< hu junwoo >

birthname Hu Junwoo (후준우) [it means handsome rain]

other names

☪ Mikhail Hu; his Russian name with his Korean surname. He puts this name for foreign use because it's shorter and more simple. (meaning of Mikhail will be in stagename)

☪ Mikhail Konstantin Helvenskya; his Russian full name. Because his father is Korean, he adopted his mother's last name instead, hence the feminine form. When someone points that out to him, he merely replies with a "I love my mom.", which usually settles it. If not, Junwoo just either explains or stares at them until they get it. He rarely explains it though lmao.

☪ Михаил Константин Хельвенскийя; the Russian form of his Russian name. Yes it's long, yes it looks like a mouthful and yes Junwoo doesn't use it unless absolutely needs to.

☪ Zechariah/Zhakariya/Захария; his Christian name, it means 'God remembers'

nicknames

☪ Jun; his most-used nickname by friends and family alike.

☪ Mika; short form of his English/Russian name. What his friends call him as well.

☪ дорогая; meaning 'dear' or 'love' in Russian. Used by his mother only.

☪ Mika-hyung; what the younger members call him. They think it's cute and funny. Junwoo rarely goes by his Korean name in front of s, and most of the time anyways because it reminds him too much of his father.

☪ Mr Worldwide; sort of a joke on the meme mainly because of his knowledge of languages.

☪ Genius; it started as a joke because of his background, but then came to stick to him because why not. He's the genius of the group, the most intelligent and the one who makes up all sorts of plans. Call him 'genius' in front of Areum though, and be prepared to be called into her room with a sickly sweet smile on her face.

☪ Prince Charming; no one knew how it started or even came into being. The nickname is terrible and he knows it, and he hates it. He doesn't mind when his fans call him this, or at least tries not to. (He also performed Cinderella when he was in his teens though, someone probably searched it up and stuck it to him)

☪ Stalker; again, it was one of the nicknames that started as a joke and somehow manifested itself into the truth. Because Junwoo knows so much about everything and everyone, s start calling him a stalker. It's usually done in goodwill, but sometimes he recieves a sort of bitterness and hatred behind it, and so shuts his mouth altogether.

☪ Mule; mainly because he resembles one so much. He's as stubborn as a mule, and has as much patience as one as well.

☪ Луна; pronounced as 'luna' and means 'moon'. It's his mother's special nickname for him, mainly because of the circumstances of his birth. He allows no one else to use it, and not even calling him 'luna'.

birthdate November 11 1995

age 21

birthplace Saint-Petersburg, Russia

hometown Moscow, Russia / Busan, South Korea (he doesn't like to admit that Busan is his hometown, but when asked or pestered, he would say it. He proudly wrote Moscow in his official profile, and it was the only historical moment Areum relented)

ethnicity 1/2 Russian, 1/2 Korean (if it's too much I'll change it - )

nationality Russian and Korean

languages

☪ Russian; his mother is Russian, so yes, he can speak Russian. Fluent.

☪ Korean; before his father disappeared, he spoke Korean at home.

☪ English; he lived in Canada for quite a few years in his childhood. Fluent.

☪ French; he took it as a subject at school, and also to learn the ballet techniques at the school and academy. Junwoo stopped after he finished his exams though, because he's at it. (or so he thinks) Still, he can communicate pretty well. 7/10

☪ Japanese; one of the languages he decided to pick up at the agency. The trainees were offered a choice, he decided to try Japanese. Beginner af; 2/10.

faceclaim Kyungil (ex ex-History)

backup Jaeho (ex ex-History)

height 180 cm

weight 69 kg

appearance Junwoo is one of the taller members in his group, and he like to stand next to Sungwoo sometimes because he claims it's funny (he calls Sungwoo a hobbit fyi). He has a sharp face structure, perhaps because of his Russian heritage. Who knows. In fact, most of his body is sharp edges; his elbows are sharp, his shoulders are sharp, even his eyes are sharp.

Because of his dancing background, Junwoo is also pretty muscular. While he looks slender and lean with his clothes on, with his clothes off he's pretty much a chiseled god (or so the fangirls say).

Junwoo's eyes are his most striking point (aside from his abs and yes he has 'em). Normally, they're sharp and alert, because of Areum and all the crap he has to face. He's constantly thinking and plotting, and thus the alertness. However, when he's relaxed (which is rare) or meeting with fans or on camera, he lets his eyes relax and makes them as friendly as possible. Unless, of course, they are outlined with sharp black eyeliner, then they take a hundred and eighty degree change and become seductive and charismatic.

fashion style Junwoo doesn't wear many clothes. And by not many I mean that he tends to have to rip them off on stage or something because abs. (okay no this is a failed attempt at humour - )

Right. So back on track. Junwoo likes wearing clothes that are comfortable, such as white shirts or wifebeaters and track pants. Come to think of it, that's really just his normal attire whenever he goes somewhere. It's also his training attire, but he swaps the track pants for shorts or something shorter when he's dancing. When he was training for ballet, he wears a grey form-fitting shirt, black tights and of course, his ballet shoes.

But because Junwoo is an idol, he has to dress up for the cameras and take fashion advice from either Sungwon (if he's a fashionista idk) or Yeonghwa, who claims him as 'helpless'. He wears jeans, (form-fitting ones because who wouldn't with a body like his - ) with a plain shirt or maybe one with dark colours. For his jackets, it's either plaid or denim. No leather unless it's on stage, but he secretly wants to try wearing it outside as part of his normal attire. For his shoes, it's either Converse or trainers.

< NOW PLAYING: hanshanke (Xigua jun) >

personality traits

☪ Positive: Intelligent, observant, patient, loyal, charming, wise, open, polite
☪ Neutral: Independent, distant, persuasive

☪ Negative: Distrustful, nitpicky, lack of empathy, semsitive, stubborn, secretive, manipulative, possessive, ruthless

☪ Others: Bears grudges till the end of time

personality First things first, Junwoo is intelligent. He wouldn't be in the Lotto plotline if not lmao. Anyways, Junwoo is intelligent, and he knows it. Before, he uses his brains for studies and stuff, and maybe the occassional prank, but now, he realises the work he put in reading military strategy books are paying off and uses them to his advantage. He's also the one who tells the others what to do, and what they shouldn't do, and analyzes every ing thing down to what kind of coffee Areum took this morning and how they should approach her or behave. Junwoo is a born strategist, and he tries to keep the boys out of danger with his advice, but some of them (i.e. the hot-tempered ones) don't listen because they think him arrogant. He isn't though, and only means the best. Except he sometimes gets shut down too much or too harsly, and thus mostly keeps to himself.

Junwoo is, as mentioned above, observant, and there is usually nothing that doesn't escape his eye. Sungwoo has his eyes on their father-figure member? He knows but says nothing. Areum is about to drag another member to her room and does god-knows-what to him? He notices that too and says nothing. Basically, Junwoo keeps a lot of what he sees to himself, and for good reason. He doesn't want others, especially not Areum, to know what he's and they're up to. Sometimes he keeps the information he processes to himself, but when it's helpful to another member or for their own good, he'll tell them, and you can count on him to do it. The only problem being how much he tells you, because Junwoo is very secretive in nature.

"There, to your left. No, don't look. Areum's there, and she's staring at you. Be prepared."

