something i need to get off my chest (rant)

Alright enough. Enough is enough.

While you guys were there collecting awards and smiling widely with the Principal, have you ever thought of the other people in other CCAs? There's a reason why we hate. It might not be your damn fault, but there's jolly well a reason. No matter how you justify with "hardwork" and "dedication" you guys have put in your craft and telling the others we can do it too if we follow your ways? Haha that's funny.

So all along you think we have never put in any effort in our own craft, trying to establish a place in this school?

Wait is there something different between our hardwork and yours? Does yours come with a sprinkle of unicorn magic? Are we not getting the memo?

I will use myself as an example.

I wouldn't call myself as the sole contributor to my CCA or something, but I'm pretty damn sure I'm one of the main ones. That's something about me. Once I'm in I never get out. From Year 1 to Year 3, my team and I participate in the same competition, for 3 years. And the reason we couldn't continue with our journey was because 1) we reached the age limit 2) it was the year of our national exams. I've seen my team and myself grow from a team that literally did not care and were just heeding our extremely y teacher's instructions (now we love her to death). Alas, we did not get through the first round in our first year. But in Year 2 we were thinking, "alright guys, let's do this proper and see how it goes?" We slogged for 3 months and begged our actors to act for us (with promises of snacks and eternal friendship) and go from place to place just to get our perfect shot. There was once one of our members accidentally filmed our tripod in the background which cost me and my team leader (now a very good friend) to discuss the probable ways for an hour on the phone. We decided to film everything all over again (which is about 80 frames in the storyboard) and hope that we don't piss our own actors' fault. We were literally on a tightrope all the time, fixing this, doing that. When it got to editing, the software crashed multiple times (because the school did not offer us a complete version of FinalCutProX and we had to get the trial version which had A LOT of bugs) and I stayed up till 3AM on a school day to finish subtitling the whole video and last minute editing.

At the very end, we didn't win any awards, just a couple of nominations (which is a vast improvement from the previous year). And then we decided for our third year, our last year, we should go all out. ALL OUT.

We started brainstorming the ideas the day Year 2's competition results release. Despite almost failing all my subjects, I kept this project close. I poured everything in and so do my groupmates. Alas, with a complete, unique storyline and another round of begging and slogging, all we got from the competition was "this is too complex for kids to understand, sorry."

Three years of hard work and dedication. Just like that.

So you mean we don't put in hardwork in our craft so we don't get to have the recognition we deserve, just because we don't have gold and silver plaques?

Other than competitions, every single school event you will see us there to take pictures, videos, the moments from the events where you guys get to enjoy afterwards. And all we got was "oh, the pictures are so low quality", "all the pictures omg" It got to the point where the school's corperate communications team used our pictures and media and did not credit us. Cut us away from having our own facebook page. Cut our already measly funding because oh we don't contribute much?

all of you. This isn't funny. A team at least 70-man strong, only has 4 DSLR cameras, 2 camcorders and NO external flashes, softboxes, ring lights or any other gear. We have spoilt tripods and people who can't wait to get out of the CCA or just stayed because it was slacky.

all of you. The people who don't bother to give us the recognition when it's due. Treating us like we are just background shadows.

all of you. The people who said we don't give our 100%, the thing is that I assure you that we always give our 200% if we need to.

all of you. The people who think that a CCA is only worth by the number of awards they get and how many times they can come up and say ITS US to people.

I'm sick and done with this. You can say that just because your CCA is considered one of the top CCAs in school and people dying to be in your CCA? You don't understand why people from other CCAs hate your guts? Maybe if you take down that arrogant front of yours and look carefully at how all the others are trying to serve the school as much as we can and yet not getting any ounce of appreciation for it, you won't even want to say whatever you've been spewing for years.

Sincerely with a big you.

p.s. This is a response to a blogpost I read from someone in my school (he's a junior). But I see the same issue happening with my seniors and my own batch and I hate it.
