APPEARANCE: It's not hard to tell that Yerim has the cute factor. For someone in their early twenties, you would think one should look their age, but no. From the shoulders up, it's hard to tell if she's 21 or 12. At the astounding height of 155 cm and a total mass of 48 kg, it's hard for anyone to understand where she keeps all of her energy. It's not exactly a BMW; more of a microcar, honestly. Yerim has good proportions for someone of her stature; long legs, similar width in shoulders and hips, and a slim waist for those who bother to look for it. Like the rest, her face is small with a softly curved jawline. Her greatest facial feature is her eyes; big and clear brown. Other prominent traits are her ample cheeks, broad-tipped nose and thick eyebrows. The hair that frames her face is naturally black, but has been dyed a light frosted brown. It comes with natural curls, inherited from her mother, accompanied by full bangs and natural thickness that leaves the hair hard to dry after bathing.
FASHION: For a city girl like Yerim, she doesn't have much of a personal style. What she goes have is a preference for comfortable and easy-to-maintain clothes. Casual tees and tank tops, canvas sneakers and all things denim are essentials to her wardrobe. Yerim has a thing for layering, rarely leaving the house without at least two layers on her back (excluding very high temperatures). It's not necessarily out of practicality, but because she favors the easy and effortless casual look. Another big thing are colors - most of them are natural colors such as pastels and earthy tones with splashes of extremes such as yellows, orange and mint green. For the warm weathers, outfits are light in fabrics and easy on the eyes. Light wash shorts, oversized V-necks, pretty dresses and a good pair of loafers were some of the commonly used items. As it gets colder, the layering becomes more of a necessity than anything. Jackets upon sweaters upon more sweaters, colored skinny jeans and fun, yet practical shoes. Yerim is a girl with simple taste, but likes to mix it up to make it more of her own thing. Sometimes, her outfits are on the verge of "normal", but they are normally far more outstanding than your average casual wear.

↷ "Wake up, Yegom!" // Yerim's sleeping habits are rather odd. Whenever it's school, she is often late, but if it's weekend or holiday, don't expect her to be up later than 10 AM.
↷ "Aren't you a bit small for that ride?" // Her height is a more sensitive topic of hers, but she is used to it from close friends. If you're not close to her yet, wait a few years before commenting on it.
↷ Whenever I'm alone // Being abandoned is a major fear of Yerim's. The thought of it used to make her cry when she was little.
↷ True love's kiss // You see, Yerim's never had her first "real" kiss as her first kiss was actually taken from her by a boy who threw red yarn at her and claimed to be her soulmate because of it.
↷ Keepin' it busy // Wherever her family went, Yerim was very involved in various activities from fencing to swimming to softball to martial arts. The longest that she's been involved in something was basketball (eight years) and tennis (five years). Others lasted between a year to two.

BACKGROUND: Ahn Yerim was born on May 30, 1994, in Donghae, Gangwon Province. She is from a middle-class family and the youngest of three siblings. Her father is a company worker while her mother is a common housewife. Also, they are not soulmates. Growing up, Yerim was about as energetic as she is these days, but a lot less confident about herself as a result of childhood bullying. School was important in her family, and her poor performances attracted negative attention from her peers. Although they were no outright mean words, plenty of them discussed it behind her back (that she knew of) and didn't make much of an effort to ge to know her more.
When Yerim was ten, her father was promoted to marketing manager. Soon after, they packed up and moved all the way to Iksan, North Jeolla. She saw this as a chance to begin anew and entered several activities, but she stuck to team sports like basketball and tennis the most. The former was something she continued until her high school graduation. When questions about her future came to be, she didn't have much of a thought about it. Her mother was intially hesitant to let her study in Seoul, the capital, as it was very far from home, but she and her father managed to convince her after a couple of weeks' time.

↷ In a lot of ways, Yerim is the opposite of her father. There was a bit of a distance between them in the past, but they have definitely grown closer over the years. Yerim respects her father and sees him as a figure worth following. Mr. Ahn is proud of his youngest daughter for her strength and integrity, and he sees a lot of himself and his wife in her (which she will refuse each time he brings up).

↷ Yerim is closer to her mother in terms of personality, and they are generally on good terms. Her mother's not afraid of correcting Yerim's mistakes, but she is also there to give advice and pull her back when the daughter goes too far. Similar with Yerim, who will be sure to take care of her mother too in times of need.

↷ Because of an of five years and vast difference in personality and thoughts, Yerim was never particularly close to her sister growing up. They've had their moments of bonding and get along enough to be in the same room, but Yeseul has always made Yerim feel inadequate with her intelligence and guts.

↷ Yerim is closest to her older brother these days. Both of them are in their early 20s and similar in terms of personality. She is very protective of him, although he refuses to acknowledge being the "overly protected one" of the two. Dohun lives in Seoul with Yerim, but in a different place as he attends another university there.

In the past year and a half, Yerim has been living in a two-bedroom apartment with Bae Suji, located in the district of Seodaemun, Seoul. The place is very small, but came at a price suitable for the two girls. It has a fairly simple layout and divided into four spaces; two bedrooms, one bathroom and a combined kitchen and living room. Both girls are university students with Yerim majoring in Physiotherapy. They pay their half of the rent on specific days (for Suji's sake as she is fond of routine). In order to get the payments done, they both work part-time. Yerim spends her time working at Red Leaf Café, serving tables and taking orders from customers.
When it comes to everyday life, it normally starts with Suji waking up the entire household – Yerim, that is. If there's time for it, they eat breakfast together. Yerim takes out the garbage if it's necessary, usually because she is the last to leave the house in the morning. Her means of transportation to class or work is her trusty old Snow White, which is still working (for some insane reason). Suji may catch a ride if they are out at the same time, but it's rare these days after almost crashing once. Classes start around eight or nine and are finished by two or three in the afternoon. Monday and Friday are her working days while Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday are her cooking days – the days that she makes dinner for them both. If there is any spare time between university and work, Yerim likes to head out with friends (characters and others) to have a good time, whether it's going to the cinema, heading to a club or eating out.
PAST RELATIONSHIPS: Before encountering her soulmate, Yerim had never been in a relationship. She went on dates, but they always ended in a disaster one way or the other.