Junwoo is sort of an advisor to the group. While he's not like Sungwoo or [roar plotline], the parents, he tends to stay in the background and observe and plot stuff. He's like the oldest and caring brother, who helps the parents and protects the siblings. And so he gives advice which reflects his wise nature. Most of the time, s are fine with it, but once tempers start to flare, they tend to get annoyed with him. Junwoo understands, and says nothing about it either. Again, he does his best to keep s out of danger, and warns them as best as he could.

Junwoo is patient. He knows when to wait, and when to attack. He doesn't mind waiting for the right moment, and knows that he should in order to strike at the most vulnerable and best point of Areum, which can bring everything down on her. Because of his patience, he also helps calm tempers around the dorm, and dodges any slippers that Sungwoo may throw (because he's the mom get it - now I'm being racist to my own race lmao) instead of lobing them straight back.

"Wait, no - don't do that. You'll get yourself killed. Really."

Because Junwoo lost his father from a young age - not in the physical sense, more to be elaborated in relations section - he learnt to take care of himself and his mother from a young age. His other siblings were taken away, so it was just him and his mom. He became very independent, as well as loves his mom fiercely. He's usually patient and rarely gets into a temper, but if anyone says a harmful word to or about his mother, speak ill of her or even mention her in a less-than-friendly way, Junwoo will and is going to kick your . No questions and no exceptions. Not even Areum herself.

Before you give me about his contrasting traits of being 'open' and 'distant' and 'secretive', let me explain. Junwoo is open. No, really. He gives information about himself, useless bits of trivia such as his favourite colour or what kind of toast he had for breakfast, but nothing beyond that. He doesn't form friendships easily, and doesn't trust anyone much either. He gives so much information about himself because he likes to distract people from the fact that they know nothing about him. He tells people about the facts he wants people to only know about and what they should and need to know, and that's it. He keeps everything else to himself, maybe an occassional slip of a word or two to those he trusts absolutely, but that's it.

"Hello I'm Mikhail and I love blue. My birthday is on the 11th November and I'm twenty-one."

Despite the fact that he's distrustful and hardly forms friendships or bonds, Junwoo is fiercely loyal to those he manages to do so with. He will protect them till the end of time and is even willing to die for them. Because Junwoo treasures friendship so much, he rarely is the one who breaks off friendships first, and when it is done to him, shuts himself up and tries not to let people notice his breaking heart. He is sensitive to friendships, and usually takes care to not name anyone his friend until they prove themselves worthy of doing so.

Junwoo is charming and the worst (or best, depends on how you see it) part is he doesn't even need to try. Somehow, he knows the best ways to say words or phrases that will send the fangirls' hearts into overdrive and them to swoon. People joke that he's like Prince Charming because of this, but he secretly hates the nickname. It also didn't help that he actually did the role of Prince Charming in a ballet before, so yes, he despises the nickname and is not afraid to call someone out for using it unless it's by fans.

"I'll die for you. If I can't or you don't allow it, I'll live for you."

Junwoo is also a persuasive er. Again, like his charm, he doesn't need to learn the trade or practise it. He is a natural in his persuading skills, and because people usually (or sometimes, depending on the person) listen to his advice, Junwoo is able to persuade s to either not do something, or do something, like practising their dance when they don't really want to. He doesn't shout or sass or do it in a round-about way like Sungwon (I nearly misspelt it as Sungwoo and probably did it before, just call me out on it and I'll fix it) maybe does, he simply asks in his soft-spoken and gentle manner and somehow, they will do it. (it's only his positive traits and I've literally written 1100 words lmao - I'm pulling a Jineul)

"It'll just be for another five minutes. Then it'll finish, I promise."

I've mentioned before that Junwoo is distrustful, and boy, is he distrusful. He rarely and barely form friendships and relationships with people, and only does it when he's confident he could trust them fully. It isn't about them, it's him; he's insecure about his secrets, and an incident about someone telling something to another person that he had trusted them to keep secret caused him to shut himself up and not place faith or trust on another person only when they've proven that they're worthy of it. It all depends on his opinion, and his alone, whether that person is trustworthy or not, and nothing can change his mind.

Junwoo also has a lot of secrets. He doesn't tell anyone everything, except maybe for his mother, and doesn't see the need to. He keeps his secrets to himself, and maybe distribute a few here or there to a trustworthy person, or scatters one or two to people just so they think they know him, when they really don't. He also keeps secrets that others tell him, and guard them fiercely.

"I have a lot of secrets. And I'll tell you one since you seem so desperate to know them. The secret is that I have a lot of secrets."

Junwoo nitpicks. A lot. He's fussy about anything he puts his heart to, and demands utmost attention to detail. The reason he does this is because he puts in a lot of effort to anything he does seriously, and expects anyone who does it to have his own passion for it as well. And so he's extremely strict on the others, especially himself, on dancing, if he could be. He's also very nitpicky about the dorm's cleaniness, because he's used to cleaning his house for his mother, and he nags. When he nags, everyone either listens to him or just leaves the room.

Despite his abundance of advice and wisdom, Junwoo is really a person devoid of empathy. It's not that he doesn't care, it's that he couldn't. And not because he's cold-hearted either, he's born with it and he feels really sorry about it, but what could he do? When tears or fustration appears, Junwoo retreats and hides himself until it's all over before emerging.

While he's not empathatic, somehow he's very sensitive. He's very conscious of his own emotions, and hides them as best as he could. He's sensitive to change, to what others say to him, and what others say about him. Junwoo doesn't give signs that he notices or knows though, and keeps his face as blank as possible. However, he does hide and lets the tears out when he knows, or at least thinks no one is looking, but he doesn't need empathy or sympathy from the others. He'll deal with his emotions by his own, and has done it for so many times he's accustomed to it anyways.

"What are you talking about? I'm not upset. Now go and clean up the mess you just left lying on the sofa, it's an eyesore."

Junwoo is stubborn. While he may not look like it, he's as stubborn as a mule, and will stare you down like one as well. He usually doesn't show his stubborn side, but when he is serious about something, he could not and would not and never would budge. He won't argue with you; he'll just intimidate you with his stare until you budge or something. The only person he couldn't do this with is Sungwon, somehow. And when they fight, it's extremely unpleasant, but luckily they never really do it, so it's fine. Most of the time.

Because of his stubbornness, Junwoo is ruthless as well. Well, ruthless in the sense that he would do anything and everything to acheive his goals when needed. When he sets his mind on something, and places his sights on it, he will obtain it against all odds and will be extremely stubborn on it. Unless of course, his mother disagrees, or other things happen involving his loyalty, beliefs or the rare things that's important to him.

"I'll topple her throne, I swear it. And the day I do it will be the day of victory for all of us."

Junwoo is manipulative. Well, not in the way you thought he would be, but there's no way to put it in a nicer way (at least, not any I can think of now), so there you go. He controls the thoughts of others, or at least attempts to, by feeding information that he allows or needs them to know. It's like him being secretive, he manipulates others into believing they know him by telling them what he allows or wants them to know. By withholding or giving information, Junwoo is able to control others' thoughts and feelings. ...I guess? Like a lot of things, this process is also unconscious to him.

Finally, Junwoo is possessive. He's possessive of people he like and love, and once he makes you his friend, he will never let you go. While he doesn't say anything, you could feel him staring daggers when that friend starts to pay attention to something else while he's talking to them. 'You're talking to me, I'll give you all of my attention, and I expect you to do the same otherwise you' sort of attitude. And he's even more possessive when it comes to his boyfriend. He will allow no one to touch him, not even his teammates. Unless, of course, the boyfriend asks or allows it. Then he grudgingly lets him.

