed: every sticker, every tote bag, every comission, every panel in her manhwas and every webtoon in her account is credited to Rejeon. So does life imitate art? That's the big question.
SOL.  Her name is a lot to live up to —Seol often doubts she ever will— but she loves it nonetheless. However, she had a phase in which she preferred to be called Sol, so it remains a nickname.
Age / DOB.  21 / March 9
Occupation.  College student and artist (aspiring cartoonist)
Face Claim.  Chaeyoung from Twice / Eunseo from WJSN / Gahyeon from Dreamcatcher
Appearance. Her key characteristics are unruly long black hair and the mole below her lips. Seol is average in height, standing at 165cm, and her body frame is rather thin (personally, she's never been bothered by not having curves). She usually goes out barefaced, but if she deems an occasion special enough to wear makeup, expect Seol to put her drawing skills to good use and go full out with her looks. Her clothing is often low-key, flowy and comfortable.

DESPERATELY LOOKING FOR A PURPOSE IN LIFE,
ALL OF TIME AND SPACE... WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO GO?
HOME"

candid, intuitive, creative, hopeful, unpretentious, empathetic, passionate, captivating
solitary, self-centered, disillusioned, repressed, melancholic, self-sabotaging, contradictory
Seol is almost intriguing in her isolation. A girl seemingly averse to company, she's quiet but not precisely reserved. You see Seol and you see someone who has no one to impress, someone unafraid to ask the "dumb" questions, someone who doesn't pretend. She laughs at whatever she finds funny (which, granted, aren't always conventional funny things), says things that only make sense to her and often says what everyone is thinking out loud. Although perhaps some quirkiness, there's no ill-intent in Seol's actions. Instead, she has an underlying goodness to her that people are drawn to. It makes perfect sense why they want to reach out.
That underlying goodness that people see in Seol is a combination of many things stacked one above the other in an endearingly chaotic way. It's her core belief (that she herself can't understand) in the idea that things can get better, that there's hope. It's how she pours every last bit of herself into her art. It's her unique worldview shaped by her creativity. It's her ability to connect with people and empathize with their feelings. This, however, is a combination that has made her miserable, she believes. Well, it has driven her to make herself miserable.
Why? Because the world hasn't been the nicest to this side of Seol. Holding out hope, having no support to pursue art, trying to reach out to people who don't empathize with her and don't want to, it's hurt her a lot. Seol doesn't want to be hurt. Therefore, with that in mind, she has decided that the only way for her to face this world is alone, looking away from so many good things about herself. Perhaps she'd be happier by just engaging in casual conversation with others and pushing them away sooner or later if they get too close too comfort. Perhaps focusing mainly if not only on herself, her art and her day to day life and desires is the way to go. She doesn't care anymore, she just wants to dedicate herself to art and find happiness.
It's ironic because no matter how much Seol tells herself there's no use in embracing these parts of herself, she's not any less hurt now than she was before. It's almost like she has to remind herself that all this self-restraint and repression is for the better, that people continue to leave and that the world is still a let-down. But that's what happens when you don't give yourself the opportunity to see it as anything else! That's what happens when you push everyone away and become a self-centered ball of disillusionment and sadness. This is how Seol self-sabotages —everyone leaves her, she tells herself as if she hadn't made the utmost effort not to let anyone close.
Still, the very reason she self-sabotages is because the idealistic Seol, the compassionate Seol, the one with strong feelings and principles is in there somewhere and she's trying to reach out, trying to be happy, trying to move on and find something good in a world like this. Seol is not as good at hiding her as she thinks. And so her intrinsic sadness and longing collide with her hopefulness and her pursuit of happiness, of better things to come. Maybe this can explain what makes Seol so intriguing, so magnetic. A true artist, just like the ones that came before her.
But, mostly, all it does is chip away at her and make life much more hard to get through.
Background: The legend of Jeon Seol
PROLOGUE. The way she sees it, all kids draw. Seol hasn't yet met one who doesn't. Kids are artists.
Seol, in her childhood, draws, too. One of her favorite childhood memories is drawing the landscape in Udo, the island where her grandparents and her uncle live, during the holidays. To Seol, the island feels more like home than Seoul ever has (or ever will).
ONE. Seol reaches the age where some kids stop drawing and all kids draw less. She doesn't. Drawing is her way to expand her inner world and connect with the outside world. It's fun and challenging and it brings the biggest smile to her face when she finally finishes a piece and gets compliments on it. She's the designated artist of her class: all of her silences and reservations disappear when one of her classmates comes up to her and says "Rejeon, can you draw a leaf here?" or "Rejeon, how do you draw a face?".