↷ Next to being roommates, Yerim and Suji are also good friends who have known each other since first year in university. They tend to bicker like siblings and view each other that way as well. Yerim is one of the few people with whom Suji can truly relax and let herself go more, although it's not much compared to the normal. Yerim enjoys teasing her friend, often light-heartedly, but is always ready to come to her rescue with overly attached partners.

↷ These two have a very friendly past, to say it mildly. Aside from being co-workers and friends, she also went on a date with this guy. It's true, and people generally drop jaws at the news. Others are not so surprised by the fact. They are, however, not soulmates and see each other as nothing but friends because it would never work out. Minho is someone for Yerim to lean on if she needs a shoulder, and she finds great comfort in this company. They also have a blast at work, which doesn't always please their boss as much.
THOUGHTS ON THE RED STRING OF FATE: "Before recently, I didn't think too much about the string. Well, yeah, I knew it existed and all, but it was never anything that occupied my thoughts or influenced my life in any spectacular manner. My parents weren't soulmates. They're happy. I'm the youngest, and neither of my siblings have found their soulmate yet as far as I'm aware of... Oh, wait... No, never mind. No one in my family have ever found theirs, and I'm still young enough that most of my friends are still looking."
HOW WOULD YOU REACT TO FINDING YOUR SOULMATE?: "Ahaha... Yeah, that particular moment does cross my mind every now and then. To be honest, I don't know how I'd react to it. I imagine it would be pretty awkward. I mean, I'm good with people, but it's not all that you go and say, 'Hey, soulmate!' It's supposed to be quite the romance, but I'm not a romantic and don't see myself doing anything in particular. I suppose we'll have to wait and see, won't we?"

PERSONALITY: Kim Junmyeon is a team player and has no interest in having power over others. He doesn't much care for domineering attitudes at all. He prefers a more democratic approach to matters, and works hard to ensure that every voice and perspective is heard. A live-and-let-live attitude comes naturally to Junmyeon, and he dislikes being constrained by rules. He gives the benefit of the doubt too, and so long as his principles and ideas are not being challenged, he'll support others' right to do what they think is right. When something captures his imagination and speaks to his beliefs, he goes all in, dedicating his time, energy, thoughts and emotions to the project. His shyness may keep him from the podium, but he is often the first to lend a helping hand where it's needed.
Junmyeon has a habit of taking his idealism too far, setting himself up for disappointment as, again and again, evil things happen in the world. This is true on a personal level too, as he may not just idealize his partners, but idolize them, forgetting that no one is perfect. He can also be difficult to get to know as he is private, reserved and self-conscious – always unsure how much to show of himself without becoming too much too soon. He tends to focus on the bigger picture rather than the details, and he can easily miss the "make it or break it" points in a certain conflict or situation. Whenever logic and facts go against his set morality and feelings, he can find himself in a rather difficult position when it comes to figuring things out. A little known fact about Junmyeon is the fact that once his imagination starts going, he may start forgetting things such as food and daily responsibilities. RELATIONSHIP: Their first encounter occurs over drinks. Yes, drinks. Neither of them are big drinkers to begin with, but [applicants] have managed to drag them along to a bar one evening. Junmyeon is enjoying a simple beer when he sees her with the others, laughing like no tomorrow and downing her shots. He sees that she is not big in stature and has enough knowledge to see where this might lead. True to his words, Yerim is soon out like a light and cuddling people. One of the girls and Junmyeon get the honor of taking her home. It is at that time that he notices the red string on her finger, but he keeps silent about it until the next time they meet.
Yerim and Junmyeon do not expect to find their soulmate while they're still in college. Neither of them are too experienced on this matter (surprise, surprise) and find themselves going rather slow to begin with. Yerim is the one to accept it the easiest, mostly because she knew it would happen someday. Junmyeon is more hesitant. He has little to no romantic experience and has no idea what to do in spite of his long list of imagined scenarios featuring him and his soulmate. The relationship is surprisingly easy to maneuver, considering Yerim's lack of consideration at times and Junmyeon's reserved nature. Yerim sees that he is hesitant to share things about himself and is using her observation to calculate the next step in getting closer to him. Junmyeon also finds it a lot easier to relax around her as she is honest and open for new suggestions and ideas.
Communication is a bit of an issue in the start as Junmyeon prefers to keep things inside while Yerim is everywhere. The two of them see that they need to find a balance in order for it to work out, but once it does, there is no turning back. Yerim might be the first to try and get closer, but Junmyeon is the first to fall. As soon as he sees the good side of her, he has fallen. Hard. He begins blushing in her company and tries to complement her at every turn; Yerim finds it adorable. It doesn't take long for him to fall. They test each other for reactions, such as that Yerim keeps using aegyo around him in private as he turns into a heap of goo every single time. The two find great comfort in each other's company and know they may talk about a lot, but it's not without problems. Both are rather new in the field, but they are very willing to try!