"You're mine. You're mine and no one else's. I will follow you to the depths of hell, to the highest point of heaven. To the end of time, to the beginning of everything."

background Junwoo was born to a Russian woman and a Korean man in the freezing winter of Saint-Petersburg, on a cold moonlit night. His Korean name didn't get decided until the next day, when it was raining, but his mother had already decided his Russian/English name, and when it was revealed it was a boy (she deicded to have the gender of the child kept a secret) she just used the male form of the name. And so Mikhail came into existence.

Junwoo spent most of his childhood in Russia, up until the age of eight. In Russia, he got a lot of scathing words and even more strange looks because of his Southeast Asian looks. As a result, he got bullied at school, and the worst part is, the teachers didn't stop it. Thus, Junwoo began to develop his quiet and secretive nature, as well as his dependence on his mother.

It was also during this time that he started ballet. His mother, being a retired principal dancer, prima ballerina of the world-known Bolshoi Theatre, had encouraged him on this path, and he had enthusiastically agreed as well. While he didn't attend classes at the academy attached to the Bolshoi Theatre, Junwoo took classes at the Vaganova Academy, where his mother had connections to.

He loved the Academy and all that it has to offer, he loved the dance, he loved everything. Ballet was a solution for everything; whenever he felt upset or down, or insecure, he practises. And practises. And practises. And so it happened that he progressed further than anyone else in his age group, and started training with the older students, who loved to look after this little boy prancing around seriously with a deep passion.

Unfortunately, the winter he turned eight, a tragedy happened. Anastasia, his mother, found out that her husband had an affair. It also didn't help that his father had a drinking problem, and takes it out on both him and his mother. Anastasia, being a woman of strong will, had endured it. However, the affair was the last straw, and she made it well-known by throwing a fit and packing her bags, taking Junwoo, and sailing out of the house before heading straight to the Bolshoi Theatre, which is near her mother's house as well. Yes, she took her child and her belongings on a four-hour train ride back home. If it's not strong will, I don't know what it is.

Back home, Anastasia allows her son to go to ballet class as normal, and at the Bolshoi Academy as well, her alma mater. She consulted with her own mother, and agreed that Russia was not a place for her son to live in, not with the chaos at the theatres and rising political tension. She didn't want to go to the United States, not with what she had been through and heard about the Cold War, but she didn't had a choice. Besides, the Helvenskya had family there, so Anastasia was reassured, but only somewhat.

It was finally at the age of nine of her son that Anastasia made the firm choice to move to Canada. (She hated the idea of going to the US) It was rather difficult for Anastasia, even with family, especially when she doesn't speak English. Junwoo was fine however, he was young and he adapts to his surroundings extremely easily.

Junwoo started going to school in Canada. At first, it was very difficult, since the languages he knows are Russian and Korean, but slowly, with kindness from his Canadian classmates surrounding him, he became happy, more happy than he could ever be in Russia, despite the lack of ballet. Anastasia, seeing her son lacking a little something in his life, enrolled him into children classes at the Canada's National Ballet School. She also became a teacher there, with the teachers and professors excited and enthusiastic to have a ballerina of her caliber at their school as advisor and teacher.

At the age of twelve, Junwoo also began to pick up modern dance. With this addition, he also tried out theatre classes at school, and proved to be an extremely talented student. He won many competitions, and became the pride of both his school and the Ballet School. And of course, of his mother as well. Everyone expected him to take the stage after his mother once he's a teen and his feet properly grown and developed. Heck, even he did.

Timeskip to the age of sixteen. Junwoo was making even greater progress into his ballet career, and had performed various pieces and on fast-track to a scholarship to the Canada's National Ballet School. It was around this time that he discovers his uality, and also had his first relationship. It didn't work out well, but then again he hadn't really expected anything since it was a first time anyways.

Unfortunately, Junwoo didn't expect the heartbreak that was about to come. Consumed with feelings for his lost love, Junwoo experienced violent mood swings and confused heartsickness that eventually went on to make his grades and ballet spiral downhill. He couldn't study, he couldn't dance, and not even ballet could lift his spirits. His mother tried comforting him, but instead, it only made him feel shame, and he hid himself away.

Which was what he would have loved to do, but could not. There was a series of shows coming up, which was his biggest so far and Junwoo was dancing the roles of the male lead in a few pieces; 'Don Quixote' and "Swan Lake'. The promise of a scholarship was also on line; Canada's National Ballet School promised him an unconditional one after the show and if it recieves success. Thus he threw himself into a frenzy practising for them, and thought himself to be fine. Don Quixote proved to be an enormous success, with the newspapers about the 'young ballet prodigy following his mother's footsteps'. The School gave him his scholarship as well, with the headmaster himself giving the phone call.

Then the catastrophe happened. Perhaps it was because he didn't warm up properly, perhaps it was because of the mixed excitement and sadness he was experiencing. Junwoo, while dancing 'Swan Lake', made a bad landing and broke his ankle. On stage. He could feel the pain surging up his leg, but luckily it was the last scene and he could finish it.

He was immediately rushed to the hospital, not even bothering to make an appearance at the aftermath party, where he was the star. The doctor told him to rest the ankle, and if he doesn't, his dancing career may be ended forever. Junwoo was shocked into silence, Anastasia demanded a scan and recieved news even more terrible; the injury extended to his knee, and a ligament was nearly torn. Junwoo would have to recieve surgery for it which would either render his leg completely useless or save it, or wait it out and recieve treatment for eight months.

Anastasia insisted on treatment and therapy for eight months. It's an injury and not life-threatening, she argued, and her son shouldn't have to risk his entire leg, his career, in it. Junwoo agreed, but the thought of not being able to stand on stage for eight months, a place practically his second home, was so devastating to him he wept for an entire day and shut himself in his room. Not even his mother could comfort or lift his sorrows.

Junwoo, having his heart entirely broken in Canada, resolved to leave the place as quick as possible, and his mind is set on it. The Canada's National Ballet School had an exchanging program to Korea, and the headmaster, knowing his grief, offered to send him there so he could have a change of mind. Anastasia went along as well, but ultimately as a mentor and teacher.

Junwoo knew that his mother put on a brave face, but she was secretly terrified because her former husband was living in Korea. She wanted no more contact with him, and even had to restrain her son from seeking out his father and giving him a piece of his mind for leaving his mother. Ultimately, Junwoo had inherited his mother's iron will, and did what he went to do.

Junwoo ended up staying in Korea. He reconciled with his grandmother, another fierce woman who had kicked her son out when she heard of the affair, and personally flew to Russia to apologize and comfort the young woman. He also ended up meeting his half-sister, who didn't knew of him and the affair until his arrival. They immediately developed a sister-brother relationship, and she brought him out to all sorts of things, and basically introduced him to Korean culture

At the age of seventeen, Junwoo had to decide on college, and he enrolled at the language arts department in the Seoul National College, but later changed to a literature major. He also started taking dance classes again seven months after his ankle had healed, after his grandmother's family doctor declared him fit for such activity. Junwoo had planned on finishing college, balancing modern dance and maybe ballet, before heading back to Canada, taking his mother and bringing them to either London or back to Russia, the ballet centres of the world.

During a performance at his university, Junwoo had caught the eye of a scout from JYP, who offered to sign him to the agency. He hesitated for a long time before agreeing, but eventually did so because why not try new things? It could be another step towards a dancing career, and he's all down for that. He had also taken theatre classes before, where he did musicals stuff. So yes, he's all down for that.

