‎ ‎ ≛ CHRIS HAN

the basics.

name Christopher Han
other names
— han jumin 한주민 his Korean name. It is mainly used by his father and extended family members living in South Korea.
nicknames
— chris the name he primarily goes by, and would much rather be called as compared to Christopher (because it’s long and, in his opinion, rather old-fashioned).
— chrissie a nickname given by none other than his twin sister, Charlotte. He’s not fond of this nickname, one of the main reasons being that it’s a girl’s name. Whenever Charlotte calls him by his name, it’s mainly to annoy him (lovingly).
— christoph, toph, topher other nicknames originating from his English name. He’s called as such mainly by his friends, though to a much lesser extent than Chris.
— christopher robin with Winnie the Pooh being such an iconic book and television series during his childhood, and him being rather similar to Christopher Robin personality-wise, somebody is bound to give him this nickname at some point.
— min a nickname orginating from his Korean name. He's mainly called as such by her relatives in South Korea.

birth date September 20, 2000
birth place New York City, USA
hometown New York City, USA

ethnicity Korean
nationality American

languages
— english 100% fluent. Having been born and raised in the US, it’s expected that he’ll be fluent in the language.
— korean 75% fluent. Although he speaks in Korean to his mother rather often and exclusively in Korean when it comes to his extended family, it’s clear that he struggles in expressing himself and understanding others, which has earned him a look of disapproval or two from uncle Jaejoon and aunt Jihye.

face claim Hanbin, ZEROBASEONE

appearance
If you’re looking for someone who fits the textbook definition of Mr Nice Guy, the perfect Asian son, or even both, Chris is your guy. He always carries himself in an approachable manner, with a friendly smile and good posture. His good looks only serves to add to the gentlemanly vibe that he gives off, so it probably won’t be an exaggeration to say that he has the ability of charming the pants off a girl right from the first meeting.

He currently sports short dark brown hair, his natural hair colour, and has no plans to dye his hair or change his hairstyle anytime soon. He doesn’t have any piercings or tattoos, and likewise has no plans for getting them. It’s not because he dislikes them, but he simply doesn’t have any interest in drastically changing up his looks in any way.

style
Chris’s dressing can be broken down into three components- T-shirt, jeans and sneakers. Is it basic? Truth to be told, yes. But it’s precisely because it’s basic that it makes it easy to add on to the outfit or swap something out for something else. He could add a couple of accessories (his favourite being hats and rings) and wear a sweatshirt instead, and guess what? He won’t look out of style.

It’s for this reason his wardrobe mainly consists of basics and usually in solid colours. Even his accessories are minimalistic in nature. He tends to avoid wearing flashy colours or prints, finding that he cannot carry them well and doesn’t have much confidence wearing them. If anyone sees statement clothing or accessories in his wardrobe, it’s highly likely that he got it as a gift or as part of a sponsorship deal.

personality.

charming, confident, friendly,
assertive, forthright, private,
reserved, unrelenting, aggressive

Chris Han’s probably the guy a girl should want in her boyfriend.

It ultimately boils down to the way he presents himself. He’s the kind of person who will take the first step to approach someone and break the ice and ask them how things are going. And oh, there’s his encouraging smile, which so many people think is his most charming point. If someone manages to become his friend, it’s pretty comparable to winning the jackpot. He’ll hang out with them and keep them company, offer a listening ear whenever they need someone to talk to (and not ask questions when it’s not needed), be happy for them and celebrate their success.

With the way he behaves in a public setting, it comes as a surprise that he doesn’t consider himself to be close to a whole lot of people. Yes, it’s true that he has the ability to make many friends, but that’s provided that he actually wants to do so. In reality, he just considers the way he talks to people as simply taking an interest in them, to help them have an easier time and have a familiar face among the crowd. Once he’s done, he’s immediately walking away from the large crowd and back into a space where he’ll feel much more comfortable. A quiet space where he can retreat back into his own thoughts, to be precise.

But yet, it still doesn’t stop him from making himself heard. He’s certainly far from being the most outgoing person, but when the time calls for it, he will do something and not just sit idly by. Someone getting picked on by someone else? He will either diffuse the tension or stand up for the person. Someone going a step too far? He’d put a stop to it while trying to make sure that no one gets offended. Something he disagrees with? He has no qualms interrupting the other person and voicing his thoughts. Every time he steps in, he does so with plenty of conviction. The words he chooses are so carefully curated that people look at him in awe more often than not.