TWO. She has collections of drawings and paintings that are connected to each other. It begins with a character or a landscape that springs from her mind to the paper faster than she can control. Then, like vines, her ideas climb and grow around her mind and they refuse to let go until they've been developed further. They pile up, forming their own kind of sagas. In Seol's sagas, she can mix drawing and storytelling like in animated movies and cartoons. She doesn't try manhwa because, even though it mixes drawing and storytelling, she's read a couple and it's not for her.
At age ten, Seol reads Maus. It dawns upon her how much impact images truly have and that art can convey extremely important messages, it can tell stories that matter. At age ten, Seol gives graphic novels another chance.
It only takes a few months before she begins creating her own.
THREE. She's supposed to be studying. Instead, Seol is drawing the next chapter of the webtoon she started in the summer. This is the second one she's ever published and the comments are amazing. Positive, encouraging, engaged, the comments are everything her parents are not. She wants to believe they'll come around soon, that things will be better..
It's her first year of high school. Suneung, the college entrance exam, is near. Her life, for the following three years, revolves around cram schools and exams. Forget about art, how dare she have hobbies? Doesn't she want to be successful? To have a good life?
She wants to draw.
She wants to cry.
FOUR. (tw: panic attack) Seol slept two hours last night because she had what's probably the weirdest dream she's had in her life. She remembers the end better than the beginning, which had something to do with saving the world or whatever. In the end, she dreamt she woke up in her favorite beach in Udo. It was extremely realistic: she felt the sand, she heard the waves crashing and she could smell the salt in the air.
What truly is real, however, is that there are three months to go until Suneung. She feels so small: she can't do it. She knows she's gonna do terrible but terrible is not an option, not when she has to get scores that are way out of her league to get into the best art schools (which are the only art schools her family will accept without kicking her out). It doesn't matter where she goes to college as long as she can join the corporate rat race and "have a good future". Her future is everything to them, not the future she longs for but the one they deem appropriate.
She needs to open the window wider, but it won't cooperate. The streets near the cafe she's studying at are too noisy and there's not enough air. It's too much. There's so much work to do and it's pointless and it's difficult and she's alone and she's crying and her heart is beating way too fast. This whole day, from the moment she woke up, she's felt the weight of the world in her shoulders. When will things be better? Numbness spreads across her fingers so quickly she can't even lock herself in this bathroom stall. She doesn't remember walking to the bathroom. Seol feels so much pain in her chest that she feels she's about to die.
That's Seol's first panic attack. In an open bathroom stall. Alone.
FIVE. (tw: panic attack) The chest pain keeps her up at night. One day, her mom walks into her room as she's having a panic attack.
"I can't be here, mom. I can't be here". Tears begin to roll down her face as she thinks of life in the city as she's always known it. She literally disappears from her mom's embrace and returns with sand in her shoes. Maybe she should have listened when they said the world was a terrible place. Her parents are truly scared that some biblical being has taken over her or that she's outright crazy, so they hesitantly agree to let her take a year off or two and spend time in Udo. They send her off right away forgetting all about the exam that, according to them, defines her entire life. A crazy but successful daughter is the same as an unsuccessful one. And she thought they'd get better.
Udo is exactly what she needed, she believes. Seol has always felt at home here and she takes to farming pretty peacefully. In her free time, she focuses on her art and opens an online store. Her drawings and her webtoons become a way for her to cope with the lofty goal of saving the world and the discovery of her powers, which is specifically explored in her newest piece, "The Teleportation Handbook".
But Udo is no better than Seoul, just different, she discovers. It's less busy, less stressful, too, and yet, somehow, even more lonely: that's life in the farm for you. The locals have as many faults as the people in Seoul and they're a whole lot more narrow minded. Her uncle is no different —generally speaking, her uncle is not who Seol thought he was at all. He defends himself for using pesticides in the farm like the businessman Seol would have never thought him to be. He thinks taking the college entrance exam at this point in her life is "too late", a waste of time, and, when her scores arrive, he has nothing good to say about her acceptance into a good art school. In fact, he even tries to dismiss her because she's pursuing art. Of course. She shouldn't have expected anything else.
SIX. Seol doesn't want to return to Seoul, but it's what she has to do if she wants to make a living out of her art. At this point, after maintaining the will to believe in people and in the world for so long only to be continuously disappointed, she won't make that mistake anymore. Art is what keeps her going. All she wants to do is to create daily, to support herself with art.
If that is any indication, Seol doesn't want to fight a war to protect humanity. But Seol is an artist, a storyteller, and in this war she sees a story worth telling. Maybe it'll result in an iconic manhwa that can stand its ground next to V for Vendetta or Maus or Uzumaki, but, seeing how things have worked out for Seol, she just hopes enough people will buy it. Maybe even that hope is pointless.