Somehow, his training period extended to a year, then two, and eventually three. He was a rising rookie in the industry; everyone loved his dancing skills. He also started posting covers, after realising he had a knack for both singing and rapping. Junwoo's aspirations still floated towards a dancing career, but since an idol's career is even short-lived than a dancer's, he'll do both and maybe acting afterwards - yes, this boy is very ambitious.

And that was when Lee Areum appeared and disrupted all of his plans.

likes

☪ Ballet. It is literally his lifeline and all he lives for. Without ballet, he will die, and he makes it clear. Ballet saved him from the darkest points of his life, and allowed him to shine his brightest. Unfortunately, it also caused him trauma, and he's still recovering from it. Someday, however, he will stand on that stage again, and make his mother and himself, and the whole word proud.

☪ Beef stroganoff; his mother loves making the dish and Junwoo grew up eating it. It represents his childhood, and better times. Most of all, it reminds him of his mother.

☪ Books. He decided to switch to being a literature major, what else would he love? When he was on hiatus from the stage, he turned to reading. Here's a list of his favourite books:

☪ Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky
☪ The Man in the Iron Mask by Alexandre Dumas
☪ Norweigian Wood by Murakami Haruki
☪ Art of War by Sun Tzu
☪ On War by Carl von Clausewitz
    ☪ The Odyssey by Homer
    ☪ The Iliad by Homer

    ☪ tbc

☪ Winter; it's the season of his birth but he also loves it because it's so bitter yet welcoming to him. Lord knows why

☪ The Moon; tied to his name and his birth. So yes.

☪ Rain; again, linked to his name. It's also very calming to watch rain fall.

☪ Classical music. He knows a lot because of his ballet education, and especially admires Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky's works. 'Swan Lake' was written by Tchaikovsky, and 'Cinderella', which he performed, was written by Prokofiev. What a conicdence.

☪ VIXX; literally one of the few groups he had listened to. Junwoo admires them, mostly because of their variety of concepts tackled. He especially wants to stand on the same stage with either Jaehwan (Ken) or Hakyeon (N) and collab with them or something.

☪ His favourite colour is varying shades of blue. As you can see from the app which reflects his taste in colour.

☪ Cats; he has a thing for Russian or Persian cats and has a pet at home which would eventually be brought to the MIDN9TE dorm and unleash chaos everywhere.

☪ tbc

dislikes

☪ Coffee; it gives him the jitters and he hates starting the day with caffeine. He doesn't drink coffee, not even if it's brewed by his mother. Yeap.

☪ Anyone talking ill of his mother; Junwoo is protective as about his mom, and anyone even saying a bad word would be shut down immediately. No excuses.

☪ Liars. Lie once, and break his trust in you forever.

☪ Maple syrup; he just hates how sweet it tastes like. Goodness knows why

☪ Uncleanliness; he shares this with Sungwon which is terrifying to have two clean-freaks in the same dorm with literally seven other boys.

☪ He detests it when people interrupt him. No, really. When he's talking to someone (one-on-one), he expects that person's attention on him, and on him only. It's only fair when you do the same, right? So when the other person responds to another person when they suddenly into the conversation and literally just starts chatting away, Junwoo sits there fuming and glares and fums until the person he was having a conversation with turns it back to him - or just walks away.

habits

☪ Narrowing his eyes and pursing his lips at the sight of Areum. Observing mode and scrutinizing mode on.

☪ He speaks Korean normally (or as normal as a person could) but then the tone sometimes translates to his other languages and he would be speaking English in a very animated tone with a deadpan face

☪ He deadpans. A lot. Otherwise his face just remains blank

☪ Switching to languages, especially when he swears. The look of confusion on his teammates' looks would alert him to this fact, though.

☪ Putting on his headphones to avoid conversation in the car. He's tired, and boy needs his rest.

☪ Whenever the boys are in a session with Yeonjin, he tries to pick pieces of either his modern dance or ballet back. He and Yeonjin sort of understands each other without actually communicating, so it's fine.

☪ Just casually standing next to Sungwon to piss him off because of the height difference.

☪ Praying before sleep every night. Junwoo is a devout Christian; he also has a lot of things in his mind that he couldn't confine to anyone except God

☪ Changing or applying the bandages to his feet/legs. Junwoo's ankle might have healed for good, but he doesn't want to risk anything, and sometimes still apply the medicine prescribed to him for his injuries, before wrapping it with his bandages to make sure he stays on his feet the whole time. It hurts, but thus is the life of a dancer. He normally tries not to use them though, because they're very harmful and doesn't really do him that much good. (idk if this is accurate? I'm not a dancer so yeap)

☪ Taking care of his or s' wounds inflicted by either Sangho or Saehwa just before bed

hobbies

☪ Ballet, of course.

☪ Reading, self-explanatory

☪ Plotting either world-domination or revenge against Areum. Jk about the first one, but the second is actually what he does most of his free time

☪ Listening to music; nothing is better than plugging his earphones in and blasting Tchaikovsky after a long day

☪ Modern dance, maybe

☪ tbc

fears

☪ One of his greatest fears had already came into existence, so Junwoo regards himself as somewhat of a fearless man. That being said, he is still afraid of injuring a body part that would render him completely unable to contniue the dance career he still has in mind. Luck had saved him once, it wouldn't again.

☪ Betrayal. While he puts up a brave face, Junwoo is constantly afraid of being betrayed and hence his distrust to everyone around him

☪ Exposure. Being exposed isn't something he's fond of either. Junwoo chooses his friends for a reason, and that's not for them to expose his secrets and personality to the world. He'll do that himself, thank you very much. Being such a secretive person, he panicks every time one of his secrets are let loose in the world

☪ Losing his loved ones, especially his mother. His family had helped him grow so much that losing even one of them would drive him crazy with grief

☪ The water. He nearly drowned when he was seven, in Russia, while skating. He never does it again.

☪ Ballet. Currently, he is much much better than he originally was, and is potentially cured by his own will. However, Junwoo went through a period where he had locked up his ballet shoes and broke into cold sweat when he even sees them, because of his trauma onstage. Now, he is easing himself back by practicing steps in front of Yeonjin, who may or may not be plotting ballet steps into MIDN9TE's next choreo.

special talents

☪ Ballet, ballet, ballet. What more can be said?

☪ Acting. He had taken up training in stage plays as well as musicals when he was little

☪ Languages; it's his strong forte

☪ He can recite The Iliad, from back to front. Believe me, it's very impressive but somewhat completely useless. Unless you're a literature student/classics major

☪ Flexibility. He warms up by putting his foot against the wall and just stands there while running the steps over in his head

☪ He once made someone cry with his dancing. Yes, I'm not even joking, he gets extremely in-character and emotional when he's onstage.

trivia

☪ One of his role models is D'Artagnan from The Three Musketeers (I'm sorry I'm drowning in the series right now), and he aspires to be a man like him.

☪ Went through a phase where 'All for one, one for all' is his motto. He stopped that now

☪ He's a Christian; he was baptised from birth. His Christian name is Zechariah, or Zhakariya, as it's pronounced in Russian. His mother practises Christianity as well.

☪ He wants to visit Italy or France someday

☪ Aspires to have an acting career

☪ He's biual, but leaning towards men. Junwoo hides this from his mother though, who is very conservative and a traditional woman who wants her son to settle down and have a family of his own (with a woman).

