Why It's So Hard to Read Fanfiction

This is land of Asian Fanfics or AFF. I myself am not an expert so please if I make mistakes, please correct me.

I am a transferee from the website fanfiction.net. I love it but I felt that I had read almost every fic that I currently had an interest in. Of course I went back after 5 months to see some progress but not much difference. I stumbled onto this site in June 2014, I think? But I made an account in August, after discovering some stories had to be suscribed. Now of my 3 months observing the site I'm not very surprised to say that it has some major flaws.

  • The Featured Section

Okay sometimes the stories it selects are well written. The only problem is ... it's ONLY two chapters in. TWO CHAPTERS!!! Do they even check what they feature? What's the criteria? Just two days ago or was it yesterday I saw a featured fanfic that wasn't really a fanfic at all! It was some roleplay thing going on. I couldn't believe it.

Solution: I think that mabye the Featured toolbar is random, picking any story that's just had a burst of activity. A way to fix that is to narrow it down wht stories can be selected. My have a specific number of chapters, so that I have a longer enjoyment time than less than 10 chapters worth of good writing but long updates.

  • The Facts About A Certain Boyband

EXO is currently my bias boyband ahead of Infinite, CNBLUE, and Boyfriend. But I get annoyed trying to find a story that has an insane amount of chapters and then boom, first thing that shows up: FACTS ABOUT EXO - 575 chapters. I do not want to read facts about EXO. It's like a personal pet peeve of mine. It's so creepy when people actually go out and find out every single moment of a person's life without them knowing. Of course I know EXO probably has some idea about that but you know... PET PEEVE.

Solution: Move those "stories" into blogs, please. Of course I am going to get hate for saying such harsh things but I can deal with that. I just want to make the process of finding another great story easier on my patience level. There should be a policy on that. Or maybe not.

I love FF.net but I only go on there to read anime fanfiction. I personally don't like it when roleplays are featured since there is a roleplayung website that's related to AFF, and I remember one time a fanfic with no chapters got featured

As a fellow "transferee" from FF.net (I left in2012), I know how you feel about the flawed feature system, as well as other lacking features on this site. Unfortunately, changes on this site are rare, and often take a ridiculous amount of time to make them happen.