Relationships
seong JiAE
23  friend  enthusiastic, hard-working, intense, insecure  yerin from gfriend
Jiae was Seol's first internet friend who she met when she started posting her drawings and, eventually, her webtoons. She started out as one of her most respected and popular mutuals, but, by the time Jiae published her first webtoon online, they were already friends.
Jiae's panels are beautiful. If you ask Seol, it even made more sense after she met the older girl in person —have you seen her? She looks like a webtoon character herself. To top it off, her lovely characters match her energetic and sweet attitude. No matter how much her audience has grown lately, no matter the fact that her webtoon is getting a TV adaptation, she remains sweet and supportive to all, something that Seol was very drawn to when they met.
But there's no denying that Jiae has blown up lately. There's no denying that she's busy. There's no room in her schedule for her friendship with Seol anymore and, even if there was, she's so focused and devoted to her current professional projects that she's set her personal relationships aside.
21 (95)  best friend  progressive, direct, purposeful, calm  yuju from gfriend
High school senior Seol unwillingly teleports to Udo quite often. Sometimes, it's not even modern Udo. She realizes this when she meets Cho Seokah, a young girl her age and, from what she can gather, the misfit of the island who lives with her (single) mom and is terribly excited to spot a new face who she can talk to.
Seokah becomes every bit the crazy girl in town once she starts mentioning how she can see this girl from the future. She goes on and on speaking of advanced technology and ideological changes and a certain war of the stars to anyone who will listen and she takes it in stride when people ignore her —Seol asks her if she should introduce herself to the people in Udo, that way they'll know she's not making it up. Seokah refuses her offer: Seol is too special to her to do that. Besides, she's speaking the truth and the only people who need to know that are she and Seol.
She's fascinated by the way things have developed in the future and all she wants is for Seol to take advantage of the opportunities she has and truly live her life without self-repression or fear. She speaks to her in her signature calm tone but with extremely blunt words. In her eyes, no matter how dissatisfied the younger is with the world, Seol's world is such an amazing world to live in compared to hers.
Seokah was born long enough ago to be dead but also recently enough to be old but still be alive. Seol tried to figure out whether she'd been buried in any of the cemeteries in Udo, but that's not the case. She has no idea whether Seokah is dead or alive or where in Korea she's been buried, so she intends to figure that out.

kang bitna
28  friendly  blunt, protective, disobeying, courageous  nana
Seol wishes she knew why Kang Bitna is so nice to her. She's so supportive of her (she reads her webtoons! I repeat, she reads her webtoons! Plural!) and genuinely seems to care about her, even if just a little bit.
Every time Bitna asks for a spoiler, every time she acts like a proud mama towards Seol, she has to wonder when it will end. She's got to know why she's doing all this, she has to figure out the one thing that will make Bitna turn away from her. As for now, she's too good. It's weird.
And, of course, until she figures it out, she's gonna have to keep her distance.