☪ Allergic to dust and pollen. Poor boy has hay fever and takes medications for it.

☪ Has high alcohol tolerance, especially towards vodka. Maybe it's because of his Russian lineage, who knows.

☪ When he gets agitated/on rare occasions, drunk, his Korean becomes Russian-accented

Junwoo says / does

☪ *Stares at someone silently to judge/observe them*
☪ "Let me give you some advice. Don't."

☪ "If you're going to start something, do it and half- it at the end, don't even bother starting to do it. You'll save some respect for both yourself and whoever had been along with you."

- The Family

♠The Mother : Anastasia Svetlana Helvenskya (Анастасия Светлана Хельвенскийя) ♠ 54 ♠ Strong-willed, stubborn, strict ♠ Ballet shoes, red roses, pearls ♠ 1000/10   ♠   fc: Zenaida Yanowsky (She's a ballerina so there might not be as many pics of her as you would like...? She's pretty famous though)  ♠  Picture of her onstage

♠  Anastasia is Junwoo's mother, whom I've kept mentioning over and over again. Yep, she's the famous prima ballerina of Russia who nearly took the name of prima ballerina assoluta (the best ballerina of a particular age), but retires just before she could, at the age of 40 (when the tragedy happened and she discovers her husband's affair) to take care of her young son. She is an incredibly strong-willed woman and lets nothing stand in her way, not even an affair. Anastasia is one of the women that Junwoo looks up to and respects, because she raised him single-handedly throughout his childhood, and encouraged his dancing. She was there for him all the time, and never let him down or let him drown in his sorrows. Junwoo loves his mother fiercely and protects her constantly, even though she's not there. He doesn't allow anyone to speak ill of his mother, unless it's reasonable. Now, Anastasia lives in Canada and is still teaching ballet to aspiring young dancers preparing to take over the world. She has yet to meet one that's as good as her son, and is proud of this fact. ♠

♢ The Sister : Hu Kyuhwan [후규환] /Hu Guiwan (胡珪紈) [It means jade white silk] ♢ 17 ♢ Sweet, sharp-tongued, smart ♢ Iced latte, whipped cream, dance shoes ♢ 9/10 ♢ fc: Chengxiao ♢ pic of her talking with her half-brother in the weekend or something

♢ If you do the math correctly, you would realise that Kyuhwan is four years younger than Junwoo, which means that his weasel of a father had already cheated on his mother when he was four. She was the offspring of their father and a Chinese woman, who passed away when she was ten due to health complications. Her father then brought her back to Korea, where she lived with her grandmother, the fierce woman who had already kicked her son out once for cheating on Anastasia. Ever since she was little, she had been brought up by her grandmother and rarely ever sees her father. She has no knowledge of Junwoo either, as her grandmother see no reason to tell her about him. It was only until he arrived at the age of seventeen that she knew she has an older brother, which was like a dream for her. Kyuhwan, like girls of that age (i.e. thirteen), was really into kpop, and introduced him to a lot of Korean culture and pop culture on the whole. She's ultimately the one who inspired him to become an idol, and to seriously pursue such a career. Kyuhwan is now seventeen, and wants to follow in her brother's footsteps and join JYP. Junwoo prays for her safety, but then JYP is relatively safe most of the time, so she'll be fine. ♢

✖ The Father/The Weasel : Hu Jisung [후지성]  ✖  52 ✖  abusive, charming, fickle ✖  Alcohol, bad tempers, broken glass ✖  1/10 ✖  fc: Kwon Sangwoo ✖ pic of him as the playboy he is

✖ We're finally at the bastard father yay. Jisung is a former dancer like Anastasia was, that was really how they met, but unfotunately, Jisung had an accident on stage like his son that completely destroyed his career. (Somehow, Junwoo had strived not to be like his father but they ended up having similar injuries oof - ) Anyways, Jisung made a faulty landing, and tore his knee ligament, and he still has trouble walking today. That was at the age of thirty-two, and thank god he was near retirement, because otherwise, given his bitter nature, he would have done worse. At that time, he and Anastasia were already married, and Junwoo was one. Jisung started to turn to alcohol, which made him lash out at his wife and child. He became violent and abusive under its influence, and constantly in alcohol-induced fury. However, Anastasia didn't divorce him straight off the bat because of Junwoo, as well as because Jisung is a charming er and sends all sorts of flowers and gifts to make her feel better when he's sober. Two years later, his bitterness drove him to seek the company of other women, a Chinese dancer who he was good friends with before his downfall from grace. (He was a pretty well-known dancer as well, that's why he had the chance to even meet Anastasia lmao). The affair was kept secret, and since the Chinese woman thought he'd divorced Anastasia already, the two had Kyuhwan. It wasn't until Junwoo was eight that Anastasia found out, however, and immediately stormed out. This time, no amount of flowers or pearls would have won her back, and he knew it. Jisung then promptly divorced his wife, and went back to Korea, where he recieved a royal putting-down from his own mother, who kicked him out as well. He was mostly there for Kyuhwan's childhood, but after her mother died, he disappeared to god-knows-where again. Kyuhwan only thought that her father is busy at work, but after finding out that dirty bit of faimily history, she grew angry at him and gave him a scolding too, after Junwoo dished out his own share of words and maybe threatening with fists (the first and last time in his life). ✖

❤ The Grandmother : Lee Hayun [이하윤]  ❤ 72 ❤ stern, caring, friendly ❤ Hanbok, knitting needles, tea ❤ 9/10

❤ Junwoo and Kyuhwan's grandmother, she readily accepted and welcomed Junwoo into the family after he went to her in Korea. Hayun is a sweet old woman, short but packed full of fire, even more so since her husband had passed away. She takes good care of her grandchildren, offspring of her weasel son whom she'd disinherited after she found out he cheated on Anastasia, whom she adores. Hayun also made a trip to Russia just to check out on Anastasia and see how she's faring and apologize on her bastard son's behalf, just so to make sure that her daughter-in-law is fine, but also to make it clear that Jisung was no son of hers. Hayun has an iron-will, and takes no nonsense, but has a heart of gold and loves both her children and grandchilren fiercely. She knows everything even without them being said, and has noticed Junwoo's grief and heartbreak that Kyuhwan was too young to understand at the time, when he first went to Korea. She also noticed his dark circles and angry flash in his eyes that he sometimes forgets to hide when he goes back home on the rare occassions he could, but said nothing and secretly offers to kick whomever's that she needs to. Hayun is the sort of cool grandmother you would get along with readily, and she will probably live to be a hundred and ten through sheer power of will. ❤

❥ The Grandmother : Svetlana Ekaterina Helvenskya ❥ 74 ❥ distant, caring, stubborn ❥ Scarves, hot chocolate, cakes ❥ 7/10

❥ Junwoo's maternal grandmother, he didn't really know her that well since she passed away when he was 14, in Canada. He did, however, remember childhoods of visiting Moscow in summers and Christmases, with grandma cooking all sorts of delicious food and making hot chocolate for him. Svetlana took care of her daughter when she went to Moscow in the dead of night after her husband's affair was found out, and Svetlana made sure to keep young Mikhail out of it. She also took care of Mikhail a lot when Anastasia went back to the Theatre as a consultant and advisor to young ballerinas, after she had divorced Jisung. Junwoo remembers her as a sweet old woman who always makes sure he was warm and well-fed. ❥

- The Friends
(I'm going to use 'Mikhail' when refering to his Russian friends and 'Junwoo' for others)