As polite as he tries to be, there’s no denying that he is direct in what he says, including his commands and his criticism. For the most part, people are okay with it, but not so much for other people who are more likely to think he’s being unnecessarily harsh. This especially happens when people attempt to pry into affairs he deems as more personal. He’s not particularly open to sharing such matters, especially when it doesn’t concern the person who’s asking about them in any way. Not everyone is able to take the hint, however, until he says rather forcefully to drop that matter. On the good side, this means that he’s clear about his boundaries. On the not so great side, people will start to question what’s gotten into him. This includes uncle Jaejoon and aunt Jihye, who emphasise respect towards elders.

The answer to that is simple. He’s just being himself, and he doesn’t get why he needs to explain himself all the time.

background.

When Jaebeom travelled to New York City, planning to work there for 3 years before he headed to another country, he met Annabelle Han, who worked in the same building as he did. Like the other girls Jaebeom was involved with, Annabelle soon fell for his charming ways and before long, they were dating. But it didn’t last long, however, the both of them eventually breaking up due to incompatibility.

Just a month before Jaebeom was to head for the next country on his list, Annabelle realised that she had become pregnant. When he heard of this, he attempted to take responsibility in the form of raising his child (later children) together with her. But she wouldn’t hear of it; she’ll manage somehow, and didn’t want to end up in potentially awkward situations should the both of them co-parent. Turned out that her decision was for the best because of Jaebeom’s womanising ways, which, she would soon realise, means that he isn’t the most reliable person around.

Chris is the younger twin, having been born 15 minutes after his older twin, Charlotte. Growing up, for the most part, involved being in New York City together with his mum and twin sister. They do travel once every year to South Korea to meet their father, uncle, aunts and cousins, but outside of the yearly visits, they don’t talk to them much. As a result, they’re arguably family members the rest of the Hwan family is the most distant to. Not that anyone really questioned it, including Chris himself (though a small part of him might wish he was a bit closer to his extended family, especially his cousins).

He’s lived a pretty standard life- study to get a high school diploma, then enrol in a university to get a degree. Though his love for baking (thanks to his mother and working at a Starbucks after class) suggests otherwise. To add on to that, one day, during his third year of university, he came across a talent search organised by WLTW, one of the largest radio stations in New York City. At the encouragement of his friends, he signed up for the competition.

Little did he expect that his ability to communicate and establish rapport with people would turn out to be his biggest asset, allowing him to advance to the semi-finals and eventually, the finals! He later went on to impress judges during the finals and place second in the search.

With him winning second place, this means that his job is pretty much secured. During his final year, he worked as a part-time radio personality for WLTW on the weekends, and after graduating from university, became a full-time radio personality.

But of course, he doesn’t want to just put all his eggs into one basket, and do something else should he decide to move on from being a radio personality. That’s what motivated him to join forces with two friends from university and open a cafe, Honey+Cupcake, which sells drinks, desserts and pastries with their recipes having been created by the founders themselves. And the best part of it all? With Chris as a relatively well-known radio personality, they’ve already gotten some attention from the get go. But what ensured their continued success is the high quality of every single item on the menu and the rave reviews they’ve gotten so far.

He’s living a happy life and doing things he enjoys. What more can he ask for?

lifestyle.

occupation Radio personality at WLTW, Co-founder of Honey+Cupcake

routine
As of now, he’s part of the noon radio programme at WLTW- Monday to Friday, 12 pm to 3 pm until he’s shuffled to work on another programme at another timing.

Outside of his work as a radio personality, he spends time at Honey+Cupcake. He’s involved in pretty much every single operation of the cafe, be it baking and making drinks, interacting with customers, or sitting down with his team to think of new menu items, promotions or events, or experimenting with new products for the cafe. As such, he can work as late as 10 pm every single day.

Since he’s considered a micro influencer (based on his Instagram follower count), there are brands that have approached him for collaborations and sponsorships. Although he doesn’t really see himself as a micro influencer, he does accept their requests should the brand and its products align with his own personal tastes. This will then involve him taking photos, videos or even visiting stores as part of his influencer work.

When he’s not working on any of these, it’s basically time for him to relax. He can be found reading a good book, watching a movie, gaming or heading out to explore the city (or even travelling overseas should he take time off work).

current living situation
A few months into working as a full-time radio personality, Chris and Charlotte moved into an apartment a 20-minute drive away from their old home. It’s relatively small, but it has everything they need- a living room, kitchen, 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms and a balcony. Should there be a major change in the future, he may consider moving houses again.

secret
There’s nothing major that he’s hiding from anyone in the Hwan family, actually. If anything, he thinks that some of his relatives’ values and beliefs are outdated, or rather, not in line with his current values and beliefs. For example, respecting his elders, not having before marriage, or even their understanding about ual orientation and gender. He does clarify things from time to time (especially the latter), but never outrightly tells them that they’re in the wrong for thinking in such a way.