Power.  Quantum teleportation (feat. spatial perception). links here.
Alternate.  Time travel
Description
Printed out and underlined by Jeon Seol.
as a physics major, i have such a soft spot for this webtoon. most readers don't notice how smart rejeon is because they don't know that saetbyeol's teleportation powers are 100% backed by scientific theories.
the only thing that isn't scientifically backed is how she teleports to places that have emotional significance to her (but that was in the beginning when she had 0 control. she can go anywhere on earth now!) or her "sixth sense" that teleports her safely and makes her, like, super aware of spatial distance between objects and stuff.
that aside, when she "disappears" and briefly spends time in a "void", those are the atomic particles in saetbyeol's body disassembling and slipping into the quantum field. she teleports by slipping out of the quantum field and reassembling herself in another place. because subatomic particles can slip beneath reality at a quantum level, they can travel through dimensions, so that's why saetbyeol can teleport through time too. it's so clever.
so why do things explode when she pushes her limits too much? when saetbyeol exhausts her powers, she can't reassemble herself as accurately, so the atoms become ions, which are unstable in their composition and emit radiation. i'm assuming she's very inaccurate and that's why they emit gamma radiation, which is the most powerful one. that's why things explode.
this is what wears saetbyeol out so much. altering nuclear compositions requires a lot of energy, people! i was surprised she just falls asleep, i was expecting her to pass out or something. psychologically, though, rejeon portrays the consequences of time travel so well! saetbyeol has some melancholic undertones, but she really goes full out after travelling to her childhood and stuff. is it wrong if i love to see her suffer?
(ps: rejeon-nim, if you're reading this, i want to see how saetbyeol's powers develop!
1. will she be able to stay (or make objects stay) in the quantum field for longer? because then, she'd be able to disappear from space and time. that'd be so original.
2. i'm impatient, so i want her to travel anywhere in time now too! she's getting close, but i want to see her adventures in ancient history, not just traveling between the years she's been alive for.
3. i need to know if she'll be able to use gamma rays on purpose. like, deliberately teleporting objects the wrong way to make their composition unstable and make them explode. i want to get into nuclear engineering and webtoons like this make my nerdy self so happy!!)

Trivia
— Seol got the idea for the manhwa upon meeting the other stars of earth, but she's always wanted to write about the destiny that was told to her in a dream in senior year of high school. The main characters are obviously based on each one of them, so she's keeping it a secret.
— Her manhwa/webtoons partake in many genres. From slice-of-life to her own version of shoujo to horror (she'd call it horror inspired but the comments don't seem to agree), they all share some sort of reflections on humankind or the world at large and the depth in which she explores the characters (think The Good Place if it was a webtoon, Refund High School, Ghost Teller, etc).
— Seol hasn't had a panic attack in years
— Seol identifies as biual
— Indecisive about publishing her war manhwa as a webtoon or a graphic novel, seeing how manhwas have lost their audience to webtoons in South Korea
— Lives with her parents (Jeon Hoon and Park Maeri). Nightmarish, if you ask her. They barely talk, though, and they're civil.
— Has an impressive manhwa collection (ofc)
— Her online store is called The Rejeon Shop. She sells stickers, enamel pins, mugs, tote bags, etc. of her drawings (and, upon demand, some webtoon merchandise). She opens for a couple of months every trimester because she can't afford the whole year (cost-benefit wise).
— Uses a patreon type of system to make money from her webtoons and she does commissions too
— The protagonist of The Teleportation Handbook is more or less a Seol self-insert called called Saetbyeol.
— Currently doing well in college. Not top of her class or anything, but now that Seol is studying something that she cares about, she can concentrate better when she's studying and get solid grades.
— Draws digitally on a design tablet if she's planning on posting/publishing her work, on paper if she doesn't intend to publish it.
— Likes her food spicy.
— Loves fruit but can't seem to buy it when it's ripe enough. It's always too ripe or not ripe enough.