❀ The Childhood Friend : Tatiana Doroteya Vasilievzima ❀ 21 ❀ smart, caring, headstrong ❀ Heels, silk, coffee ❀ 8/10 ❀ fc: Sasha Luss ❀ pic of her backstage preparing for stage

❀ Mikhail's childhood friend when he was living in Russia. She was the daughter of Anastasia's best friend, also a ballerina. Therefore, since a very young age, the two were raised and attended ballet classes together, being groomed for a professional career. Like Mikhail, Tatiana loved ballet with all her heart as well. At school, she helped defend Mikhail from his bullies, and scared them away with her fierceness. When she heard from her mother that Mikhail is leaving for Canada, she was shocked and became very upset, demanding answers that he had no way of knowing. She sulked for a few days, but eventually accompanied her mother to the airport to send them off, and gave Mikhail a kiss on his cheek. The two managed to keep correspondance with letters, then eventually emails, and finally through text, so they weren't strangers the next time they meet. When Tatiana heard that Mikhail broke his ankle and went to Korea, she hopped on the next flight to South Korea immediately and went to see him, comforting him that 'not all is over'. She visits him often now, as much as she could. Tatiana is now a principal at Bolshoi Theatre, following her mother's footsteps, and working her way up to a prima ballerina. Once, when she went to visit, Areum spotted her and tried to scout her, only to recieve a touch of that fiery Russian temper in return. ❀

♫ The Former Love : Henry Lau ♫ 23 ♫ caring, talented, wise ♫ Violins, music, late nights ♫ 7/10 ♫ Well he's Henry

♫ (Just pretend this timeline and places make sense because I won't bother tryiing to) The two met in high school, when Junwoo was in ballet practice at the National Canada's Ballet School. His usual violinist was sick, and since Henry was a very talented violinist already, and he needed experience for his schoolwork in university (Junwoo was sixteen, Henry was eighteen). The rehearsal was for a production of 'Swan Lake', and Junwoo was practicing his solo parts as his partner was somehow sick as well. It was at this time that Junwoo found out his ual inclination, and was somewhat awkward around boys. Somehow, without prior practice or discussion - Just a 'okay then let's try running the whole thing over once' - they managed to do the whole thing perfectly from the first try, marvelling even the ballet master supervising Junwoo's practice. Since the guy is busy, the ballet master just left the two to their own devices, and Henry found himself loving the young ballet prodigy in front of him, with all his grace and delicacy, and Junwoo the way he managed to coax such beautiful sounds from his violin. Heny practiced with Junwoo for two more sessions, and exchanged phone numbers and started communicating. As they talked, Junwoo found himself falling more in love with the young violinist, and they had a relationship where he got his first kiss and all that. Unfortunately, just before Junwoo's grand performance, which Henry had promised to attend and had went to all his prior practices, the university student told him he was selected to be a Korean trainee, and had to leave Canada for South Korea. They didn't break the relationship off, technically, but both knew a long-distance relationship wouldn't work out well, and Junwoo, in a fit of heartbreak, cut off all contact with him. Now, Junwoo is in the entertainment industry as well, and avoids Henry at all costs whenever he sees him. He wants to try reconciling with him, but his heart tells him to shut himself off. Besides, it would potentially ruin both their careers. Junwoo tells himself it's for their own good, but somehow, his heart just doesn't listen. ♫

✩ The Friend : Kang Younghyun ✩ 25 ✩ (not too familiar with him sorry) ✩ Bass guitars, music, Day6 ✩ 8/10 ✩ Well he's Young K I suppose?

✩ The first friend he made while he was in JYP. Younghyun was very friendly with him, teaching him all that he needs to know to survive in the industry, and stuck with him throughout his training period. Younghyun, after being chosen and rejected for debut, introduced Junwoo to his friends in what would become Day6, which became like a group of big brothers to him. When Junwoo was scouted away, Younghyun was excited for him, and told him to do his best and cheered him on. Whenever the two meet during music shows, Younghyun would try to catch Junwoo's attention, but of course, being under supervision, he couldn't. Younghyun eventually made his presence known by going to MIDN9TE's waiting room, and since Day6 are sunbaes, they would have to let him in. Younghyun had an inkling of what's going on, but Junwoo tells him not to do anything about it. Younghyun once threatened to sue Areum as well, which Junwoo tells him to forget about. ✩

- The Business

➽ The Boss : Lee Areum ➽ 27 ➽ manipulative, charming, abusive ➽ stiletto heels, venom, perfume ➽ -100/10 ➽ fc: Kim Nahee ➽ pic of her just before a 'session' with Junwoo

➽ Areum hates him, and Junwoo will admit gladly that the feeling is mutual. Being a person with his guard constantly on, Junwoo had shut himself off since the very first day they met, closing his heart and all emotions off from her. Areum hates the fact that she couldn't see through him, and doesn't know what he's thinking, nor what his weaknesses are which she could exploit. And so she grows angry. She is constantly annoyed at him, but because he does nothing except stare at her and give one-word replies to her questions (most of the time), she could only punish him for his 'impertinence', something that has no basis and she knows it. She hates Tatiana as well, the first woman to give her 'attitude' and get away with it. Any session with Areum is a battle of wills between them, and so far, she only managed to get his family's information out of him. Except, obviously, if Areum even tries to use them against him, Hayun and Anastasia would have stomped her out before she even starts. So Junwoo has the satisfaction of knowing his family could fend for themselves, and continues his blank-eyed stares and observing while enduring slaps and interrogating sessions from Areum while repeatedly trying to usurp her from the below.  Fyi, he once called her 'Circe' out loud accidentally and she slapped him before even knowing what it meant. Now, the nickname has circulated to the dorm. (Circe is a beautiful enchantress who turns those who offends her into animals. Of course, Junwoo only told her the 'beautiful' part, saying that he knew nothing of the others. He feigned shock when he heard it) ➽

☂ The Evaluator : Jung Kwanhee ☂ 31 ☂ caring, friendly, sweet ☂ Umbrellas, bandages, fireplaces ☂ 6/10 ☂ fc: Hoya ☂ idk I just sort of gave up on finding one with an explanation

☂ Despite Kwanhee's kindness towards all of them, Junwoo is wary of him, mostly because he is constantly by Areum's side and all those on her side are his enemies. Kwanhee tries to make the boy open up to him with kindness, which just makes him more suspicious in Junwoo's eyes. Eventually, however, seeing him meaning no harm, Junwoo relaxes and lets his guard a little. He still doesn't fully trust the man though, and doesn't have the intention to until the time presents itself. ☂

♪ The Mentor : Im Jinwoo ♪ 28 ♪ caring, secretive, friendly ♪ Dark circles, darker coffee, late nights ♪ 7/10 ♪ fc: Nam Joohyuk

♪ Before Jinwoo was scouted to Rebirth per Areum's request, he was a vocal coach at JYP who had trained Junwoo personally, and thus knew the boy pretty well. Junwoo also found Jinwoo to be a person whom he could confide in, and told him a lot of things about his past that he finds hard to open up to others. At first, he was happy that Jinwoo followed him to Rebirth, thinking that he would at least have someone to rely on, but after seeing Jinwoo's drastic change, Junwoo slowly lets go of that thought, instead watching him intensely to see if any trace of that former Jinwoo would come back. ♪

ø The Bitter One: Yoo Saehwa ø 27 ø abusive, bitter, violent ø heels, sickly-sweet perfume, masks ø 1/10 ø fc: Lee Sungkyung