Truth to be told, he does kind of wish that he’s closer to his family in South Korea. But after so many years and already being accustomed to just seeing them once every year, he isn’t exactly sure how he should talk to them or how he should forge a deeper connection with them. If anything, he hopes that his relatives will be the one to take the first step in breaking the ice.

the holidays.
chuseok
Chris has to admit that there’s really no better place to celebrate Chuseok than in South Korea with his relatives. This is because celebrating Chuseok is always such a grand affair, with plenty of food and drinks to go around. Of course, his favourite food would have to be songpyeon, considering how aunt Youngae would make them in so many pretty colours and he’s always loved eating them to see what flavour he got.

In contrast, Chuseok is celebrated on a much smaller scale in the States, and it lacks a certain festive atmosphere that he experienced with his relatives in South Korea. However, he will make his own songpyeon and other sweet treats reminiscent of the times he spent with his extended family (and they’ve been very well received by his mother and sister and friends). Now that he’s visiting them once again, you can expect him to be helping out by making food and delicacies for the occasion.

halloween
When he was younger, he always went trick-or-treating together with Charlotte in matching costumes, once even dressing up as Siamese twins.

Although he doesn’t really celebrate Halloween by going trick-or-treating nowadays, he still makes it a point to dress up in matching costumes with his sister every year. It’s also the time of the year where he plans Halloween-themed desserts, and does he enjoy making them in the shape of ghosts, bats, pumpkins and other things that remind people of the festival.

christmas
Arguably his favourite holiday. It’s probably got something to do with the decorations, the gifts, the food, the music, the winter magic in the air. Unfortunately, it’s also one of the peak periods at his cafe, with everyone pre-ordering and buying Christmas-themed cakes and cookies and puddings. But he likes seeing the smile on everyone’s faces when they buy something they like, so he doesn’t find it that tiring.

Once he’s done with closing shop at 1 pm, he will get together with his friends and family and soak up the festivities and cheer. After all, he deserves a much needed rest after working so hard. He’s also no stranger to attending Christmas parties, since every party he’s attended guarantees a delicious meal and lots of fun games.

new year's day
Although Chris doesn’t find New Year’s Day particularly special as compared to the likes of Korean New Year or Independence Day or Thanksgiving or Christmas, he does enjoy counting down and watching the ball drop at Times Square.

It’s also the time of the year where he gets invited to parties and, as you can expect, involves lots of drinking. Of course, he never drinks enough to get drunk (and consequently do funny business that he might end up regretting), so he often is the one who is helping his friends when they have a drop too much or stopping them from getting into trouble.

holiday video!
How do you feel about coming back to Hwan village, or having everyone come back to Hwan village?
“It’s been a while since I’ve seen everyone, and I’m talking in terms of years,” Chris says with a small chuckle. “Of course, I’m quite happy to be here again, and I’m quite curious if anything’s changed or not. I’ve taken a long leave off work, so I hope this visit will be a good one.”

Who is your favourite aunt or uncle?
“Aunt Youngae,” he replies almost immediately after he is asked. “Not saying that uncle Jaejoon or aunt Jihye isn’t good, but I get along with aunt Youngae more and I talk to her a bit more often.”

We’re doing Secret Santa this year. What do you hope to get?
“Something that is functional and useful, that’s for sure. But I certainly don’t want to receive gifts like a mug, a water bottle, an overly small bag or stuffed toys. I received them too many times over the years, and I’ve got no use for them,” he says with a slight shudder, clearly recalling the numerous instances where he’s gotten the aforementioned items during his birthday or Christmas.

Should we do this again next year?
“We’ll have to see,” he laughs. “My work as a radio personality and cafe owner doesn’t allow me to take very long breaks like this one I’m on right now. So if I come back next year, it’ll probably be for a week or two at most.”

The parents are giving us a surprise on New Year’s Day. What do you hope it is?
“Something pleasant?” he answers with a bit of uncertainty. “Well, since you’ve decided not to give me any clues whatsoever, I can’t give you a more specific answer. And of course, who wants the surprise to be something unpleasant?”
sister!
The both of them grew up practically attached to the hip and doing everything together. As such, it’s expected that they will regard each other as their best friend, their partner in crime.

