APPEARANCE sooae has a cute appearance, when you see her you just want to put her in your pocket. she's only 150cm so she's pretty tiny and maybe its the chubby cheeks  or the fact that she's fun sized but she gives off an innocent aura. most people are surprised that she's even a college student. she has bangs and short black hair and a slim figure.

STYLE sooae dresses like she was born in the wrong era, she probably was tbh. but she's happy with how she dresses, even though she got many stares in korea for not blending in. she likes to be versatile by mixing and matching colors or patterns. most of her inspiration comes from the 60s and 70s. she thrift shops most of her clothes and loves vintage name brand items though she can't always afford them.

BACKGROUND

sooae was born in seoul south korea as kim sooae, the only daughter to dvd bang owners. her dad was a huge fan of classic movies and had an extensive collection, their dvd bang was different than the rest because they didn't have the latest movies like everyone else. instead they focused on older movies, mostly korean and american. sooae was a huge daddys girl and as a result she too became obsessed with old movies like gone with the wind and casablanca. she even loved classic hits from old jazz to 80s rock.

she struggled to make friends growing up because instead of watching the latest and most popular shows or listening to trending music, she still preferred the classics. by the time she started to know some dbsk songs, she found out that they were not longer a group. she was out of touch with reality, when she was at karaoke with her friends she was the only one singing because no one else knew the lyrics to livin on a prayer by jon bonjovi, let alone speak english. 

her interest in the past naturally had her develop an interest in history, it was her best subject since she was little. learning about how the people before us lived and how we got to where we were today fascinated her way more than the inevitable future. she applied to jeju university as a history major and an english minor because even she couldn't resist their beautiful gardens.

sooae takes the motherly role in her friend groups usually. she ends up being the designated driver, cook, and the person people go to when they're upset because she just has a comforting aura. when she makes a promise not to tell or to do something, she keeps it. if you ask for advice she'll be honest but lay the truth in a gentle way so not to hurt your feelings.

her soft voice makes her come off as really cute, like she can't hurt a fly. she actually probably won't hurt a fly because she loves bugs and all animals. she rather let them go than kill them. she's an observant person and is constantly aware of her environment, so if someone is feeling uncomfortable she'll notice it and take care of them. she does a lot for other people, she doesn't mind washing the dishes while everyone else has fun or driving while everyone sleeps. she doesn't expect a thank you either, its just how she is. so people might think she's a pushover but she really isn't. she knows when people are trying to take advantage of her and she's quick to decline them and will tell them know why too.

she's like the opposite of fake because she has this weird unexpected bluntness thing going on. she prefers to take the listening role in conversations, she's not shy to talk she just likes listening to others ideas and point of views. sometimes when she does contribute to the conversation, she says the most random things that no one would expect innocent little sooae to say. like if she hooks up with someone and she has to leave early the next morning, before she leaves she'll write them a letter on a piece of paper or napkin she finds saying something like "thank you for the wonderful ual experience, i had a great time. you lasted longer than my last boyfriend ^^ but i am not interested in furthering our relationship so please do not try to contact me. have a good day ^^" with a lollipop next to it or something. as a realist she doesn't get shy by topics like or breakups because she's an open book and knows its apart of life.

she's also really adventurous, she's a strong believer of yolo and is basically down for anything except the things that she's not down for. when she makes up her mind on something theres no changing it. she forms her own ideas and opinions on many topics. she isn't argumentative though so she isn't bothered by people with opposite views, but she definitely won't change her own to fit everyone else. she likes learning new things and doesn't mind sprinkling her own knowledge on others. if her friends dont want to do the thing she wants then she doesn't mind splitting from them and doing it on her own and meeting with them later. she's fine with her own company and doing what makes her happy. she has terrible long term planning skills though. she just does what she likes in the moment so she's not good at sticking to plans. 

she's really slow moving emotionally. she isn't the best at verbalizing how she feels. one thing she doesn't like is judgment. since she believes in expressing yourself and making yourself happy, people who make fun of others because something simply isn't "their thing" irritate her. instead of arguing she would just completely cut them off, which is something she never had a problem doing when others no longer suit her. she can be seen as insensitive for randomly cutting people off but its not random in her mind because she's thought it through.

its hard to see her angry ever because she internalizes so much. she deals with her anger on her own, people won't even realize she's upset. when talking about things that upset her she'll make dark comments but somehow remain calm and smiling. the only time sooae isn't calm and gentle is when she's drunk. thats when her wildside comes out and she dances on tables and kisses random people. then in the morning, she wakes up early and makes breakfast for everyone like nothing happened.

SCHEDULE sooae is a morning person so morning classes are ideal for her. she likes to give herself an hour and a half before class to make breakfast for her and her rommates and take her time in the morning. after classes she'd study if she has time since all her classes would have homework. if she's not studying she's working or exploring jeju. she joins the classic films club that literally just watches a classic film once a week and talks about it. sometimes she invites her friends to go with her but only if they show interest, a lot of the time she goes alone. she might join a book club or the photography club too if she has time.

she works at the library since she loves books. she would work everyday except weekends since she's tight on money. she'd party on the weekends and maybe friday. on sundays she goes to church and volunteers there. she might work on sunday if she needs the money. she tends to sleep at 1am on regular days when she's not partying or working late

hello! welcome to the jeju university family! can you tell me a bit about yourself?

hello my name is kim sooae, i'm not sure what to say really. i grew up in seoul, my parents owned a dvd bang so i grew up on vintage movies and music. i guess you can tell from how i dress hehe.

out of all the colleges in korea, why did you pick jeju university and why your major?

jeju university is beautiful, who wouldn't want to study here? i saw the gardens on the website and i couldn't resist. as for my major, i am a history major with an english minor. as i said i love classic movies so that really influenced my decision.

where do you see yourself in 10 years?

in 10 years i hope to be a museum curator or archivist. they basically restore historical items but i want to be able to restore old film.

what would you say are your biggest strengths and weaknesses?

i think my observation skills are my strength, maybe a weakness could be that i hold things in. but i don't think its that bad, i'll speak up if i have to.

as a freshman you will reside in chungsam hall, what do you look for in a roommate? any lifestyle habits that you find intolerable?

hm i'm open to anything as long as they're nice and open to getting to know me. people tend to judge me because of how i dress so someone that doesn't do that would be nice.

what are you looking forward to the most as an incoming freshman?

my goal is to go to every museum in jeju city so i'm looking forward to accomplishing that. also checking out the library and learning more about the history of jeju. it would be nice to make friends too but either way i'm fine.