ø Junwoo seems to have a talent for pissing off the women of Rebirth and Saehwa was no exception. Because of his exceptional dance skills (hey, standing on a stage in one of the world's greatest ballet academies and having a prima ballerina for a mother is no joke), Saehwa is forced to admit that, yes, Junwoo is good. But that doesn't mean that he is immune to her scoldings. In fact, Saehwa loves to point out miniscule details that doesn't even matter during dance practice, such as his foot being 1mm off point or something ridiculous. Junwoo never complains though, and constantly volunteers for late-night practices because he claims he needs it. And since Saehwa can't say no to that, she's forced to bottle her anger and be content with physical bruises instead of verbal ones that could've crumpled his spirit. Besides, he's used to drunken violent dancers; Saehwa is a joke compared to his father. ø

※ The Silent Ally : Kim Yeonjin ※ 24 ※ Silent, observant, smart? ※ dance shoes, music, passion ※ 4/10 ※ Jota (Madtown)

※ Junwoo feels a connection with Yeonjin the way he doesn't with the others. While Junwoo has no doubt that Yeonjin is a man that cannot be easily trusted, he watches him carefully and is somewhat convinced that he doesn't exactly side with Areum. They communicate with their eyes and Junwoo's dance moves that he shows sometimes in practice, ever so carefully. Sometimes, Yeonjin calls Junwoo for late-night 'practices', which was really him letting Yeonjin see his ballet steps to regain his confidence and Yeonjin taking some of them in reference for any future pieces for the group. They have never spoke, but somewhat understands each other. Still, Junwoo is watching him carefully, and he has no doubt that Yeonjin does as well. ※

✿ The Sass : Do Yeonghwa (I nearly wrote Jaehyo oops) ✿ 32 ✿ Sassy, loud, confident ✿ Fabric, glitter, more fabric ✿ 5/10 ✿ fc: Jaehyo ✿ pic of him being visibly annoyed at everything in sight

✿ Yeonghwa is someone that Junwoo had gave up upon, and the same may be true vice versa. And by giving up upon, it just really means that Yeonghwa takes none of the observant/quiet/judging that Junwoo does. He's loud, he's blunt, he's clearly visible and somehow Junwoo couldn't find a way to hate him because the man is already high on his let-me-push-you-off-a-cliff list. Anyways. Junwoo doesn't trust Yeonghwa, but he has faith in him and that's already counting for something. Yeonghwa es about Junwoo's fashion taste, gives him advice, and es some more. How can you scrutinize harder about a man who is so open about everything? Junwoo still has his suspicions about Yeonghwa, but they are gradually vanishing into thin air because that man is just. Well, Yeonghwa. ✿

❉ The Enemy : Yoo Sangho ❉ 31 ❉ abusive, manipulative, brutal ❉ Flowering bruises, late-night threats, anger ❉ -10/10 ❉ fc: Ahn Jaehyun

❉ Sangho is one of the few people that could actually make Junwoo's blood boil and get to his head. While he's physically strong and extremely intelligent as well, somehow Junwoo's games and facades were torn the moment they were fabricated. Sangho is intelligent, far more intelligent than the others, and Junwoo hates the fact that he stands above him. He shuts up though, because he knows they have to wait, and that any word that comes out of his mouth in anything less than an obedient tone would result in serious consequences. Thank goodness Junwoo has high pain tolerance, and has the satisfaction of not crying out when blows land on his body, but he fears for his friends' safety, and is right to do so. Junwoo, being a dancer since a very young age, learns the ways of soothing and accelerating healing of bruises from his mother, and is the unofficial healer of the group. ❉

☼ The Angel : Seo Hyoji ☼ 24 ☼ sweet, caring, friendly ☼ ice-cream, sweets, rememdies ☼ 5/10 ☼ fc: Irene

☼ Hyoji may have reminded Junwoo too much of his sister, Kyuhwan, because he somehow couldn't bring himself to dwell on too many suspicions about her. Junwoo still tries to put up a guard in front of her though, but it wavers a lot when she fusses over him, and scolds him on not taking good enough care of himself everytime she sees the bandages wrapped around his feet or calves. He then decides to give up entirely and shows her his vulnerable side, not through words but through subtle actions like the shifting of his gaze or tension bleeding out of his shoulders. He's not sure whether Hyoji understands it however, but he has trust in her. Albeit it being a very small amount, but it's trust nonetheless.☼

▷ The One with Facades : Kang Haneul ▷ 29 ▷ manipulative, sweet, corrupt ▷ perfume, ribbons, masks ▷ 0/10 ▷ fc: Choa

▷ Junwoo has a talent for dealing with these kinds of women, and he knows it. At first, Haneul established that he's one of the weaker ones, and like Areum, dragged him to have a 'session' with him, which he again stared her down and just basically has a disregard for her. Haneul preys on the weak to elicite responses from them, Junwoo knows that much, so he doesn't give her the satisfaction of seeing him suffer. Haneul quickly moved on to other targets, and since Junwoo knows he can stand for himself, he helps Kyunhee and [roar] to keep her at bay. ▷

◁ The Unpredictable One : Kang Nara ◁ 29 ◁ abusive, brutal, unpredictable ◁  more masks, perfume, fake smiles ◁ 0/10 ◁ fc: Choa

◁ Junwoo often has more trouble dealing with Nara, and Haneul, knowing it, always employs her sister to go after Junwoo when needed. A session with Nara is also another game of wit and will, but because she is unpredictable in all aspects and never shows any pattern or regularity in her behavour, Junwoo couldn't find a chink in her armor that easily, and he hates it. That said, he refuses to show her any weakness either, and gives her the usual treatment: stare and shut up. Nara is unfazed by that though, and merely gives him a smirk that says, "Two can play this game." ◁

♡ The Princess : Natalya ♡ 2 ♡ Proud, arrogant, cunning ♡ sharp eyes, sharper claws, ribbons ♡ 10/10 ♡ Breed: Russian Blue

♡ The Princess of the Helvenskya household, as well as of the MIDN9TE dorm. She acquainted herself quickly with Yeonghwa's cat, and now Junwoo couldn't stop her prowing the corridors with Princess Valencia. She wears a blue satin ribbon around her neck, proof of her royalty status (lmao). Natalya rarely listens to anyone and usually does her own thing, but she loves Junwoo, and allows him to pet him and even sits on his lap sometimes. It took quite some time, but eventually Natalya warms up to the members of MIDN9TE and identifies them as not-her-enemies, and allows a stray hand or two to rest upon her body. It depends on her mood, however, because Natalya is quick to resort to nips and scratches, and she takes no from anyone, not even Junwoo. Natalya is also very clever, and usually vanishes out of sight when Areum or Sammy or someone else tries to identify who the hell just knocked down pens and spilled stuff everywhere. She also never lets them catch the fact that she's Junwoo's pet, and so protect her master. Fyi, because of her friendship with Princess Valencia, she also never bothers Yeonghwa and treats him the same way she treats Junwoo. ♡

Ψ The Repressed Monarch : Nicholas (it's pronounced Ni-ko-la) Ψ 2 Ψ Shy, naiveΨ hiding places, the washing machine (hey it's warm), sad eyes Ψ 10/10 Ψ Breed: Russian Blue

Ψ Older brother of Natalya, Nicholas is constantly bullied by her. As a result, he shies away from her quite often and seeks Junwoo for help, who often laughs and pulls Nicholas to his lap while reprimanding his younger sister. Nicholas lets all the members of MIDN9TE touch him, something that Natalya turns her nose up at. He's also the baby of the pets, despite his age stating otherwise. Usually, Nicholas hides away while Natalya does all the intimidating business, but when his little sister is hurt, there will be hell to pay. Ψ

< i am mikhail >

stagename Mikhail (미하일)

☪ It's his name but I'll explain it nonetheless. Mikhail means, literally, 'gift from god', and Anastasia views her child, be they a girl or a boy, a gift from God, so ever since she knew she was pregnant, she has had that name in mind.

