She was born in Taipei, Taiwan since her parents were on the vacation trip and stayed there for a week. After a week, they moved to Seoul in Korea and she raised up living in the average lifestyle with her parents. Her mother and father are both fully Korean and her mother can speak Chinese fluently however her father cannot speak Chinese unless he knows how to say 'hello', 'thank you', and 'bye' in Chinese. Her mother is working as the secretary from the TOP fashion company. Her grandmother visits Somin twice every month, to teach her Korean and basic stuff to work in the home. Her grandmother lives in the farming place in Busan, living with her long old friends. Somin was sent to the co-ed school (public) and studied very well and her parents are proud to give her some presents which are not very expensive.

Trainee background:

When the audition came, Somin and her friends were very interested in JYP Entertainment audition. One day, she felt very nervous and tried to act confidently in front of the judges, she tried her best to show her skills to see and they were impressed of me. She passed the audition and got into the trainee lifestyle, but she was disappointed that her friends failed to pass so she met a lot of new people with a lot of nervousness and shy. After 4 years of trainee lifestyle, JYP went to see her and discuss on what she decided to do and liked to debut as a new group and she agreed as she wanted to try so she had been told by him that he transferred her to Twinkle Entertainment.

Trainee exprience: Her trainee lifestyle was very hard and tiring. The path she took was a long way to reach up what she become. She took a lot of hard training and tried her best on many tests. However, she never give up on this path, so she keep going by working hard and practicing hard every day and every night. Moreover, she kept thinking of her friends and her family to continue this path she is walking and do her best very well.