As Charlotte is far more reserved and shy than Chris is, whenever she socialises and talks to people, it’s highly likely that Chris has encouraged and motivated to do so. Chris will also usually be the person to say something first unless Charlotte actually wants to do so. Or dragging her out of the house to do something fun, for that matter. If there’s one thing that they’ll definitely do without question, it’ll be to game together (Genshin Impact is one of them).

The bond between the both of them is so strong to the point where all it takes is a look to have a good idea what their twin is thinking about. It’s thus difficult for both Chris and Charlotte to hide their thoughts and struggles from each other, since this usually ends up in them confiding in each other. Even if they may not always be able to offer help, they know that they will always have their twin’s 100% support, no matter what happens.

mother!
Chris has pretty much nothing but respect for his mum. Raising Charlotte and himself all by herself was no easy task, yet she was always there whenever he and his twin sister needed her. What’s even more impressive is that she’s juggling a full time job, and he can see that she’s doing superbly well in this area, too. Because growing up, he and his sister led lives that were relatively free from financial struggles.

Now that he’s grown up and leading a life of his own, he definitely would want to do his part in making sure that his mother has a comfortable life after having worked so hard. And the best way to do it would be to talk to her every day and visit her once every week unless he’s too busy with work. He and Charlotte will also pool their money together and gift her things that are of good quality and will definitely have a use for.

father!
There’s not a lot that Chris can say about his father, to be honest. Aside from knowing that he used to date his mum, talking to him once every few weeks over the phone and visiting him in South Korea once every year, the both of them don’t interact with each other. As a result, they’re virtually strangers, although they get along pretty okay whenever they meet.

He doesn’t really care if his father wishes to play a more active role in his life, partly because he’s used to just having his mother and sister around for the most part, and partly because he’s never really held resentment towards his father. Not for him being barely involved in his growing up (his mother is very open about her past relationship with Jaebeom), and surprisingly, also not for his womanising ways.

relatives!
Like Jaebeom, there’s not much Chris can also say about his uncle and aunts. If his talks and visits with his father are very limited, it’s even more so for his relatives, whom he only chats with during his yearly visits to South Korea.

He remembers uncle Jaejoon being very kind to him, always taking the initiative to ask after him or keep him company. The same still applies now, of course, though Chris is much more vocal in disagreeing with his rather “traditional” (he would use the term “outdated” if he wanted to) viewpoints about careers and marriage and dating and so on.

As for aunt Jihye, Chris remembers her as someone who is rather stern and didn’t smile nearly as much as his father or uncle does. When he was younger, he didn’t really like talking to his aunt very much, because she looked so scary. Now that he’s older, he can hold a conversation with her just fine. But like his uncle, he has his moments where he disagrees with what she says, earning him a look or comment of disapproval. Not like he cares much about that anyway.

Aunt Youngae, on the other hand, is a breath of fresh air. She’s patient and open-minded and always willing to listen to him (though he feels bad when he gets carried away). She’s very easy to get along with, more so than his father and uncle and other aunt. But what he doesn’t like as much is her trouble with setting boundaries. Whenever someone asks something of aunt Youngae and he knows it’s something that she doesn’t really want to do, he’ll step in before can even reluctantly agree to it.

cousin!
Much like the rest of his relatives, he doesn’t consider himself to be close to Youngjae. The lack of closeness doesn’t really bother Youngjae that much, apparently, with how he drags his older cousin into various antics whenever he comes to visit.

Now that Youngjae is set on filming his family and relatives for his “greatest masterpiece”, Chris will find himself being dragged once again to help him out with filming. He doesn’t mind it, not in the slightest, and it’s perhaps through this that he gets to know Youngjae better and even grows closer to him.

comments
Oh my god, I can’t believe that I managed to finish the app. I apologise if the writing quality is bad, I was rushing to complete it on top of dealing with a lack of inspiration. Still, I hope it wasn’t too difficult to read, and please let me know if I need to clarify or edit anything.

scene suggestions
— Twin moments between Chris and Charlotte
— Chris baking desserts and sweet treats for everyone
— An argument breaking out among the members of the Hwan family, perhaps?
— I feel that Youngjae might probably ask Chris to demonstrate how he speaks as a radio personality for his video, and Chris would be happy to oblige
— It’ll also be interesting to see Chris disagree with someone in the Hwan family, and it's serious enough to cause some tension between himself and the Hwan family member in question
— Game night! If possible, I’d like to see him game with Charlotte, but also members of the Hwan family playing games together