☪ Zachary; Areum had pondered over that for some time, but ultimately decided that Mikhail is prettier and 'had a touch to it'.

persona The Ethereal Dancer + The Charming er

plotline Lotto (Grrr)

position Main dancer, lead vocal, rapper

fanclub Angels/ангелы (pronounced as 'angely', apparently) [I know about as much Russian as you do lmao]

☪ The reason is simple enough. His name means 'a gift from god', so why not relate it to the angels as well?

After he entered JYP, he was wary at first because these are completely new surroundings, but then he quickly got accustomed to everything, so it was fine. Later, he got chosen for a few debut line-ups, but didn't really make it at the end. Junwoo still stayed at JYP though, since he liked the atmosphere. When Areum scouted him, he was hesitant, but after hearing from Young K that Areum is, or was, one of the biggest stars in the industry, he agreed. And regrets that choice.

< history >

when lee areum approached him...

It was one of the more fustrating days. Despite training, training, and more traning, Junwoo felt a complete lack of progression from his first day there. Sure, he had acquired singing and rapping skills, but really, what good does that serve him now? In his anger, Junwoo reached out and kicked the mirror in anger, then swore in Russian. The tip of his sneaker had left a dirt-coloured smear on the otherwise clear surface, and caused his foot to throb painfully.

Suddenly, there was a prompt tap at the door, which shook him out of his anger-induced stupor and alerted him to the time; 11:00pm. It was late, and he had told the janitors that he would take care of everything when he leaves. The lights in the building were all off, at least the ones in his side of the agency. Who would it be, then?

"Who is there?"

Instead of a reply, the person in question had took it as an affirmation, and sailed into the room. The woman walked with a sense of confidence that established herself as a Very Important Person, except Junwoo didn't recognize her and merely stared, his eyes following her as she waltzed into the dance practice room.

"My name is Lee Areum," She announced the fact as if she was the Queen of Sheba, and recieved only a blank stare in return. The woman then sighed, a little irritated, before a gracious smile spread over her face.

"I've heard of your superior dancing ability that triumphs over even skilled trainees. You have a background in ballet, yes?"

Junwoo nodded mutely, still unsure of this woman and what her intentions were. He watched her carefully as she started pacing around the room, and in return, size him up as well. "That's perfect. I need another dancer in my group."

"What group?" He asked cautiously, picking up on that word.

"I see that your talents are slowly going to waste here," Areum continued, as if she hadn't heard his question. "And it doesn't seem like JYP has intentions of debuting you soon. Such a waste," She sighed, a hint of fustration in her tone which stabbed at Junwoo. "You would be perfect onstage."

"What are you getting at?"

At this, the woman revealed a smile - except there was no friendliness or kindness, though the chill disappeared so quickly Junwoo thought he was hallucinating.

"You're frustrated here, aren't you? Join me. I'm debuting a group consisting of extremely talented individuals, and you would be one of them, if you agree. There may even be, ah, a possibility of you being able to re-start your ballet career," Areum added, twisting the truth to sweeten the deal.

Junwoo stared at the hand extended towards him, and contemplated for a long time, staring at the woman all the while, whose smile did not waver. At last, he seemed to have reached a resolution, and stood up, promptly ignoring the extended hand while heading to the door. Just before he pushed the handle and exit the room, Junwoo turned, with fingers on the metal handle, and said, before leaving,

"I'll think about it."

the private audition The moment he entered the room, Junwoo found himself tensing up, and wondering whether it was the right choice to make or not. It was too late though, when one of the trainees saw him, eyes quickly flitting at him before flitting away. Junwoo sighed a little; since he was there, might as well make it through.

He spent the time warming up to look at the other trainees, sizing them up and making careful observations. Junwoo was going to dance, because obviously he would be a main dancer of the group; he chose John Legend's All of Me, mostly because it was a really familiar melody and it could allow him to showcase both his ballet and modern dance skills (familiar to both him and the judges; no one could appreciate Tchaikovsky anyways).

Of course, Junwoo prepared for any chance of a singing or rapping audition, just in case. The moment he finished showcasing his dancing, with his grace and delicacy combined with skill, the judges were awed (as they should be lmao), of course, except for Areum, who expected this much and merely smiled in satisfaction. They also asked him to sing, and he gave a short exerpt of VIXX's Error, which he had covered before. They didn't ask him to rap.

At the end, Junwoo didn't really feel much satisfaction or anything, honestly. He was just glad to get it done, because he remembered being really tired during the audition.

the other eight

(I don't know why, but when I used the brackets to frame the names of the plotlines they just magically disappear so I'll just write their names)

As he scanned the room, Junwoo caught the way that Kyunhee was warming up, stretching carefully, and immediately recognized him as another dancer. Maybe Kyunhee felt the weight of his gaze, because he looked up and caught Junwoo's eyes on him, and nodded at him in some sort of recgonition. Junwoo nodded back somewhat absent-mindedly, while his mind was running with all sorts of thoughts.

Roar had a dangerous gaze in his eyes, as if he was ready to take on anyone that would come his way. There was also some kind of fire detected in his tone as he practised rapping, and Junwoo thought he would better stay out of his way until he knew better.

There was an intelligent glint in Grrr's eyes, and the first impression was that Junwoo might be able to make an ally out of him. Immediately, the second impression formed was that might possibly stab him in the back. Further scrutinizing might be needed, before he could determine the boy was foe or ally.

Limitless had a familiar face. and Junwoo thought he recognized him from, maybe some kind of survival show or TV show...? Whatever it was, Junwoo saw a starry glint in his eyes, and immediately distrusted him. He was also determined not to get too close, because there wouldn't be any good coming out of trusting an easily decieved person.

Chain seemed alright to him, since there didn't seem to be anything special about him. He immediately noticed the long sleeves that had on though, even though it was the height of summer. The first thing that came across his mind was that might have some scars to hide, though he secretly reprimanded himself and told himself not to go too far into his deductions.

He could also somehow see a shine in Shine's  eyes (yes pun intended), which somewhat unsettled him as well, but he believed that he wouldn't be as naive as Limitless . At least, that's what he hoped.

Junwoo could see Whiplash being quiet and mostly keeping to himself, but otherwise didn't think too much of it,  except the possibility that he might be able to be some kind of ally or confidant.

only having one another At first, Junwoo didn't want to get himself too involved in everything, and preferred to play the role of an observor and a behind-the-scenes character instead of being on the front lines. However, when things started to get worse and graudually revealled themselves, he began taking on a more active role, though because he was used to fading into the background, this proved a bit difficult for him, because his conversing skills are...not entirely desirable.

Junwoo asumes the role of advisor of the group. He warns the other members whenever needed, and gives them advice on how to tackle Areum and the others. He also help bandage the members up when needed, and is the healer of the group.

thoughts on rebirth At first he's skeptical and wary of his teammates
