Outrage

 

I've been a very active reader here on AFF and have read some really amazing stories. I understand that not everyone on here reads the same things and some constructive critism is ok too. But lately things have seriously gotten out of hand. Just a few minutes ago DevilsNeverCry13, one of my favorite authors just announced that they will be discontinuing all of their stories because of the reports filed and the rude comments left on on of their most popular stories. One of my bookmarked stories got banned because someone didn't like the age difference. WHICH IS FINE. But if you don't like the story then there's a back button and a red x button on your browser. UTILIZE THEM. Honestly, don't ruin it for everyone else just because you don't like it, find some other story to read, there are plenty. It's not fair to the authors who put in the time and effort to write stories just to have some prude come and have their stories banned. I see authors deactivating their accounts left and right because of this since it seems like triggers and warnings aren't enough to keep these folks at bay. Before you know it NO stories will be written since the authors will see it as a waste of time and move on to other websites. Seriously if this continues there may no longer be an AsianFanfics. Then what?

There are rules on the website that are in place to protect the website(and sometimes the users). When someone reports something that is against the rules, that's not wrong to do. If the story got banned, the reason wasn't an age difference(that's not against the rules), the reason would have been something else--glorification of ? characters under the age of 18 having ual contact with characters over 18? I don't know because I don't know what the report said. Reports are easy to find, if you are curious as to why it was banned. Moderators have been very reasonable and have allowed authors to have their stories unbanned by changing the age of underage characters that are involved in ual situations. The author just needs to respond to the report and ask the moderator to unban if they change the age.
As for mean comments, well there's just no place for that.

This happens to me too and it makes me mad.
Its mostly the kids parents who walk in for the site being reported and the mean comments well the readers need to grow up and mature.
I hope aff stays because there are tons of stories that i love to read on here