Questions
How does your character feel about their destiny? "Sometimes I just wonder if we haven't done enough already. The dinosaurs went extinct too, right? So, whether it's now or later, we humans aren't gonna be here forever. We've done our fair share of bad and good, so, if this is our time to go, I suppose I can deal with that.  We've done enough.
But I'm okay being a part of this story as long as I get to tell it —that's something I feel very passionate about. It actually feels more like my destiny."

Do they believe in fighting for the world or against it? "Unfortunately, from the way things are going, our world is fighting against itself. You know what? I was a big believer in fighting for the world... I guess some things don't change."

What price would they be willing to pay to achieve their goals? "Considering the fact that I'm writing a manhwa about everything that's going on behind everyone else's backs, I guess a high one. I don't care if they hate me or if they go out of their way to make things difficult for me —but that would definitely . I'm not going to stop until it gets published."
Note here that while publishing the manhwa is Seol's goal, it's more of a short-term one. On a larger scale, Seol wants to be happy and at peace with herself (the manhwa symbolizes or represents this goal) and she'll paradoxically sacrifice even her inner peace and happiness to achieve it.
Final Thoughts.
Literal word vomit because there isn't a place for it in the og code: alright so i don't know how (or why. or when) but these pics practically inspired the whole character so let me link them in case they do anything for you or just let you get her overall vibe better.
also i didn't add a love int bc the one (1) dynamic i could think of was "seol pushes person away, person is done w her , won't take seol's bull, seol learns something, what ending? ??", and,, like.... we could get that dynamic or an even better one with any of the stars of earth/heaven instead of a chara created by me. so,, uh,, surprise me w seol love int if u have any ideas or if any chara lends themselves to it
also i have no excuse for writing this many words pls forgive me.

Would you be okay with your character dying during the course of the story? lmao end her. if the plot calls for it.
however !! es are gonna need some closure regarding her manhwa situation. by es i mean me. murder her violently if u will but i Need to know which fate her war manhwa meets. is it her biggest webtoon or does it get published as a manhwa? is it iconic? is it a cult classic with a small but committed following? does it blow up but only after she's been dead for years? how does each of the alive stars of earth (and heaven bc they'll be included too) react to it and their portrayal in it?

Questions? on a scale of ten to too ing much how bad do u wanna murder me for writing so much

Password? i love you and anyone applying to this is a Bad

Scene Requests?
1. obligatory plot point in which the stars of the earth find out about seol's manhwa. i wanna see every1 feeling attacked, betrayed, lied to, whatever their angsty hearts can muster. if u wanna be more lighthearted with it, give me obligatory plot point in which every1 has smth to say about how they're portrayed ("i'm not that bossy!" "why did you draw my nose like that?")
2. also less obligatory plot point in which the stars of heaven find out about seol's manhwa and use it as a means to exploit the stars of earth's weaknesses
!! bonus points if this happens after scene req number 1. like, a star of earth, after the whole reveal connundrum, shows the manhwa to the other side so they can get an advantage.
3. if she survives, can i get seol writing about the other stars of earth's life prior to the war and their discovery of their powers as a saga of prequels/spin-offs to her war manhwa? kind of like the avengers' movies before they became avengers + if war manhwa isn't titled war of the stars, we riot
4. peaceful scenes with seokah and seol chilling in 60s udo or whatever (seokah love int? ?? jk
